I used to work as an rmergency medical technician. I thought it was fascinating that pulling fire alarms in public buildings like schools automatically called the fire department, police, and emergency medical services.
The difference between Chicago's dispatch operations in 1988 is practically no different than the FDNY's dispatch operation circa 1988, including the comings and goings of the personnel! Same stuff, just a different place, I guess....
@@thyluveli I specifically asked if this video was still from when the two alarm offices were in separate buildings. It has nothing to do with the radio but with where they are located....also I asked the question 12 yrs ago so get lost.
they had the money to upgrade a long time ago.if you look at the tv series emergency they should have did it to look exactly like that and build a better building
Emergency communication center was actually located at the Los Angeles County Fire Department Headquarters and the actual dispatcher was the late Sam Lanier, protecting the citizens of Los Angeles County.
I saw a baseball game going on on one of the tv screens. I hope no pesky blazes came in while the game was on, wouldn't want to interrupt their attention.
This is amazing thank you

Wish there were more of this kind of footage
It's been four years but there is, search Chicago MFA and you'll get more
Here's some similar footage from the FDNY: ua-cam.com/video/NS0Biv0v8x8/v-deo.html
That's one hell of an old VHF repeater system in the background they don't make them like that anymore the way they used to nice and solid state
