This was a good start for the fails videos, Joshua, I am glad the later episodes you spend more time on each clip to analyse. Of course, it is relative to the situation.
Adrian Calgary yeah I’m only on my 4th one now so I have some improvements to make lol thanks for the help!
@@BetaClimbers Looking forward for more, you're a golden goose for climbers here on youtube, I try to help as much as I can, cheers
scary stuff
Dam you had me close my eyes. Super GREAT Video.
having broken my back on a goddamn trampoline, i dont understand these people that boulder 30 meters without gear.... it only takes 1 fall to end up in a wheelchair ...
First thing first more climbing fails!! Second i used to not wear a helmet but since i hear you all the time repeating wear a helmet i actually wear it all the time.
Great channel! Like it a lot more than most popular climbing channels. Keep at it.
Hope to see this channel get more subs maybe you could do a video on progressing from gym climbing to outdoors as it's something I'm interested in but unsure how to get started on. All the best
Thanks! Everyone gotta start some where, so ill just keep making content for you all and we will see where it get us! And that a great idea I sure wouldn't mind making a video like one day.
6:30 - that's in thailand (Railay Beach). People deck off that rock all the time.
I guess is more like "do you climb safe or do you climb stupid?". I mean, there is a point where danger is taken into account... falling 8 meters onto a pad created to absorb small fall, is just a bad example of how you should use your brain...
Climbing safe is dangerous enough
Man these falls are gnarllllly
Hello! I'm new here, must say I like your aproach to videos 😀
About the clip on 1.60 I've seen this in a climbing movie. I think it's in UK and he is doing this project that only has one small flimsy protection that doesn't do much. He tried and did it a bunch of times on top rope but doing it from the ground this happened. It's one of the scarriest falls of a pro climer I've seen...
1:33 were you about to ask what kind of rock that was? fyi it's a conglomerate sandstone. it looks a lot like a popular climbing spot in Maple Canyon in central Utah, though presumably there are other places in the world with the same type of rock. it's really good for all skill levels since the entire canyon is basically a giant climbing wall in terms of holds. the real difficulty is watching out for wet, mossy, or loose rocks when climbing.
Your videos really demotivate me to go climbing aha (even with helmet)
Always put a prusik as a backup if you rappel on your own
Second one the gear popped on top and the bolt held. Only 1 bolt and no spot for gear in between.
4:15 But why does it tear the Clams or Friends out of the wall? I thought they were safe.
I think I've done that 2nd route. Red River Gorge?
I rarely put chalk on my hand when I climb, I don't really sweat. But after watching those videos...
1:59 that’s an E9 6c in Britain, not much you can do about that gear ahahaha
Yep, bang on. Meshuga doesn't get many ticks and a lot of great climbers have fallen off of it. The climber in the video is Neil Mawson, renowned for some hardcore trad FAs. He put up one of the hardest routes ever in the UK, Choronzon in Pembroke. The video is on UA-cam. It's nutty.
Did you ever Solo a easy route? I very much like soloing on a level that i feel extremly comfortable with, where i know i dont make a mistake when i am focused and ofc i climbed the route many times to know every move. Then Soloing is a calculated risk and hella adrinaline whilst beeing super calm.
Yeah I have, it’s a dangerous game even on easy terrain. We just had a death this weekend at the gunks. Better to just use a rope and get your adrenaline from the run outs. 🤙🏻
Go check out "Big Balls and Ground falls". hard climbing on UK Gritstone. Some of my friends made this (I'm 72 years so go figure my history). I could only watch 30 seconds at a time and needed chalk.
5:50 Always use Prusik
How can I watch all your videos back to back? Lol
Jesus these are scary falls
If you wanna clame dangerously you have to be aware of the risks, if you're willing to accept them then you're not being unconscious. Like most people see climbing, even in its safer form, as something dangerous and an unconscious thing to do. But if ou are confident with the risks because you feel confident enough you can make it then go ahead. Just know that if you just wanna build up ego you could die.
just scary
Don't you use to say "Climbing is only as dangerous as you decided to make it!"
„Just top rope the thing“ well josh, not everyone lives in a place without ethics. In my home area (saxon swiss) there is so much ethical restricion is not funny. Toprope is forbidden on any saxon sandstone tower (too much trafic, to much damage to rock) preclipping the first is also impossible (regular first hight well above 5m). Chalk is forbidden. And cams are also forbidden (we use knots instead of cams (highly sketchy but if done right MIGHT work).
You rock
Does wearing a helmet whilst watching this video count as aid?
Crash pads are Stupid, if you can fall far enough to need help landing, then use a rope. Plus they look really silly.
Stupidity must be punished.
What in the flat bill hat did I just watch?
I’m sorry, I’m just not impressed by this kind of content. Is this seriously an example of your most intellectually considered and competently constructed commentary of the video? Maybe watch it a few times and write down some constructive comments. Then, make a video that doesn’t look like a callous and insensitive reaction to the climbers misfortune and probable injuries. Maybe you could contribute some things that would save them from future fails and potential serious injury or death.
Tom Muhleman, Jr. think this was my first climbing fails video 🤔they have gotten progressively more...constructive. Thanks for the comment. 🤙🏻Maybe check out my newest one, let me know what you think.
BetaClimbers, I just returned to this comment to either amend or remove it. I did watch your other fail reaction videos and I agree that you did make several more constructive videos that covered the things I mentioned in my comment. Props to you for that. Let me know if you want me to delete the comment or if this reply is enough to be fair.
Yo, Josh thank you for stressing the importance dome pro. In high school someone kicked me off a stool, and I hit my head. Was paralized from the neck down. I have mostly recovered, but I still have seizures and almost daily migraines.
Please just wear helmets everyone!
Brian Kill it is crazy how fragile and at the same time resilient the human body can be. Hope you fully recover my dude! 👍🏻
@@BetaClimbers Much appreciated! I wish you all the best as well. Love the content, and your family is just adorable!!!! We are rooting for you
Wish more talked about some of the long-term impacts. Had three concussions (all wearing a helmet, luckily) and while I think I mostly have recovered mentally even after 7 years since my last I still get regular very severe migraines.
