Hi Alan, I have a Sphere LX mic that obviously takes 2 channels linked and a Slate ML-2. How do I use your piggy back method of recording with 2 mics using these when I need 3 channels? Thanks 🙏
From Allen Sides: "No problem using the Sphere LX and the Slate ML2 mics as a stereo pair for recording acoustic guitar. I suggest using one output of the LX as the top mic (suggest OWR Tele 251 cardioid setting) and suggest using the ML2 as the bottom mic. Not sure what settings are available on that mic but if there are a variety I would just channel through them and see what is the closest match to the LX. The two mics don’t need to sound exactly the same. In regards to placement, the top mic would be about eight inches from the guitar aimed at the center of the guitar, usually just to the neck side of the whole. Bottom mic same distance from guitar aimed up to the center point. The mics should be about four inches apart. If you're getting a little to much low-end from the guitar you can just back the mics off another two inches and that should clear it up. Hope that works for you!"
