Beautiful song, thank you for the translation. So glad I googled Swedish songs and found this one. I'm visiting Sweden for the first time. I'm writing this from a campsite by a lake, enjoying the peace and quiet and totally in love with your beautiful open spaces. Thank you Sweden, I'll never forget this happiness of being here, feeling free to enjoy nature without stupidity (face masks and all the over the top restrictions elsewhere, specially in Spain where I spent a very draconian lockdown). Thanks Mr Tegnell and the Swedish people for not giving in to hysteria. With best wishes to all 😊
@A J Well, i'm glad that you enjoyed Sweden. But let's not forget all the elderly people that have built up this country on sweat, blood and tears. Unfortunately, too many of them died as a result of our liberal corona strategy. So for them, i want to belive that they went to a better place.
As much as it is worth from a stranger on the internet, my deepest condolences. Hopefully he is up there with my mother having a fika laughing at us all still down here.

@Himno88: That's a very conservative interpretation. I've always interpreted the song has referring to "open and free spaces" as opposed to "fields" - which is why the picture of Stockholm is at the end. It's a city near the sea filled with lots of green and open spaces. Which to me shows the Swedish spirit - that even in a "cosmopolitan" capital city this longing for sea and free space is prevalent. :)
I'm Dutch and never knew that I understand quite a bit Swedish, I guess it is even easier for Danish or Norwegians. I live in a rural place with open spaces (agriculture) and on the otherside heatherfields and woods. The sea isn't that far (we are a small country) so even I can relate to this song.
I don't know how I got here but I'm literally crying, don't know why... I mean, it is not a sad lyric, right? It seems to me that my heart misses a place to which it can no longer return ...
@Himno88 U ever been to sweden? it doesent semmes like that, we have a lot of open landscapes, belivie me im a swede and have been living here 4 38 years. dont come and say anything u dont know anything about...ok? this song really represents sweden...
Super nice song, my favorite . I just put this video om Facebook. I made the choice to move out of the big city to the sea with open country and few humans.. This video is nice, but 100% of the Swedish soul and country is not pressent here. You (Mie R ) have to travel the whole country to take your own foto, to capture the soul of your beautiful land. You miss the forrest, and the cost lines, and the original people Sami, the birds and your Volvo soul , the blues and the summer festivals / party with shel fish and herrings .. Sveden has much more to offer, you mis 20 % fotos.. , but the song is 100%.. :-) Thank you anyway for this video.. :-)
Lovely song. Can someone please write out all the lyrics here ( with translation too.. ) . Thanks so much . ( Tusen takk - the few Swedish words I know :)

But this song is about Sweden's landscape and people! Maybe the part about Sweden's inhibitants is more subtle, but it's there: "Där 'ja' är 'ja', och 'nej' är 'nej', och tvivlet tiger still... Ingen kommer in min närhet, som stänger in och stjäl... När det klara och det enkla, får råda som det vill" And there's even a part about it's viking-history.
Yh i agree. It's more like a fun tribute to the country, but not a song that actually defines the country. No disrespect to whoever wrote this, but when you put "brännvin" in what many want to be the official anthem, that's a big no-no in my book. Im still baffled that "Thou ancient, Thou free" isn't official considering that it is actually defined as the song of Sweden. Crazy!
God bless and protect Sweden with beauty and faith greetings from Italy

We played this at my grandpa's funeral. It was his favorite song. I still cry every time I hear it.

I sang this beauty at my dads funeral last week 🥺❤️ Ulf Lundell var hans favorit artist så. Såklart sjöng ja denna låten

This is maybe the best song i know. With alot of nostalgic.
If my personal preferences does not 100% coincide with Ulf Lundell's that does not change the spirit of the song. I just love it!
This is so beautiful! Mycket kärlek från Brasilien 💙💛
Awesome video! Greetings from swedish americans!
I always listen to this song when I am homesick for Sweden. I wish I was there now 😔😔😔 ❤ Sverige
fuck you

its a very nostalgic song, very much about longing for something that while not impossible could be far away, something that swedish does very well
Im crying now and its a song of hope and how this world was meant to be! /Cheers from the UK

It clearly says "unofficial". :p

I love this song but this wouldnt fit as a national anthem because I think a national anthem should be and is about the country or the people.. Så ja

Blå Skogsstjärnor, snart möts vi i himmelen. Klarar inte helvete längre. Förlåt mig.
This is not our national anthem.. It is Du gamla Du fria
But the title says unofficial, right?
