Good honest review Greg. Trimming has never been a "rewarding" part of the lawn care program, but a necessary evil. Glad the SKILL unit did what it needed to do!

Thanks Jayme--the one thing I didn't mention that also makes the battery-operated trimmers more appealing too is that they're either off or on--no pulling a cord to get them to start! I've only used 2 battery trimmers but I liked the Skil much better than the other brand I used...

Good video, thanks! I have this trimmer also and it has plenty of power to get the job done, but not the most comfortable trimmer to use lol! The physical ergonomics of it aren’t that good. The thumb button & lever combo are a pain to use, the operating lever is way behind you when using it, it’s not balanced very good, and feels way too long when using it. My yard is 3/4 of a acre with a good amount of trimming & edging and I need a second battery to get the job done. Please keep in mind all the “issues” with the trimmer are just slight nit-picks and I still prefer it over my old gas trimmer any day lol! Also the Skil blower that came with the trimmer is just awesome

If you get the blower, it comes with its own battery, so you end up with two batteries that are interchangeable. Works well together.

I'm thinking about it. I dont have a big yard. Lowes has them onsale for $140. I already have the mower, the way I see it is I have a 2nd battery. I know It's not the 5amp but still convenient to have a backup battery on hand. Mower is awesome on full charge, makes me wonder how well the 2.5 would do on it.

I liked the string trimmer so much that I bought their hedge trimmer and chainsaw--thinking along the same lines as you--have backup batteries for everything. I've been happy with it all.

I ordered the blower and trimmer combo with charger and battery from Lowes today for $169. Pretty good price when they want $159 per tool normally.

that is awesome! I have a different brand battery blower and it's fine but I wish I had Skil. I bought a Skil hedge trimmer and chainsaw and both have worked very well for me.

@@FacialVomitTurtleFights So far I love both the trimmer and blower. Nice balance and construction. It sure makes it easier.

I bought a Ryobi and I was happy with how much I could do with each use, and it was quite light, but sadly the battery became unchargeable after only a handful of uses :( I'm not sure if I just happened to get a defective battery or they'll just not very well made.

that's really too bad. I've only had mine for 1 summer so I don't know how long the battery will last, but hopefully better than that. I would think that if you were to reach out to them, they would at least talk to you about the battery issue...

U didn’t show how to restring ur trimmer head with new line. I brought one use for $75.

nice score! I've owned mine just under a year so I haven't even had to restring it yet--is it rough? I liked the trimmer so much though that I bought one of their hedge clippers and chainsaws and both also worked well for my needs.
