I don't understand why they don't put standard class on the mark 5's at the loco end and standard at the opposite end considering the first class customers would surely want the quiet away from the noisy loco.

Soundproofing is actually very good on the Mk5s you can only really hear the loco in tunnels or right at the loco end.
