Vivianne Miedema to leave Arsenal at end of the season

Vivianne Miedema will leave Arsenal at the end of the season when her contract expires, the club have confirmed.
The striker is the highest scorer in Women's Super League history, having netted 79 times in the league since joining the Gunners in 2017.
In seven years in north London, Netherlands international Miedema has scored 125 goals and provided another 50 assists in 172 appearances in all competitions.

Even though I’m not an Arsenal fan, this really is sad news, she’ll always be an Arsenal legend and can’t understand why they didn’t offer her a new contract especially with Beth still at the club too. 27 years old, since her move from Bayern where she won two Bundesliga’s, she’s scored 125 goals and provided 50 assists in 172 games in the WSL for Arsenal. She’s won the WSL, two FA Cup’s and two League Cups. In total she’s scored 257 goals in 304 games in her senior club career. International football, she’s scored 95 goals in 118 appearances and won the European Championships in 2017. Hopefully she’ll stay in the WSL as it would be a massive blow to the league and especially with Beth here too. I’d absolutely love her at Liverpool, it would be a monster signing. 🇳🇱
Think she’ll go to America as I don’t think she’d want to play against Arsenal so yeah think she’ll go abroad ❤️😭

It will put a strain on their relationship. She was never gonna get regular playing time with Stina and Russo giving Arsenal plenty of attacking options. Even Laila Codina and Catley had to elsewhere on the pitch if they wanted to play.

Miedema was the best striker in the world. When (if) she overcomes this neverending knee injury, she is still unlikely to ever be as good as she was. Letting her go might very well turn out to be a good decision. But only time will tell, of course.

She has been Arsenal's best player I know along with Kim Little . I am sure she is convinced its the right time to move on but I have no doubt she would be back at Arsenal in some capacity in the future.
