In New Zealand it's still got the K14c non hybrid engine. Not the quickest but still has very enjoyable driving dynamics.
I20n has a stupid markup here and isn't significantly better in everyday driving. Would only make sense if you do track days. VW, mini etc all significantly more expensive to buy and maintain too. We're a long way from Europe. This is the car for people who are passionate about driving but don't want to spend big on a car. They are usually just a financial liability at the end of the day.
We love the Swift, especially with Boosterjet 😀
Interesting review. I have a 1.0 turbo version with 110hp and its performance is quite spritely for its capacity . I think its upright windscreen improves visibility and gives a great driving position compared to rivals. Reliability should be much better than fiestas and vw rivals too.
They’re great warm hatches, tight handling and fun, whereabouts are you? Thank you Odris
@@PlanetautoUK I liive in Sri Lanka. My car was a JDM import. Because of high taxes it cost me the equivalent of USD 25 k in 2018. You guys in the west are so lucky to have relatively low vehicle prices 😃
Crazy prices, fantastic car though, we bet it’s fun in Sri Lanka one of our friends used to spend a lot of time in Colombo, he liked the roads.
@@PlanetautoUK oh no! The urban roads are congested and rough. I rarely get a chance to extend the engine. Even the highway speed limit is 100kmph. I would have settled for the base 1.2 , but it costs more since our tax system favours cars below 1 litres.
This is going back 15 or so years ago, it’s sounds like the perfect place for All Grip 😀
Swift sport looks good in any colour Including white and a great informative review
It does, thank you Will
Nice little car, love the manual gearbox and the looks. The small size and light weight are also good, don't care about hard plastics BUT performance and price are just underwhelming.
It was already kind of slow for a small hot hatch and with this hybrid they made it slower and more expensive.
I know why they threw the hybrid thing there. they did it to keep up with regulations and the replacement of simple gasoline cars but still.
Lets not ignore also that this hybrid one will also be a bigger pain to maintain since it has more things to go wrong.
If i see Suzuki offering a price cut at some point then i might look at it. But the current price just seems too much for it. It's suppose to be a cheap little sporty car but is just not really cheap anymore.
Yes, these just aren’t hot hatches anymore, warm at best, fun and yes makes sense the hybrid, not the price hike sadly, thank you Anon
Nice review.
Personally with the shortcoming mentioned. I don't care.
This is a rocket pocket that wants to be driven and that's what is is built for.
I have always like the swift but sadly we don't get Suzuki car here in Canada anymore. 😕
It’s fun, enjoyable and that’s rather sad Cosmo
Thanks for a very down to earth review. I own the non hybrid version, so very interested in your video. Regarding economy I average around 49 mpg. I've done just under 7000 enjoyable, trouble free miles, typically Suzuki. The car seems notacably quicker than Suzuki's figures and I suspect that the hybrid model will be the same. Being in my 60s I appreciate how comfy the car is, one reason that I didn't go for a Fiesta ST. As regards the hard plastics that doesn't bother me one jot, don't know why its such an issue. Anyway thanks for your review and I look forward to trying one 🙂👍
Hard plastics have never bothered us, however they do many, fantastic motor, reminds me of our Mk2 Golf GTI on a back road. Thank you Pip
I see What Car rates the 2017-2024 Swift as the most reliable used small Car (June 2024). Given a 99.5% reliability rating.
That’s phenomenal, thank you Derek mind you knowing Suzuki and their ethos, it’s what they strive for, great to see their efforts pay off handsomely.
Another great review, very informative and interesting as always. One suggestion for future reviews is please don't wear Puma sweat pants, as your own "power bulge" is quite noticeable and cannot be unseen becoming a source of distraction throughout the walk around 🤣
Ooer, noted ta Paul, better be prepared for Budgie smugglers next week
Another review with no rain! lol good review still.
Isn’t that a good thing?
wow, a very wet review, how do you keep the camera dry? I'm scared about getting mine wet.
The first car I drove on the road was a 2000 Swift 1.2. It was fun to drive. It's good to see how this car has improved over the years. I agree about the about what you look for in a swift, you do expect a fun drive over a solid interior. A old school kinda feel.
The wheels in slowmo really made my eyes funny, lol
The 750d is weather sealed, and the iPhones are water proof, great little cars, lots of fun, thanks Matt
@@PlanetautoUK oh wow, I never knew that. I was always scared of even the smallest drop of water on my 750d lol.
@@mattsbeamer you’ve seen what subject ours too 😆
Looks Awesome but unfortunately not available in India... 1.4 Booster engine is Yes makes it pocket rocket...
Gutted 😞 yes very fun car, thank you Dev
@@PlanetautoUK what's the size of the Tyre of Suzuki Ignis in Australia ? In India we have 175/65R15... I think in Australia Wheel Rim size is 16 inches if I'm not wrong..
Good question, anyone from Australia here?
Suzuki is a very nice car
But it had left in my country for years
Oh dear, which country RG?, we miss Mitsubishi here now they’ve left, thank you 😊
@@PlanetautoUK I am Chinese
@@PlanetautoUK But Mitsubishi is still in China😬
@@RG-di5ycChina and they don’t bring Suzuki swift ? This is crazy !!! Japan and China are neighbours
with 58,7 mpg in the city my swift sport none-hybrid is economic enough for everyday use. I don't think the hybrid was a large improvement. 👀
It primarily depends where you drive it, in the Lakes, undulating roads make the hybrid super efficient - that’s pretty good though, thank you Imo
Nice car 👍👍👍👍👍🇵🇭
Thank you Cruzzito
Oh, what a marvellous day to do a car review. :-( ;-)
Welcome to the outskirts of the Lake District AONB 😊
This is AWD?
No the latest one is 2WD in the UK, thank you Harshith
@@PlanetautoUK You're welcome sir. But there's AWD varient of it right?
The Swift or the Swift Sport?
@@imHarshith the awd variant offers only around 90 hp but yes, there is one available!
In which case it’s not a Sport with the 1.4 BoosterJet, which means it’s the 1.2 AllGrip a totally different car.
You can skip the 2nd gear when doing 0-100 sprint….
Used to do that to help economise, as for sprint usually hammer each gear and spin in to the next, dependant on motor. Thank you Sunny S
Skipping a gear can help you doing 0-100 in 7.x s ….by saving shift gear time……
