The kind of videos we need.
Time to bust out that woobie!
💯
Finally, a great top comment!
The humility to be able to laugh at yourself for falling off a chair when you’re a world class instructor. This is a great video and stay humble my friend.
No words, no music- just actions we can see. If folks can’t figure it out, they never will.
You mean 55 second loud obnoxious intros for a 1.5 min video is bad? lol
Glad you can get out again. I wish more vets would get out and do this it is great for the soul
Marine Vet here. filmed a similar project last year at Pictured Rocks in Michigan. Solo camping especially in the backcountry really does wonders for the mental health and soul. Check it out if you're interested. It's on my channel.
Yes. More of these! More preparedness stuff is what we need. As a former 25U I'm biased but people need to learn how to operate radios again and have a plan.
more videos like this Mike.. survival, overlanding, bush craft...all of it.
Mike I am saying special prayers for you Sir! I recognize the distant look you gave as you scanned the area, that feeling will give way to appreciation for the beauty of Mother Earth and not her dangers.
Great video Young man, I raised my kids camping four seasons and my youngest son was the only one to join on cold camping nights. Two weeks ago when the cold brought high winds and snows to Iowa I strapped on my snowshoes and headed into the woods north of the farm. I still am a believer in wool and even though i didn't hike long putting on a dry pair of wool socks before bed made it so much more enjoyable. Inside my tarp shelter I set up my Big Agnes Elk Park and Buffalo Park sleeping system to inflate and fill long before I bedded down. The extra insulation was nice and my last walk into the cold still got my blood warmed and flowing. In the morning over my stove steam rose from my hot chocolate and the bowl of oatmeal as I sat watching the sun rise. I tell you this not to impress you because long before our fathers were born men and woman survived the elements with far less then we have now. The serenity of a night out in nature cannot be topped.
Whether short views in Montana mountains and long sweeping valleys or of snow blowing hard over the top of a tarp over head, being in the cold world has so many gifts that must be enjoyed in person.
The same ramen I used to extend my C-rations and MREs are still used today as filler with no other benefit to the body. Simple foods sustain a body far more than any fancy meal with garnish, that's a fact. Thank You for sharing the journey.
With Love and Respect, You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
Dam nice story - I need to get back outside. Did my new years cold plunge in the freezing river and haven’t been in the outdoors in a month.
how in the hell does this only have 56k views ? the content, creativity and videography /editing is amazing. something doesn’t seem right Mike.
Gosh, I loved that you kept this quiet. Beautiful country. ❤
Would recommend a folding saw Mike for cutting up wood in camp, much easier to work with than a hatchet. You can cut up fallen dead wood really quickly with one.
A silky saw for sure even though that Montana Knife Company mini ax looks good.
Yeah, thinking the same. Bahco, Silky, or an X7 at least.
And I guess it's also much safer. I ditched my hatchet in favour of a saw a long time ago when I started to do solo multi-day hikes. On the other hand - this MKC piece looks so good.
Well he has to advertise for Montana knife company. This entire video is an advertisement for his sponsors and the gear he sells. Good on Mike just saying.
@nutnfancy walked this path. So we could run it. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Amen.
I’d give some credit to the camping community. For me Dave Canterbury got me into this outdoor lifestyle.
@@MLKreame the no word bushcraft videos for sure.
There is no better feeling than getting out in the wilderness. Good on you for spending quality time out in the bush
Dude it is awesome to see you take time out and just enjoy life. Feels great to do this from time to time right. Great video.
That was really neat and super relaxing to watch! I don't know how you stayed warm to sleep? I also loved hearing you laugh when you were slipping! I love sliding on the ice! I ha enever camped in the snow. I am intrigued 😊
Mike I'm so glad I'm not the only one that laughs at themselves when alone. I do this all the time. Awesome video I love it. Please make more like this. I'm am outdoorsy guy.
The sound of a creek is so relaxing
Mike Truly enjoying himself, great to see. Thank you.
Very wholesome, a trip like this can do wonders. Also fun seeing you flex your kit.
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and this was probably my favorite one. Simple and nice to watch. Thanks for all the content!
I was so captivated by this, and it was very relaxing. Can't wait to go camping again. Thank you for sharing.
Nailed it...Solid, looking forward to more of these
Footsteps on snow, one of the best sounds... Awesome scenery 👌
Please make more of these! There are many bushcraft (mostly European) AMSR backcountry channels. I love to just let them play for hours. It is great to see one with gear and skills easily accessible to me. I like to get into the woods as a break so that I don't have to talk (I talk all day in my job). This video made me feel like I was right there. Thank You!!
So relaxing, great video. Love the quiet. Reminds me of my youth, did a lot of solo winter camping because no one else would bear the cold. Did this one trip -20° F for 4 days. One of the best solo trips I ever had. Second black powder deer season in northern Vermont. I hauled a plastic toboggin instead of carrying a backpack. Gears a lot better now. Spoiler, no deer.
It gives me great joy to see humans that have given so much enjoy life to its fullest and purse their passions! Blessings upon you and your tribe. Great video. Press On!
I can feel my soul healing as I watch this. 💆♂️🪷
I remember one episode of Alone when a contestant was walking with an uncovered axe, hauling back a tree. He tripped, fell, and gave himself a nasty wound that almost made him have to tap out. Seeing Mike walk back from cutting down a tree in that snow, with several unsteady steps, made me nervous! Cover your axe when not in use, everyone! AWESOME VIDEO and much respect to MIKE and his organization!!!
I’ve been subscribed to this channel for years now and I truly enjoyed and appreciate this video!!! Beautiful scenery. This also a great way to show support to the companies you love.
Yes! Mike is apart of the AeroPress crew! ☕️
Great video. The cinematography and sound made me feel like I was there enjoying the beauty nature has to offer.
Thank you Mike and the FIELDCRAFT CREW !!!

Thanks, Mike! I'm reminded that there's always two adaptations to keep in mind -- one outside and the other inside.
Videos like this are the best way to clear your mind of all the bs! It's like meditation. Well done Mike. More please 😁

This video, Mike… Chef’s kiss👨🏻🍳💋 Glad to see you getting out and doing things you love. You and your cinematography team have outdone yourselves with this one!
Thanks, Mike. I've never really camped without power and definitely not solo. It's been nagging at me. This video has given me the confidence boost I needed to get out and do it.

Very different yet wonderful video.

I know where that is , awesome of you to get out on the trail and take in some local scenery , best time of year for some solitude .
This motivates me to get back out there and do some back woods camping.
Looks peaceful. I especially enjoyed the Bic lighter part😊.
My dream vacation. Make more videos like this.
That’s me and my wife’s jam. Throw some snow shoes, crampons, maybe my bark river quartermaster or my Winkler Crusher Belt Knife, adding the rugged touch of leather sheath and holster and our ice axes and in search for the best real estate these human bodies can find. Hard work but so fun. Forces you to see the miracle of creation, life as intended.
Praise you Jesus!
Maybe just maybe you can join us one day my distant friend and partner. Don’t know you but know you. Thank you for you!
Cool video, quite a few useful tricks are shown here. Thanks.
Good talk!
Awesome countryside. Cheers from Alberta!
Get out there lads

Was not expecting the way that this played out, haha. Great video, with a few comedic incidents 😂 Quite refreshing. Keep em coming, Mike 👍🏻
