What exactly did he do at his exchange program ?
My analysis on his guitar playing:
1) The guitar was out of tune. This song is originally half step down but one can also play this song in standard tuning. His guitar was not even in proper standard tuning
2) His rhythm was totally out of time. Looks like he doesn't practice with metronome. If i was him i would have played metronome in my ear phones atleast
3) Chord: we all can clearly see that he was struggling at changing chords when he switched to g major. His barre chords were also buzzing very badly. Most importantly, this song is played with power chords only but he chooses open chords for some reason
Song choice was also not correct. Rape me is a song that looks good with little bit of muting and distortion. This song have a very rough vibe, most of kurt cobain songs are like this. Not very clean as kurt was also not a very exceptional guitar player but he knew how to use his instrument. This guy would have choosen a simple song, based on 3 chords am, c major and e minor.. with slightly low tempo rhythm... or any simple lick as he was not singing so playing chords only is not a good option. He should had sounded 10000 times better.

That's amazing, you explained it pretty well. But, you know at what point i understood he's a wannabe and not a guitarist (atleast a fine one) any guitarist would first check the tuning before strumming.

yea i totally agree with ya but see what i judged from the performance lol if you could call it that he wasn't even as clean as me and trust me man i dont even have like 2 full months of solid practice. the way he melodied the vocal part was toooooo sad like yea one could probably infer that he wanted girls and sex and that high lifestyle. i'll stand my ground on this and raghu and rajeev believe it or not may be a bunch of assholes but their analysis and intellect goes far beyond us. whatever they say in that moment is for the contestant more and for the viewer less lol. they get into the mind and yea ik most of my comment is not even related to your's its just that i wanted to vent lol and found your comment. peace have a great life :)
