    That Santos Dumont fits you like a glove. Surely the blue 58 has memories for you as it's been a staple from the beginning s of the Channel?
    Then again I've sold my bb ceramic to purchase a Glasshutte senator excellence which along with Grand Seiko sbgm221 gmt and Hanhart 417es are now my most worn.

    Hi Britt,
    I’ve got a core collection of 10 watches. And another 12 are in my second league. And there are a handful vintage watches as well as some Casios.
    On one hand I would like to shrink down the collection to maybe five serious pieces. But on the other hand it’s nice to have some fun watches as well.
    My most worn watches of last year are my Pelagos 39, my Cartier Santos WSSA0037 and my Omega Railmaster with the charcoal dial. But my Rolex OP is on a good fourth place. And during the summer I worn some of my more colourful watches like a Tissot Sideral with the yellow accents, my Moonswatch Mission to Sun or the Citizen Tsuyosa with the yellow dial.
    Best wishes,

    spot on about the winter-summer choices. Also agree that once you have a SS bracelet with some kind easy adjustment for that half a centimeter, it is hard to go back. Also hard to even entertain butterfly clasp SS bracelets with zero adjustment. Thats my main beef with Grand seikos actually, not having on the fly micro adjustment. If they added that, they would easily have the best bracelet on the market.

    I completely agree! I'm keeping all my watches for these reasons. The memory and attachement + the potential regrets are not worth the money I'd get. I just wait a bit more to buy new ones, and as unuseful as they are, this is not a big deal :)

    SEASONAL WATCH CHOICES!😃 TO me, like wake up early morning and going college on a COLD and CLOUDY day, makes me FEEL like wearing a blue divers watch (seiko sports srpd) cause it just relates to me😅, on a SUNNY early morning, definitely a poppy bright coloured dial watch like the citizen TSUYOSA (YELLOW) and when its RAINING, GSHOCK is the best I can wear cause I can be more CAREFREE about it! AND rolex OP is not at all a BORING CHOICE😅, ITS JUST SO SIMPLE AND DECENT! WHENEVER I think of a PERFECT WATCH, a rolex op always comes to my MIND! A year ago, I bought a super Mario x gshock watch cause I liked BOTH GSHOCK and SUPER MARIO, WAS REALLY HAPPY WHEN I GOT IT! but now I don't WEAR it that much but still really HAPPY😀 to OWN it! Thanks for the video WATCH GRINGA! that SHOT with the M&M's and those oyster perpetuals was really COOL AND CREATIVE!

    Fell out of love with my BB58 as well and traded it towards my new blue FXD, which I adore (and got at a 10% discount from my AD). For me personally, the FXD is a better watch and I have other dressy sport watches on a bracelet that have better bracelets and that I was wearing much more often than the BB 58. I know they are different colors, but it seems like you don’t need both the BB 54 and the BB 58, especially if you aren’t wearing the latter.

    Seiko king Turtle, I have watches that cost significantly more but this one is my go to. It was my first automatic and I wear it to work, motorcycle riding, mountain biking, hiking and swimming in the ocean. The more wear and tear the more I like it. A bit ironic that my first watch on my collecting journey is still my favourite.

    Leather is also a more tactical choice in the winter, it keeps your hands warmer in freezing temperatures than steel which will freeze. Rubber will get stiff so canvas and leather make more sense. I chose leather for a roadtrip in Alberta and it was the right choice.
    Britt, I also am getting very selective on watches. Im thinking about going from a $400 Helm Miyako to getting a Christopher Ward Aquitaine GMT, my grail. But the truth is I don't think I would ever feel comfortable with $2000 on my wrist that could be invested elsewhere for my future. I would rather go for a San Martin Milsub or Proxima original design for $300 and just enjoy that. I wouldnt worry about it getting scratched, thats for sure. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @rf10is
      @rf10is 9 місяців тому +1

      I completely agree that it is wiser to put £2000 somewhere other than a watch if thats a large amount of your net worth.
      However I also believe sometimes its better to just save up for the watch you really want rather than burning £300 for a 'its good enough' watch

    • @younusimam-thesalamproject6340
      @younusimam-thesalamproject6340 9 місяців тому

      @rf10is agree! I just think it's not a good idea to waste that money on a watch when it could be used to set up your future. Saving up really isn't an issue for me, it's just a question of opportunity cost

    • @rf10is
      @rf10is 9 місяців тому +1

      @younusimam-thesalamproject6340 I dont want to tempt you into a poor financial choice lol, but,
      A beautiful timepiece grail watch is kind of an investment into your future, thats something you fall in love with, and still brings you great joy 6 years later.
      Having said that its extremely risky to do this if you have only seen the watch online and not actually seen it in person or tried it on

    • @younusimam-thesalamproject6340
      @younusimam-thesalamproject6340 9 місяців тому

      @rf10is idk, the problem is it becomes hard to justify a $2000 watch. But a $300 that gets 96% of it right (like a Proxima) has a much lower financial impact, plus, I know im going to be able to enjoy it without concern. It's literally a drop in the bucket. That's what I'm having to grapple with. Maybe I will save the purchase of that grail for when I've gotten a promotion or financial windfall. Thanks for this though. The Aquitaine GMT really ticks off 99% of my boxes so it's definitely a consideration!

    I totally get this - I amassed a 40+ collection and grew weary and tired of watches - collection anxiety / fatigue sets in

    1 grail - 1 sentimental - 1 beater
    Never been more content

    Seasonal is how I justify keeping some of the watches that don't get as much wrist time. Though as someone pretty active, I tend towards bracelets and non-leather straps throughout the year.
    My most worn this past year was my Grand Seiko Mistflake. Sometimes I wore it throughout the week. Others I would swap between it and another watch until the weekend hit. But I don't think it's ever had the power reserve fully run down since getting it back in January. I didn't actually but many watches during the year until the end when there were a few as gifts to myself for Christmas and celebrating finishing some painful work projects so I wore a good chunk of my collection doing this swapping. Besides the Mistflake, I'd say my blue Santos and a white G.O Panomatic Moonphase got the next most use. My blue Ti CW Twelve did give them a run for their money when it arrived in November though. It only left the daily wear pairing when I went on a trip for New Year's and didn't take it with me. We'll see what this year brings. I've had two new watches come in, one waiting to get through customs (though admittedly a weekend watch), hopefully my Bel Canto preorder being fulfilled in the coming months, and am trying to make sure I have some money banked in case anything new revealed at Watches & Wonders catches my interest.

    I'm not sentimental. I love watches but they're just tools on a wrist. Memories are memories.
    Recently sold a lot of my collection. It was far too big and I didn't enjoy the OTT lavish nature of such a big collection. Enjoying a smaller collection that I actually connect with far more.

    A nice and honest video. If you are not financially strapped, just keep your BB58, it's an old friend.
    My most worn are as follows:
    1. Apple watch 8, it is just so helpful at work and legible.
    2. Seiko Samurai (black dial) it has been a really good watch and once regulated, keeps great time.
    3. Seiko Alpinist SPB 241 (cream dial) I put it on a Horween leather strap and it is the GADA watch.
