At the end of 2022 my wife and I stayed in our house in Thailand for about 40 days. During that time my wife oversaw some renovations on the property. She hired a local contractor, her sister knew the guy so she was pretty sure we wouldn't get ripped off. They did a great job with renovations and took care of a few other odds and ends that popped up along the way. They worked quickly and prices were reasonable. The main problem was the stress my wife had because she had to oversee the project with the builders but she threw herself right in and did a great job. I enjoyed taking pictures and keeping my mouth shut.
Best part was when little puppy runs out and flops and rolls. That was so cute. Total believer in sleeping apart , show me any mammal in nature that sleeps together and defo not after having kids. I think it shows respect and consideration.
My thai wife sleeps with our 3 year old son in the master bedroom. I sleep in another bedroom which doubles as a playroom. I often have anxiety at night (pretty sure its PTSD from childhood when my dad made me sleep alone after watching horror movies with him like Poltergeist), and often wake up at 2:30 or 3:30 am. No problem at all because I turn on some mood lights, turn on the TV, fire up some top shelf cannabis in my Volcano vape, and ease into a cozy morning before I fall asleep again into sweet dreams. No way my wife would tolerate that in her bedroom!
Yup, buying materials yourself is the way to go. My mother in law managed our entire house build since we are stuck here in the US for the forseeable future.
I loved that open kitchen. It looks like a room. Your cottage is my favorite build on your farm, the way it looks out over the lawn and the other places. When I lived in LA I just didn’t go anywhere in the summer. Coming from Holland. At 40, I was not used to this climate. Grateful to live in Monterey now ! Demo is so funny ! So is Hugo.. good luck with all of it Ryan !❤
My Thai wife and I also don't sleep together. We used to before we had Anna. She is now nearly 7. It just seems normal here. We love each other but she loves her family nest. I think building a man cave is really important. I will copy your idea when we move on to our land. When you are together all the time. Personal space is sacred space. Good luck with the build.
We have been together pretty much 24/7 for the past 27 years and my wife would struggle to sleep without me next to her. She passes out immediately when her head lands on my shoulder. I have agreed on an acceptable bedtime but in the morning she gets up well before I do. Obviously the separate rooms works for you but I am guessing you are in the minority with that sleeping arrangement. No doubt some will tell you that you are doing it wrong but just keep doing what works for you.
Good to see the building expansion/new room project starting. M150, or M roi ha sip is a great energy drink with caffeine, taurine, and B vitamins! All for 10 baht as I recall. Sleeping with a partner was difficult as we both snored, so was a race to see who fell asleep first! 555 Also preferred temperature for sleep can be different, and as Damo said, work schedules can be different and children of course should sleep with parents when young. All good guys, good to see you, but missing the Hugo and Otis antics in this vlog. Stay Happy and Healthy. Peace and Love Y'all
Here is how to sleep together when you have kids: 1. King Bed: Baby sleeps on mothers side with a long pillow between if mother moves around a lot. 2. Mother breastfeeds as soon as baby wants it = no crying. 3. Parents can do their thing when baby is sleeping 4. Kids grow up they can have a separate bed 1 meter away with cloth partition so parents can do their thing when kids asleep. Kids can join parents in bed later that night after parents already done their exercise. * The advantages here are using only 1 air con per room and no baby crying. Its not perfect but worked for us. When kid is 8 to 10 they can get their own room
we get the kids to sleep then have 3-4 hours together in my cinema room with our cctv on the kids and then my wife goes to bed. I generally stay up later for the stock market 👍
Not only in Thailand, but in other Asian countries, it's not unusual that the babies sleep with their mum, or with the parents together, with the cot or bed in the same room temporarily till they grow bigger. Even more so if she's breast-feeding. It's not like in the west where days old babies are already sent to sleep alone. Asian women mostly have no heart to leave their babies alone and feel it's safer to be near their babies.
I'm 65 you American and I just let my intuition lead me w child rearing and my son slept w me throughout his childhood. And I as a child, started out in my room, but always ended up in my parents' bed and later my sister's. I think children naturally feel safer that way.

We went to see a few but I wasn’t keen - they felt quite cheap and were loud to walk on - I wasn’t convinced we would get more than 10-15 years out of it, saying this I know some subscribers have found good ones 👍🙏
Not sleeping together is a bad habit to get into imo. Coming from experience. Thai women already have a problem of sleeping with their children for way too long in my opinion. I stopped this habit and it immediately meant that both child and mother started to have quality sleep which then improved their mood😂. I am almost convinced that with the heat and the early starts in Thailand that most Isaan people are suffering from sleep deprivation. Sleeping together helps grow a dependence that makes it hard to be apart. Good for partners but not something you need for children because you're trying to train them to become independent.
We didn’t sleep together before the kids - was a nightmare - I work and trade stocks at night she is in bed at 8. I also like my own man cave - it’s all personal choice however 👍
@@lifeinruralthailand yep I agree that its personal and if it works for you that's great. Just changed my opinion after going down that road didn't turn out for the best in the long run for me.

You mean the prefab? if so i dont like the feel of them and they heat up very fast, we looked at some but it works out cheaper and stronger to build :)
@@lifeinruralthailandyes pre fab. The concreate also absorbs the day time heat and slowly radiate back out at night.
We went to see a few but I wasn’t keen - they felt quite cheap and were loud to walk on - I wasn’t convinced we would get more than 10-15 years out of it, saying this I know some subscribers have found good ones 👍🙏
@@lifeinruralthailand thank you for the insight also considering the pre fabs for my land 😉🤝 looking forward to the new room updates. Cheers 🍻
Very nice property you got there, mate. Sorry if you’ve mentioned it before, what was the build cost of the main cottage?
About 800k thb 🙏🙏
@@lifeinruralthailand cheers mate, that’s a bargain

Can’t agree about the phone excuses.. I have not met a Thai that has no phone yet.
All those that did my wife’s build had phones.

Adding a secret love chamber?😂
Not telling!
When you buy in Thailand then if.a couple separates the foreigner loses all because a foreigner cant own a house...sounds like a big risk to me.
Superficies agreement
This happens in the USA Too
Keep 90% of net worth in stocks , Bitcoin and precious metals
So no 16 week builds from consent to hand over with penalties then. Is that where your hair went?
I thought Otis was going out there. Your going to need a wrist brace, is that why a bit on the side is common there?
None of that
Hair went long ago
Not sure about but on the side

@@lifeinruralthailand I might of of got the country wrong with minor wives & having a mistress being common for locals.
