Jeff Buckley is from my generation but I discovered him only after his death. Such a talented artist and such a sad ending. Thanks for reminding him.
It's eerie How much of his lyrics seem quasi-prophetic, in light of the circumstances of his death.
Every song on "Grace" is stunningly spectacular!!!
His interpretation of Calling you always make me cry. The best version of all time!
Aw, I love how much you appreciate Jeff's talent! There really is no one like him. I've been a fan since the 90's and I listen to him just as often now as I did then xx
I rediscovered Jeff because of you! You mentioned him during Dimash’s “reaction “. He was performing when I was a teenager. I guess he wasn’t psychedelic enough for me. Well, I can’t get enough of him now. I listen to Grace every day. Thank you very much 😊❤️
I certainly raise how difficult what he did was because he is my favourite singer of all time.
I really feel his soul and passion in every note.
One of the great tragedies was losing him so young.
All I know is that great singers love Jeff Buckley. Robert Plant and Chris Cornell for two.
He was great. My Generation as his father, Tim Buckley was a great singer songwriter of the 60’s had an untimely death also. Thank you for doing this, he dos the best version of Leonard Cohen’s HALLELUJAH.
Jeff Buckley singing reminds me of Ezra pounds quote when writing he wanted every word to surge with energy, with Jeff every notes surge with energy.
HE IS AMAZING
I'm loving your insights into these great singers, especially as an amazing singer yourself
Love everything about this performance, the focus is often on his vocal and guitar play an no doubt on another level but credit to all of them and a special mention Mick Grondahl for that stunning bass performance.
I chat to Mick Grøndahl bassist of Jeff Buckley band! getting his autograph soon!
Thank you for your knowledge, talent, and enthusiasm in reacting to Jeff Buckley, whom I consider the most beautiful singer in my lifetime anyway.
Oh wow, I'm really thankful for his one 😊 One of my favorite singers ever. Not "only" technically amazing, but I also love how he portrayed emotion... he has a certain emotional effect on me hardly anyone else has.
I'm always sad seeing him overlooked nowadays. As we're on YT, here are so many "best singers" lists (that are not even done halfway professionally) and Jeff is not on a single one of them, cause they always go for the huge names (Mercury and MJ for example, no offense, I really like them, and they were great, but you can't compare them with Jeff). Same sometimes also happens to amazing Steve Perry btw (but I stylistically prefer Jeff, and even though Steve has the even higher degree of technical "flawlessness" when singing live, I prefer Jeff because of his stylistic choices and because what he did was way more technically challenging than Steve's songs, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to compare anyway). In my opinion Jeff is definitely among the Top 5 of best singers ever, and really stands out with his uniqueness
Yeah, he is rarely at the top of popular lists but amongst musicians most highly rate him :)
One of my favorite singers! When I heard him sing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", I was sold. Couldn't wait to dive in to more of his art. Just so gifted. Gone too soon!
Far too soon. It's sad to think to think of the songs he would have written we never got to hear.
@@CalebColesMusic I couldn't agree more. Such artistry, and that voice was otherworldly. One of my favorite things about a vocal artist is when they don't have any issue with pitch or perfection, they simply feel and want you to embrace that feeling and convey it perfectly. Just pure art.
@@mamatrop Yeah I know exactly what you mean. He was always like that, wasn't he? You never felt he was trying to reach notes or think about his voice. He was just expressing himself :)
@@CalebColesMusic It may sound odd, but sometimes it sounds like a person's in the throes of grief or joy and just letting go. My gosh it hits you in the feels. It just is. Not under the influence or anything, just pure. Whew! Chills. He shouldn't be compared to anyone. There are some artists who can convey this and they deserve their own listen and just revered for their own gift. Enjoyed our visit Caleb. Have a great day!
Jeff always reminds me very much of his father, from whom I had all the records. For me he's a chip of the old block. Very special.
As Jeff wrote, himself "The only thing i stole from my father was a fleeting glance!"
That was fantastic...cheers man.
Awesome reaction and comments Caleb. Thanks a bunch for reminding me how exceptionally beautiful his singing was.
Always love this performance - especially when @10:12 Jeff looks right into the camera like he's asking, "You're watching this shit, right?"
This is going into my favorites playlist. Thank you for reviewing this and ur beautiful comments on Jeff’s Artistry.😇🥰
Muse... my favourite band, thanks to an interview with Deezer i discovered Jeff... Matt said that Jeff gave him the confidense to sing rock music despite his high pitched voice
definitely check out nothing but thieves! they opened for muse and have a similar style with a vocalist who's very much inspired by buckley so they're a perfect blend of the two
@@badatlettingo yes i heard some tracks from them! Which r your favourites? Clearly influenced by jeff thank you and have a nice week!
@@Lisogarcia I have way too many if I'm honest, but some that give off Buckley vibes the most would be Itch, Lover, Please Stay, and Afterlife. Their cover of Lover, You Should've Come Over is sublime! thank you, and likewise!
Hello bro,
Thanks for the Jeff Buckley reaction which brought back some memories. He tackled one of my all-time favorite songs by Leonard Cohen, Hallelujah!! It's awesome that we all have our own uniqueness and interpretations. BTW, I really like the new setup in your studio ☺
I love Tim and Jeff.
...there's no artist that makes me feel like he does. And it's not a bias, he's amazing on the guitar, he's an incredibly gifted and talented singer, his writing is impeccable, and his songs sound like they aren't from any era...how??? Who does this? He was a genre to himself. He has unreleased opera songs, live stuff, coffee shop stuff....fking sad he's gone. I'm a musician and a language teacher so in that regard I hurt for his loss in contribution to the music and writing world. We lost a genius with only ONE album? How much of a joke is that of god?god?? "Here, have an angeel......foe one album". Cruel. And my heart breaks. Jeff, thank you. Your music has saved my life.
👏👏👏💖🌷✨ I am in love with his voice and music!
By the way, Tim Buckley's albums is called greeting from LA.
I clearly didn't know anything about him. thanks for opening my eyes (and ears) to him.
Jeff IS the greatest singer of all time! id like to see anybody name someone, who is half as technically gifted or half as creative as Jeff was!
Hmm I personally prefer Jeff's style and way to portray emotion, and I love Jeff and absolutely understand why you do too, but I kind of feel that you may notbe really open for such suggestions anyway. Hmm But just in case and because I'd like to to do him justice: Dimash
@@Roman-yt8up excellent choice 😊❤ (but I love Jeff too, and I love that Caleb did this reaction video)
@@Roman-yt8up dude.....i have checked out Dimash b4 in the past... i cant stand his soulless overdramatic persona
He was definitely the best, really liked his dad Tim also...
been listening to all genre's for 50 years, and Grace, hands down, is the greatest album top to bottom I have ever experienced. Your review is magnificent. I so much apprecieate your professionalism and thoughtful commentary. you dig deep and that's awesome!!
What about his late great father Tim Buckley who was magnificent in his own right. Listening to Tim, you will understand from where Jeff's voice came from. Like father, like son even though, remarkably, they never really had any kind of relationship.
He had a 12 string rickenbacker that he played for certain songs but this is just a standard tele i think.
I remember the day we heard he passed. We all sobbed. One of the greatest singers of all time! Love him singing ua-cam.com/video/y8AWFf7EAc4/v-deo.html out of this world. He died way too soon. Stunning artist!
Not only a hell of a guitarist but a hell of a singer. Tragic that he didn't record more
Absolutely
I think if i sing like jeff..people will laugh to me 🤷♂️..great voice..but he just natural singing style..thats how he do it
Awesome break down!
definitely check out nothing but thieves!! their vocalist is hugely inspired by Buckley and their cover of lover, you should've come over is truly the most tender and sweet tribute there ever was
haha, I thought the same the first time i saw it but it's not a 12 string, it's just the reflection of the strings
that's a 6 string but seems to be a 12 string because of chrome pick gaurd and reflection.
I have this CD. Hallijulia is on it! It is great...Grace, is also great....His father Tim Buckley died young also...as did Jeff..I believed he drowned in a quarry. This is a wonderful history..
Yeah, he was also a great singer. Very tragic they both died so young.
@Mary Ciraso Jeff drowned in the Wolf River tributary of the Mississippi. Tim died of heroin overdose.
James Graham who won "the four" might be worth reacting too.
*Matt Bellamy Discussing Jeff Buckley's Influence on His Voice:* ua-cam.com/video/BWeMpWEegfI/v-deo.html&app=desktop
Thom Yorke, and the rest of the guys from Radiohead, went to see Jeff perform at The Garage in London, circa 1994. Thom was so moved that he ended up leaving the show early. He said that that concert experience had a direct influence on his vocal delivery on Fake Plastic Trees.
Great clip!! Thanks for sharing. He was one do the few singers who was universally praised by other musicians and singers. That says a lot!
The singer from muse is Matt Bellamy!
You know Tim Buckley his Father? Hear him with his 4 octaves.
Did you see who was on the wall at Marc Martel's sound room?
8:41 totally agree
Doc Carter “Angel”
His father is Tim Buckley, I’m not sure if you were privy
I agree
Diana Ankudinova - Rechenka (River), please
React to IU blueming and above the time she is songwrite, actres, produser, composer and queen singers in south korean
Jeff WILL make you forget Matt's very name
Man he is his fathers son. Same kind of getting the jam on. Caleb, I love how you break things down. I love to see you recognize amazing artist. Man, so hard to watch since I loved his dad so much in the 70's.
Hey Caleb 👋
If you are looking for some great singing talent from around the world, I would love to see you react to *Angelina Jordan* from Norway
She is an amazing young artist that will blow you away with the amount of powerful old soul she pours into this performance at only 9 years old. Do not let the age fool you... Many big names in the music industry believe she will become a legend some day. I promise you will not be disappointed.... I have Jeff Buckley's autograph!
cost a lot of £££!
I have never heard this singer before OMG you are right those vibratos are incredible, never heard something like that. I'm muse's fan too, but Matt's vocals have nothing to do with this
Yeah, and this is just the beginning of what Jeff can do! I'm also a Muse fan but Jeff was just on another level :)
From what I gathered, Matt Belamy's vocal was inspired by Jeff Buckley.
@@CalebColesMusic Not being a fan of Muse, I heard the influence of Jeff in one Bellamy’s live performance. So when I came home I googled it and I found an interview. So, without being an expert I could notice that.
His music was great, but I literally couldn't understand a single word. Was he speaking English and if so what kind of accent is that?
Yeah it is hard to hear sometimes, particularly in this one as it is not the best mix.
"That looks like a 12 string..." on what is clearly a normal Tele. That's about right for youtube shit.
No offense to Jeff Buckley but in my opinion I think Dimash is the best singer ever.
I think they are both on the same level, with different strengths. Dimash has a bigger range, and more overall dynamics in terms of power etc. However Jeff has more fluidity within those dynamics and is able to to do something really special.
What is awesome is that they both are able to really connect with people with their voices. For me, they are close to equal vocally.
psh.....Dimash is WAY too Over dramatic as a performer...it's annoying as shit!
@Daniel Swift
please don't do that. We love Dimash but Jeff is Jeff and we have to respect him.
@@Julian8794 Great comment Julian8794! People who love Dimash are polite, cultural and respectful of other artists. They are the same as Dimash. Best regards.
I seriously thought you were a bobblehead
damn your cam is 10 fps
Some weird stuttering in this clip for some reason! It is 30fps but yeah something weird happened.
Not a 12 string
Wow, I went and listen to get a reference..Have you ever heard of his father Tim Buckley? I had the pleasure in 1974 to see him and chat and party. it was a smaller venue in S.F. Area. Unfortunately he dies in I believe 1978 from overdose. He looks a lot like his dad and it is so tragic with both father and son. If you wish to hear something from his dad, listen to sweet surrender. I loved them both.
well...when you were "chatting" in 1974...you should've told him to go back home to his 7 yr old son JEFF...Tim was a SHIT human being...a straight deadbeat.
Music is like perfume, a personal choice. I dont find this guy touches me with his voice, dimash does. Do you like KD Lang?
You like your own voice much too much .. your finished
IM NOT IMPRESSED..
I agree I’m not impressed. He was my era but I find home too screechy. Sorry😘
not my era but I love him 😊 excellent talent, vocally, overall musically, and also in conveying emotions
@@Roman-yt8up Jeff passes the ear test...you hear him once and you JUST KNOW he's the greatest!
so gay. My comment deleted 1 second after posting it..
Life is not what it seams.
Yikes. I feel bad. I didn’t find that pleasing to listen to at all. But it’s our differences that make life interesting. 😊
You cannot imagine what it was like hearing him perform live just he and his guitar. He played every Monday night and it was different every Monday night. You should try to listen to Live at Sine which was taped over a couple of Monday night's. That guitar style took up as much room as the whole band did in this video. And his voice took up the rest of the space. There will never be anything like it again.
Oh, to have been your eyes, ears and lungs back then. What a treasure you have.
