I'm honored to be featured again! Probably need to work on the visuals a bit tho. Lighting in the Halo 3 engine is just such a pain to get working right. That cave section in Frozen Frontier looks terrible, but I just can't get it to look normal! Damn you Halo 3 light mapper! Also a story that's a bit more than "Do a thing and win", like the other maps in this video, might be a fun thing to try at some point. Also, fun fact about Scarab AI: movement of the scarab is based on a random number generator that you have to manually script. Every couple seconds it gets told by the map scripts to move to a new random spot. If you don't do some kind of variation of this scripted behaviour, the Scarab hardly moves at all. This is why the Scarabs in The Convenant mostly just kind of stand there.
Ayy! I worked on TSC:E back in the day, it's always awesome to see people enjoying our hard work, and even more awesome to have new people be introduced to it. Thank you so much for showcasing the years of effort that went into that map.
TSCE is definitely a favorite of mine, even just in terms of raw flow and gameplay, it helps TSC feel less like the demo level for CE, I felt the original could have had a little more going on in it. It's also a way for folks to experience SPV3-adjacent content on Steam, since the devs confirmed it's never going to get ported (it would have to be rebuilt from the ground up). Mercury Rising also has a special place since I'm a sucker for multiplayer maps converted into campaign missions and oversized CE maps are perfect for such things.
Thanks for including my mod and showing off some others! Always nice when people help modders get there work out there 😀 Mission 4 is coming along nicely, and yes i do intend to remake Hijacked eventually, i had ni idea what i was doing then haha Its cool to see so many other custom mission mods now, they all look great and have their unique flare to them!
It’s tough to decide which one’s my favourite mod honestly, but Skorly’s maps are kinda fun to do some speedruns. New Covenant is great too, but MIA would probably be my favourite since the map is so open, it opens up DC launching capabilities. Mercury Rising was amazing too, with the usage of Digsite and CE+ assets. TSC:E is astounding as well.
I think all the projects have different strengths. TSC:E is still definitely my overall favorite tho. It's almost as nostalgic to me as the original Silent Cartographer. Frozen Frontier does come pretty close tho. I love the Scarab encounter in that one
I remember playing Cartographer Evolved forever ago on Custom Edition. While all the maps are very cool, seeing older Custom Edition maps brought into MCC and having cooperative support is a real winner for me. Just getting to play ANY of those old mods with friends is a game changer
Always great to see the standalone release of TSC:E get the recognition it deserves! I prefer SPV3's version, but the original is also something very special and it's nice to see it get even more love from the community.
Kill Billus was super fun to play. I really dislike Halo 3 as a whole but Kill Billus felt super inspired. I did cheese the final boss with a ghost tho.
Great video as always! Really enjoy these mod showcases. I love Halo mods, and I wish people in the community would talk about them more. I think Skorly's missions are IMO the best out of the bunch in terms of gameplay and encounter design, but the visuals are kinda meh. Skorly doesn't seem to care at all about story, so people who are into Halo just for the world building and lore might be a bit disappointed with the maps. My favorite part about Skorly's mods are probably the changes to the enemy AI. The enemies feel really smart and dangerous in his mods. The spartan laser brutes as snipers is a great idea New Covenant is kind of the opposite of Skorly's maps. There is a much larger focus on story, but the encounter design and gameplay arn't great. The story in this kind of serves as a replacement for Halo 4's story in the lore. I think the cutscenes are really well made, and I think the "New Covenant" bad guys in this are potentially more interesting than the prometheans. I do think some of the writing and voice acting scream fan mod tho, but that doesn't really bother me. It's kind of charming in its own way. I don't think the level design is great tho. I think the second mission is by far the best one. Lot of people seem to like the 3rd one as well, but I generally hate Flood levels, so it doesn't do a whole lot for me. Mercury Rising is very interesting, where I think the custom tags are both its greatest asset and greatest weakness. It gives a completely fresh experience, but a lot of the new enemies are quite unfun to fight. The map really starts to turn into hitscan and sniper hell after a while. I actually didn't know that this map was originally a multiplayer map, so I think the author did a good job making it NOT feel like a multiplayer map with enemies on it. I also really like the design of these new enemies, especially the slugmen. The Silent Cartographer: Evolved is currently my overall favorite Halo mod. It feels like a whole new Halo game. It's based on The Silent Cartographer but it feels like its own thing. I hope the team behind it makes more Halo mods in the future!
Honestly it's only the modding community that facinates me about Halo anymore. I really wish there was a way to come out with a fully packaged game pack that could allow even the most inexperienced Tech guys to play, even on the console side. With all these amazing projects and add ons people have done.
i want to shout out music from the doom community as a source of music for halo modders that wont flag people so digging around there may prove fruitful. starter being TNT: revolution
All these cut content enemies need to be iterated on. Not just thrown into a mod! Sounds to me like the creator of the mod was like "ohh shiny!!!! new content!!! Oh I know! Let's put them in my mod. People will love it!!!" And that's what he did without even thinking about iterating on the content.
I’d like to see an improvement to the human vehicle mods. Specifically the ability for cobra and jackrabbit to shoot one direction and drive another. Use reach style grenade launcher and Allie you to shoot behind just like scorpion can. Slow fire rate but with emp for balance.
@The Vengeful 'Vadam Do you think that you will revert the battle rifle animation on uncut to the E3 one again? I do understand why it was changed however though I do find it funny that people complained about it, I of course wasn't one that minded it at all as I loved how it made the game much more detailed. (I know that you did mention in your stream a few month's back that the tag was still left in as optional unfortunately though I would change the tag if I knew how though I don't really know how to edit tag's in halo 2 or any mcc halo.)
i thought the halo spv was shut down. i gues not. i have no idea how to get into all this. what do i need. a pc, a halo pc game? then what? love to play these new mods.
@@TheVengefulVadam ah i see, thanks for the information. i don't follow the mods much but i love the content i have seen. hopefully i play the games soon. i'm getting bord of the xbox versions lol
What puts me off is the absolute abysmal gameplay of the flood mission. It’s like you took the worse elements from Cortana, Oracle and Quarantine Zone, combined them, and then made them worse.
How do i find these on Steam? And please in lamens terms I'm very new to steam Ive already tried he search bar and looking for them through the community
The Halo campaign Modding era has already begun. And we are hopeless to stop it.
but then again, why would we want to stop it?
Love that Halo is continued to be supported by the modders
"Always has been."
@@Vuthakral I know m8 been modding halo since the OG xbox got modded just was saying

Having SPV3 stuff like the silent cartographer evolved is so awesome!
7:23 Funnily enough, thats actually the same weapon used by the forerunners in Halo Legends during the forerunner flood war.
Great video, thank you so much for showcasing TSC:E!
Mods like these are a gift, campaign ones have limitless potential

No doubt about it the Silent Cartographer Evolved mod, and TNR revisited.

I feel sorry for the TSC:Evolved being sucked up into SPV3, such a bloated mess. Gave me ptsd flashbacks of dA inflation art.
Thanks for making this kind of content, I played all of these except TSC, I did not notice it, gonna play it :)
Thank goodness, I have something to watch while doing Precalculus.

never knew tsce and spv3 were different things, time to play it again
I'll have to give some of these levels a go, thanks for sharing!
like the good ol days of halo custom edition

That sentinel weapon on new covenant has a pretty obnoxious muzzle flash, regardless these all look pretty fun

Why is Halo 3: New Covenant not available in the Steam workshop? Did it get removed?

This version of TSCE is not affiliated with SPV3. It’s based off of the original release of the map BEFORE it was picked up by SPV3.

@@asteelopaparazzi1300 all of the mods you've installed? That's usually means the mods outdated, unless the mod makers updated to match current mcc

How is halo 2 uncut going?
whats the soundtrack at 3:31?
Are these all on steam workshop?
did something heppen with SPV3 and masters?
He created a bloated mess
