Unfortunately true. Having the villain being a player seems like it could add a lot to the replayability of the game. Seems too early to make a firm decision on this.

SwingDancer61 Last two were The Journey and Fable III, they are pretty bad. The Journey relied on kinect as a gimmick, also had little to do with original games. Third one had a lot of unnecessary, atrocious gameplay changes. First two games are commonly accepted as the best ones.

You're confirming my point. The last game in the franchise that you liked was released in 2008. Trying to compete against Borderlands instead of competing against Dragon Age, Witcher and Elder Scrolls might be what the devs had in mind.

Yeah. Usually they do that to show of some kind of features in the game that are new. I think this looks good enough, and it is most likely pre-aplha, as well as an MMO and it can change, so for that I am excited in case it doesn't do well. I want a new Fable single player, but this looks cool. I do think the experience orbs and the money from the chest animations are out of place however.
It's not pre-recorded, but it is well rehearsed. It's a common practice when showcasing new video games. They practice the routine a few times to make it look like it's all natural and amazing. Another example of this was God of War Ascension I believe. If you saw the behind the scene.

What Fable needs is to go back to Fable 1 gameplay, Fable 2 leveling system, Fable 3 graphics and art, and make a big map like Morrowind, or Oblivion, or even Skyrim. NOT this bullshit, coming from a guy who remembers Fable TLC being one of the first games I have ever played, this is said, its not a Fable anymore.

They've been working on this for ages and I can tell this is going to bomb. It doesn't look fun or interesting. It's pretty, but that's about it. This franchise has gotten less liked over the years. They should have tried to go for a Fable/Fable:TLC atmosphere/style, and perhaps explored the beginnings of The Heroes Guild and branched its history out more. Or, to the time before the guild when outlaws, villainy, etc was at its peak with few "heroes" actually around(become a paragon or the evilest mofo around). Give the player total customization over their character and trying to make it so they don't look like potato faces(sorry, but the champs in 2 and 3 were hideous). I think this will have been a waste of money, and maybe aside from petty phone apps, this'll be the last of Fable.
Such a shitty thing. That was my first RPG and what made me love the genre so much. 2 and 3 disappointed me beyond belief and I was thinking this might be interesting as I was seeing screenshots on FB of development... and no. I'm not liking what I'm seeing. I probably wont even give this game try. Maybe I'll see if someone else is playing and try to like it, but I really don't think that'll be possible.

The thing about Lion head is that they don't focus on making a better game, just propose gimmicks and boasts but then give us a half-assed game that doesn't even meet basic standards of an RPG. Now fable has just become a joke compared to Dark Souls, Dragon Age and Dagons Dogma that does what Fable claims to do, better.

The whole point of Fable was live or die by your decisions and watch how those choices u made change the game further down the line. They're trying to copy elder scrolls online a bit. It's just poor. Idk why they don't just make another game similar to The Lost Chapters but create a different plot line, add new spells, weapons, armor, difficult boss fights... everything after TLC has been really disappionting

2.make it open world
3.add the craziest customer customization/ weapon upgrades/ skills

I've only played Fable's 2 and 3, but looking at this, somehow I kinda felt like it lost the charm that made "Fable"...well,"Fable". Something seems off. Idk. Can't really say much until the game comes out. I really hope Shrek is in this one.

I'm sorry, but this is a massive downgrade from the first 3 Fables (Fable was great, Fable 2 was meh, and 3 was terrabad) but at least they had something that made it amazing, being able to customize your hero/villain. This takes that away and looks so leaniure that it takes away the fun. Honestly, they should of left the main aspects of fable alone and added onto the customization, as well as multiplayer. Like actually let players design the face as well as what skills they would like.
You're right except of two things. First Fable 2 was as awesome as Fable 1 more gameplay elements nice graphics and awesome story. Just missing a final battle like the one with Jack of Blades. And second Fable 3 was okay for itself. More or less the same like Fable 2 just put away the awesome story and replaced it with a boring story.

Sohail Qasim So does every other console. It's the dev's of the games that reach out to the public and if a console offers a great price to the game to make it exclusive then they'll take it.
It should be up to dev's to decide on which platform they want to release their titles on , they shouldn't force dev's to release exclusives titles.
And of course another skinny cheerleader with a shield bigger than she is as a STRENGTH character, because not only are all girls just as tough as us guys, they're much stronger too. Diablo 3 wasn't afraid to put meat on a girl's bones, if you're gonna wear a shitload of armor and use weapons bigger than you are, then you better have muscles to match.

Fable: TLC is one of the best games I've ever played, since they've gotten progressively worse.

I grew up with the Fable trilogy (if you want to call it that) and I still think this is a really interesting take on gameplay. Yeah, I can see there being issues with your villain being a total idiot, but it could be a lot of fun with you and four of your friends. If this game wasn't called "Fable" most people would probably not be posting what they are in the comments.
It's even more amusing because a large percentage of all these people saying how they won't support it probably still will. It's just like Diablo III was at launch, everyone was yelling about how they wouldn't buy it because it's always online due to DRM, but yet people still went out and bought it.
Saying you won't buy a game from a game company--in the hopes they change their game--is just like saying, "If I don't get ice cream I'll hold my breath until I DIE." when you were little speaking to your parents.

I wasn't going to talk bad on this game but the main idea that drove fable away from the other RPG's was the decision between good and evil and how it affected the world around you and your characters look... this is ridiculous, looks beautiful though
I don't know what you're all trash talking about, this is the first Fable game that actually looks fun to me. 3rd person strategic co-op dungeon crawl with an action based battle system? YES PLEASE.
The Villain RTS aspect is just icing on the cake.

I'm by no means a hater, but this is nothing like the classic Fable games from my childhood that were definitive for the series, I think that unfortunately I will have to abandon the Fable franchise after the facepalm that was the entirety of Fable 3. I'm sorry Lionhead, but please, move on.

they have stated a long time ago there are no intentions of ever making a fable 4, don't know if they gave an official statement saying they WONT do more but they certainly said they dont have the intention to do so.
they said the fable series (1-3) were supposed to follow a specific bloodline and now that the bloodline is over (as was shown in fable journey which could be considered a epilogue of sorts...i guess?) the series is over. They may spawn another single player type game or series of games in the fable universe of course.
personally i doubt a fable series will spawn again but i dont think one or two more separate spin off single player games would be out of the question....
personally i think fable journey could have been a decent (but still not great) game if it had been done in a different way but the kinect just wasn't (and pretty much still isn't) that great. Fable legends looks fucking awesome though and the only bit of criticism i have for it is that its founded on the lie that its "innovative" as if they are doing something new or different that hasn't been done. I can think of a few games where you play as the villain and try to fuck with the good guys...i can even think of a few where the good guys are other players. ignoring that lie though this game doesn't seem that bad and its honestly a bit too early to pass any form of final judgement on it so stop acting like its already shitty.

Battleswarm had the same gimmick where the human characters play a third person shooter, at the same time 1 or more players control aliens like they are playing starcraft. And that game was a ghost town last time I checked.

Fable 1 + 2 - great games, loved by fans, stuck to roots.
Fable 3 - Strayed away from the first 2, Lionhead tried "innovating". Got terrible reviews, many fans disliked it and strongly urged to go back to the the original.
So what does Lionhead do? Changed the game up even more, doesnt even look or feel like Fable, did the exact opposite of what fans wanted. What dumbasses, developers of this should be fired.

I wasn't hyped when I first saw this because it was no where near like the original Fable series, and I wasn't upset when I found out this was canceled... BUT it *would* have been nice to try this out though, I was a bit interested in this game setting 'Fable' aside. I am depressed that there will never be another true single player Fable like Fable The Lost Chapters ever again, Fable TLC was one of the first ever games I remember playing and still to this day my number one favorite game.
So much lore that was never answered and most of the lore was incomplete and now we will never know what happens in those blank spots.

The Wii U needs something like this, the villian playstyle seems like it would work very well with the gamepad.

I truly enjoy the Fable games. But in all honestly this looks like a giant mini game and you will have seen everything within the first hour.
I could be massively wrong but thats how it appears. The voice acting also seems to be god awful. I wouldn't touch it and can see many Fable fans leaving it alone to. I honestly believe Peter at Lionhead doesn't actually know what gamers want in general, let alone the fanbase Lionhead already had.
I think it look awesome too. What cracks me up is everyone keeps complaining that's it's not Fable 1,2, or 3. When clearly they said it centuries before fable 1 began. Also since it will have support for the next 5-10years they can lead the storyline back to fable one. But clearly right now it'll start when there were hundreds of Heroes. I'll miss the orginal fable games, but if I'm right that's what I think there trying to do.

I think they should make a fable game where you rebuild the Guild of Heroes; kind of like Fable 2, where you recruit Hammer, Garth, and Reaver, except this time with the intentions of rebuilding the Guild for the good; and then the main enemy should be closer to Jack or the Crawler

Unless they make a Fable during the old kingdom, possibly as one of the archons descendants before the spire blew everything up, then it would be amazing and with gameplay similar to but with improvements to the original Fable.

I totally agree. I used to sit at my computer on the wikis for hours immersing my self in the lore. I would love to be the hero who was personaly taught by William Black himself (Which you kind of were in the first fable, because I believe that Scythe was William). I want to fight Jack again, and explore new areas but still finding some familar places that we saw in fable 1,2,3. I would also like to actually see the currupt old kingdom before the Spire wipes it all away. But hey, lionhead needs to get their heads out of their asses and make a real fable game, and not this co-op hack and slash bullshit
Simon Ganley Actually what happened, was William was afflicted by a plague that came into the form the Darkness entities one of them being the Crawler, the Corruptor being it's leader was able to invade Albion using the link to the Void caused by the Spire.
As a matter of fact, there were three Heroes that used their will powers to close the link.
While their task was to close the link, they inadvertently caused the explosion that destroyed the Old Kingdom.
I like the redhead holding the controller.

I personally loved the last game, it was true to the fable franchise imo. A big world, with interesting characters and lots of customization. Wonder what made them stray from that?

I'm not retracting my first comment but I'll add to it. The RPG genre of video games has been around for about 35 yrs now. the two concepts they talk about here are neither unique or groundbreaking on their own. the concept of adventure parties have been done countless times as listed previously. creating your own rpg has been done in rpgmakers a few times. The idea of combining the two "might" be original, I can't say for sure. but truely the only way you can be original with something that's been around for a while is to "redefine" the genre. movies romero redefined the zombie genre with night of the living dead in the late 60's. before that movie zombies were stupid now it's the most popular genre in the mainstream.
This may get a pre-order if it shows promise in future reveals and trailers

I remember play testing this and it was so laggy and shallow and disappointing, which was a shame because the core ideas have a lot of merit. That said, I'm so relieved we're getting Fable 4 instead!
I'll be honest, as a fan of Fable since the beginning, this is pretty upsetting. I thought the last Fable spin off looked terrible, I mean come on, a rail shooter? But this is just another 4-player co-op game, and they tried twisting it to being unique by adding in, what, a tower defense "villain" character? Is Lionhead so detached from its own franchise now that it doesn't realize that the ability to be good/evil has always been a uniqueness about Fable?
Fable 1-3 were pretty consistent, each adding on something new from the last, though it was terribly upsetting to see the poor management done with Fable 3's release and DLC regarding Steam issues, Windows Live being terrible, and keys not working. Regardless of what people like to argue, Fable 2 and 3 were good games, and completely Fable in every way.
I personally see people who have major problems with Fable 2-3 (and even more with the people who can't list solid reasons why) as not real fans for what Fable was, but just bandwagoners. At this point, that doesn't even matter. If you say "I like the Fable franchise" today, it's now "oh, what part of it? The original singleplayer/2-player co-ops? Or the rail shooters and weird L4D+Bloons Tower Defenses?."
In other words, this is a sad direction to see this franchise heading, and it's a sad day to say there's zero hope left with a lot of longtime and longterm fans.
They should have concentrated more on the single player which fable is famous for. I wish games would stop trying to be like everything else. I know its not coming out but i dont think it would have been a good game anyway. Nothing like fable or fable 2 anyway.

Wow, graphics are the best I've ever seen for the series.I'm impressed. I'll be keeping an eye on it when it comes out, see what reviews have to say. I've really been let town by the fable series ever since the second, but I'm down for seeing where this goes. ^__^

For the most part the only complaint I've really had about the fable games is how they talk about game mechanics they've put in the game like no one has ever had it before.
OK im loving this but this has got to have 4 things to be perfect
1. a good single/multi player story line so its fun to play offline, with changing enemies for a different experience each time you play
2. total character customization both online and offline
3. player vs player team battles so players can play against each other not just as villains controlling other characters from above but being actually down in the mud fighting as yourself
4. unique character abilities and lots of them,
these would make this totally awesome combined with the current way of game play would be incredible and if it went online, it would blow league of legends out of the water, or at least give it a run for the top

Edit: ... interesting concept, practicality...? No. So this is an online multiplayer RPG now where I need to rely on people knowing what to do? Great when you've stressed for a good group, I just have the greatest feeling this'll promote loads of discrimination for players who don't know what they're doing, or the 'Villain' will be targeting the weakest of characters and box it lol.

Wait what? There's a new Medievil? Or do you mean Medievil 2? Because that was OKAY.. but the change in voices annoyed me.
I am afraid that then they made "MediEvil: Resurrection" which is not even near to Medievil 1 and 2 :(
I think that they change the teams that work on these old games or they just forget what made them special ._.

They made a more advanced version of "Mighty Quest For Epic Loot" and stapled the name Fable to it.. This game doesn't have the good or evil main character feel to it that Fable is famous for.. No choices that influences the outcome of your character and his/her kingdom..
the villain gameplay looks really fun but I'm worried it might get repetitive if theres only one villain gameplay mode.
to be honest if they just gave the first fable co-op now i think it would make more money then this :P
besides their are lots of games with the exact concept.
So I don't get to do evil shit as a hero? What the fuck? This is one of the definitive features of Fable.

I'm not going to bash on this but I can't really see that Legends is going to be THE Fable game that everyone will say "This is the best one yet".

Don't know why people are so quick to dismiss it. Looks pretty good imo. The only thing I don't think i'll be keen on is the villian mode. Apart from that looks solid and i'm willing to give it a go.
This looks interesting. I'll give it a try, but they still need to get back to the core series.
Lionhead seriously needs to stop trying to be cute, and make a full-fledged sequel to Fable II. I really enjoyed FII. I played through it like 3 or 4 times.
Why can't this be multi-platform....
And why was this awesome ass game shut down
