@@zachsteele6964 If you're talking about the homeless population and vagrants, then I have to agree. If you're talking about California in general, then that's just your opinion and you're entitled to it. But I love California and wouldn't want to be anywhere else and I've lived in Atlanta, Washington DC, Richmond VA, Chicago, Michigan, NYC and California.
Regina is Awesome!! She's a keeper! I love her attitude. She's wanting to go to more places now with those tires and wheels....that spells LIFT KIT! I could see a little smile on your face Brad when she said that. Very well done. Brad, you know the true meaning of "If Momma ain't happy the house ain't happy". You honestly wanted her honest opinion and respected what ever she said. That Jeep looks so much better now and so much more capable. Nice work!
She was a “trooper” in this video you could tell she she wants to be outdoors. That was a beautiful spot I’m going to forward that spot to my daughter who is just getting into the camping thing. Great video Brad.
Love 2 door content, though with the larger tires you might consider giving her some of the pep back by changing ring and pinion to 4.56 and a big brake kit
JLs don't really need bigger brakes unless you are going above 35s on a Sport. the Rubicon and Sahara have very large brakes that work very well up to 37s/38s.
Have you added anything like the Tazer JL to set the shift points? It makes it night and day when upgrading to bigger tires to get the pep and proper shifting back.
With Valentines Day approaching, it would be great to see Regina (Mrs TrailRecon) take over the channel and do a video on how to love your Jeeper. Your love for each other shows every time you mention or feature her. A Navy life isn’t easy, and you all are a great family. Hope you’re enjoying an amazing retirement adventure together.
This is absolute gold. My wife is supportive of my modifications to my GX, and she appreciates both the functional and aesthetic improvements, but I can 100% hear my wife's voice saying the same thing: "It looks great. I'm mean, they're tires, right? They're bigger." "The tread's more aggressive." "Yeah, sure."
Was a surprisingly educational video. As an owner of a stock 4x4 pick-up truck getting drawn to overlanding I enjoyed seeing a trail I could manage. Your wife provided excellent information on the cost of modifying your vehicle for off-roading. It could be upgrading or downgrading depending on how you look at it.
Thank you for showing her build! I have a 2011 2 door JK and it is so hard to find content for inspiration. Ever since 2007 it seems the 2 door was forgotten. When you find 2 door content its usually a TJ or older build that can barely be called a jeep anymore lol. They have all transcended to something that no longer knows roads.
As a lady offroader I gotta say I LOVE your conversations with her! There's no "talking down" like you see occasionally and she's building her own Jeep, you're not building it for her ❤️ LOVE!
My wife drives a fairly massive '91 square body Suburban lifted 6" with 37s while I drive my JK unlimited with 3" lift and 35s. Wheeling together is probably among my top 5 favorite things to do.
Thanks to your videos, I will be hitting this trail soon and taking my Rubicon on its maiden off-road voyage, I have the route mapped on the Gaia app(along w Burns canyon and Rattlesnake canyon), and I have your video recording tips...I called the SBNF headquarters and asked them a bunch of questions(dos, don’t, safety, permits, reqs, etc.), so I’m ready to go. I’m a new jeeper(6months) and thanks to you I have an idea of how to go about it. Thanks so much!!
Big Fan here...great video! I love the 2 door Rubies. I currently own a 2019 Tacoma with the Predator package, A 2005 Chevy 2500 4x4, a 1996 Nissan 4x4 Hardbody I bought new...and a KLX 250S that takes me from pavement to pasture in 1 second. I really enjoy your content and look forward to the adventures. Thanks for the inspiration and I truly love your channel!!!!!! Here's to mud on the tires and sitting around the fires...Thanks again!!!!!
LOL! My wife is the exact same way when it comes to car stuff like tires! Before she got her Jeep I put an aggressive-ish SUV all terrain on her RAV4 and she didn't even notice the difference.
A good day at work then come home to a TrailRecon video 😀👍🏻😀👍🏻I have milestar Patagonias on my truck luv them. Now after seeing this video I think I'm going with a 2 door jeep instead of 4👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
THAT LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF FUN ! THE JEEP LOOKED VERY NICE NOT OVER DONE ! GORGEOUS COLORS SCENERY VIEWS VIDEO ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ALWAYS! ENJOYED !
Like her honesty about the tire difference, I recently switched from 265s KO2 to 285s wildpeak at3w and they noticeably louder and definitely makes a huge difference in braking.
I completely understand about just a nice relaxing trail with the wife Brad. I love the drives with my wife and just being together, sometimes even more so just being the two of us vs. when we are at a rally or gathering with many people on the trails with us.
New tires. How nice. I have a two door and sometimes post videos when I buy stuff for him. I got a new bumper for Christmas I just got installed so hopefully I'll have a video on that soon. That's a nice looking trail. Very pretty views for sure.
I’m getting my Unlimited Rubicon in May and I’m so glad I live in SoCal because your videos give me a lot of info on the trails in our state. Man, you really should do a workshop for off-roaders. I would definitely attend! Keep the great videos coming, I learn so much from them!
Nice to hear your wife's opinions on the tires, Brad. It'll be really interesting to hear how she likes them after they've got several thousand miles on them and start getting louder than they are. Nice to meet you Regina. :-)
I just installed a set of Patagonia 285/70/17s on our JLU and I absolutely love them. They look great and they do not seem to be loud what so ever. Heck I hear the wind noise from the freedom tops more then the tire noise 😂
Thank you Brad. Looks great!!!I Really like when you say the name or location of the trail ,that way I can have a better idea of what the trail looks like. Love the family !!! love the channel !!!
I totally agree with Regina. The Patagonia not a quiet tire. I came off of Wildpeak AT3Ws and KO2s and the Pats are definitely louder. They are not annoying but louder than many reviewers would lead you to believe. I'm in a GMC Canyon which is pretty well insulated from regular road noise so tire noise may be more noticeable than in a Jeep. :)
Brad and Regina, great vid and lovely scenery. Jealous of you guys in the states with great trails, not got that much choice over here in old Blighty (England) Your music choice is perfect, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles perfect for chilling out trailing #Chilltrail
For as much time as your wife spends on asphalt, she might be happier with something like the Falken Wildpeak AT3-W. They are pretty quiet, great in the rain, and very capable off road. Not as good in mud as a full mud tire but more so than many other AT's. I have been very pleased with mine on a 4Runner and will probably buy them again.
The sun and the beautiful trails make me miss summer. We are stuck with beautiful rainy views in Washington state I mean rainy lol great video. 0IIIIIII0
Love the 2 door one nice looking Jeep awesome job brad /Regina,some body rubberized undercoating works really good on tire noise etc have it under my truck works real good on tire noise etc just a thought great video/review as always be safe

I need to move to CA. So many great trails. I recommend the teraflex big brake kit to improve braking. Worked great for my 2 door JK Rubicon with 2.5" lift and 35s.
Loved this video. It's awesome getting her perspective on the larger tires. I watch your videos a lot and love seeing how hardcore your rigs are. But I recently bought a JK, so im a greenie and getting her opinions was very helpful! And I love that she seems most excited about the little yellow Jeep decal. 😂
I know it is a pain ,changing tires , but you could always take old wheels to run put them back on if she drives more on the road , I know buying stock size tires might be cheaper for her if doing more every day driving. love videos , keep up the good work.
Thanks for another great update on Regina's yellow jeep, and I'm always very interested in hearing what she really thinks about all these "improvements". Look forward to hearing her input when it's all done- if it was worth the $, or if in the end she wished she kept it stock. cheers

love this! i’m hoping to go there this Friday! might be a dumb question, but do you have to air down for this trail? or can I remain at 30psi? 🙏🏽 thanks Brad
I'm doing a four and a half inch BDS suspension lift kit with new tires next week on my 97 Cherokee 4x4. Well, I don't have the tools or the knowledge to do it. Another great video Brad....maybe do a gear upgrade to go with the lift. It would give her the acceleration back . 4.56 or 4.88 would work with 35's.
