At noon yesterday firemen from different municipalities conducted a controlled burn in Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. Drills were performed during which smoke could be seen pouring out of the second story windows of a historical house at 2907 rang de la Savane. Fire fighters used the opportunity of the house given in donation to conduct exercises before letting it burn to the ground safely. The road was partially shut to let the crews in training park their vehicles. Among others, fire fighters from Richelieu, St-Mathias, Rougemont et Marieville took part in this day of practice.

Why would you burn a really beautiful house thats nuts
If it is historic, why burn it?
Back before I retired from my department, we used to do controlled burns. It was a cheaper way to dispose of the structure for the purpose of New construction, or it was a safety hazard to the community. We also used to Train in the structure as opposed to using our Training center 100% of the time. the reason being so we don't get used to the same situation or layout because every structure is different. This is good practice for Probe's especially. The criteria was Everything that was Bad had to be removed per EPA regulations. Shingles, Asbestos, etc.
That siding didn't want to burn or melt. Tough stuff
visiblement la cheminée est de qualité

Meanwhile a modern house of this size collapses within 8 minutes flat.
id like 2 see one video like this where the person stand in one place and show the house burn instead of wondering around showing useless stuff
That's one way to get rid of an old house.
Apparently this was filmed in canada
SO TELL ME WHY, PLEASE?!
That house looks like it was very well looked after & loved,& not so long ago by the looks of it...shame!!
This is very foolish when there's a tree near by and another smoke pollution for our earth. This house could have been used for a family who were desperate for somewhere to live.
ALL UNDER CONTROLL . .
Schade um das Haus. Es sah wirklich wie ein Heim aus.
I am curious as to why this house was used for a "controlled burn" practice session for the fire crews to learn from? It seemed like too good a house to throw away like this --seems to me it could have been sold to a family who could have fixed it up and lived in it. Why was it disposed of as a fire-training exercise?
Due to its age, there are potential asbestos and led paint. Even used in all countries, led in the paint asbestos in ceiling tile and in roofing. It costs a lot more to safely remove it than it does, just to burn it. You can also be dealing with mold issues that can render a home unfit to live in. And for training, floor plans differ for each home built no matter where one lives. It's a good standard of teaching new members or volunteers to the firebrigade.
This is some excellent video. It looks like a movie studio shot this. Great job getting those shots
I found the camera movement annoying!
look at all that smoke! man, who set off the smoke bombs? Whoever built that house didn't want it to burn down easily! the whole inside burned before the roof even collasped.... WOW! and the stone walls are still standing!
Fascinating

interesting to see that tall
skinny brick chimney stay
standing thru out the entire fire
did you video tape it when
it fell down
Nope, was surprised too
What in the world is the firefighter doing in the front of the house? He is swaying the water around.what does he think the water mist will put out the fire??
Watering down the trees
gano el fuego
English please
the fact that the chimney was build better than the intire house
That so sad to see this home a family home I seen kids playing on there playground and snow in there swimming pool so sad they won't be able sleep there anymore or play or swimming in the summer
I was surprised how long the roof lasted, considering the inferno inside.
The tin roof keeps the heat in longer
Beau feu sahhhh 🔥
