The Khmer Rouge Prison Caves are a curious and lesser-known attraction in Kampong Chhnang.
During the Khmer Rouge period, prisoners were forced to hand-cut these caves into solid rock. Reportedly the tunnel opens out into a complex of rooms that were possibly used as prison cells. Nowadays, the tunnels are often filled with water and inaccessible, so there is not much to see. However, they still make an interesting historical stop.
