A truly fantastic video. Thank you very, very much!!! My wife and I are strongly considering moving to Europe for retirement and Greece is on our list of potential retirement destinations along with France, Spain and Italy. We were in Athens twice about six weeks ago but only changing planes roundtrip between Paris and Corfu via Aegean Airlines... We're coming back in 2025 and your video really motivated us about Athens.
I’m new to your show, Tiffany. I certainly enjoy the details in your video. I’m still planning a short stay in Athens after cruising from Italy and the Islands.
Well I'm booked at a hotel Monasteryaki. Yes the street view looks like it can be crowded. Getting there will be interesting. I'll have to find your other videos talking about getting from the port to our hotel and from the hotel to the airport @agirlandherpasport
We stayed at the Greece U Around hotel, close to the observatory. it was extremely good value and a 10-15 minute walk from monastiraki and the acropolis. We spent €223 for four nights in march and our room included a proper kitchen and access to free self-service laundry onsite. Highly recommended
Hi, I'm hoping to come to Athens and the Cyclades next month. I've watched several of your videos and really appreciate the information. Your videos are great. 👍🏻🙂
I stayed at Epidavros hotel in Omonia square. It was great.I was around the corner from the fountain and all the coffee shops.Walking distance from monastiraki and plaka.Gazi is also within walking distance with more bars and restaurants.
It is still not an area I would recommend to people for a trip here or Gazi. It is fine but also as a rough feel. It can also be very loud at night in Gazi with the clubs.
@A Girl and Her Passport its not in the neighbourhood of gazi..its about a 20 minute walk..only the coffee shops and eateries are around the corner.Monastiraki is about 20 minute walk as well in the other direction down Athena avenue..Yes the area looks a bit dodgy but not dangerous..The hotel was very nice though.
Your video popped up first when I opened YT! Finally. Lol I was having to search for them for awhile before. I rented a really nice Airbnb apartment across from the Acropolis museum for nine days for this August. It’ll be hot but I’ll survive!
Yay! Make sure you have the notifications turned on that way you will get a little red dot when a new one comes out. Oh that will be great! Sometimes its not so bad in Athens in August. But I also love the heat. LOL!
@@agirlandherpassport btw, I initially had booked a place in Monastiraki, but I cancelled that and booked this new apartment. I just felt safer for walking at night.

Great tips Tiffany! Thanks for another informative video. I was wondering if there are any local or artisanal goods that are worth picking up in Athens or Greece in general?
You're welcome! Much of it food things that I would recommend so I guess it depends on what country you are returning to and if that is allowed. There are some kitchen items in some places made of olive wood that would be cool. If you are on an island that produces ceramics, that could be nice but either need to be shipped or packed carefully! And lots of people buy handmade Greek sandals!
@@agirlandherpassport thank you so much! Great suggestions. I’m very intrigued by the olive wood items because we don’t see too much of those in Canada.
Thanks so much for your enlightening video. I am planning a short trip to greece , 6 days . Only plan to visit Athens and Santorini. I plan to go to Budapest after Santorini. Do you think its better to go to budapest from Santori or from Athens. Much appreciate your advice . Thank you.

Thanks for the video. I have a bunch of Marriott points that would make for a nice week stay in Moxy Athens on Omonia Square. All the reviews on all the different travel sites say it is great. Is Omonia Square that scawry? 🥺. Thanks
It depends on if you are a city person or not. If you are from a big city, then you might consider it just fine. If not you might be uncomfortable especially at night. There are several Marriott brand hotels in Athens so definitely look around.
@@agirlandherpassport Indeed! However there are some comfy apartments thru Booking to be had in the Koukaki area for those who do not like crowds. Seems a cozy apartment can be had for less than a hotel in some cases. Much work to be done before September. If planning is this much fun the actual trip will be a blast!! Thanks for all your hard work and videos they have been very helpful.
Hello Tiffany- Can you recommend a tour agency for trips to Metora by car or minivans. We do not want to rent a car or take the train🥶We Are traveling to Greece on September . Thank you
Visited someone at a hotel in Omonia once. Definitely sketchy, but, frankly, is DisneyWorld compared to where I grew up (DC). I was warned by a few Greeks about there being "lots of immigrants" there. Yeah, I saw plenty of folks there who did not look Greek (LOL), but, again, it was pretty uneventful.

I’m so happy to hear that! You’re welcome.
I will be there in October with my 21 year old son. I went to Crete last year, and this year Im hitting the main land. Im so excited!

@@agirlandherpassport We went in mid march which was great for us as the sites were empty and the temperature was nice around 17c most days.
Ok that explains the price. I don’t think it would be that low in summer. Good reason to come in the off season!
We stayed in Plaka and it was so great! Easy walking area, view of the Acropolis from our hotel, Palladium Hotel. Fantastic stay, but no elevator
Well at least you got a leg workout. Glad you enjoyed it.
