Yeah, the place is hardcore, that’s for sure!! I grew up there but I could NEVER EVER live there again...NEVER!!! It is Sad.... just extreme poverty and Sadness
thanks for the comment, David. I am sure it would be a very difficult place to actually live. It was a heart wrenching place to visit. It has been a number of years since my last visit there, but I am certain that very little change has occurred. Sad.

McDowell County isn’t getting better. It’s getting worse. The only reason the poverty rate dropped is because more people have moved away or died.
