I followed this video not knowing what to expect because I never used silencers or made them before. I tried it out today and it worked out very good! Going to do this with my other bows too. I have lots of spare paracord I use for camping so it was quick and easy, thanks!
I've made out of yarn and paracord, but not with great results regarding silencing the string. The next paracord set which I make will be without removing the center strands, to provide a little more bulk and increased resistance. The paracord can be frayed easier by inserting a nail to separate the individual strands. Also in the past I did not open the string but attached silencers with small plastic ties over the string, which allows you to move the silencers up and down to achieve the best effect
Super dooper bow silencer fluffies. When truly and totally fluffed down to each individual para-thread, it is a super fluffy fiber cotton. Having the same fluffy 2-3 inches down from the bow string in contact with the recurve snap pad will also soften and silence the bow tip area even further. LUVVING IT! Pffffffft.
I'm not a huge fan of string silencers on a compound, but for a recurve, I can see this working great (which is what you're intending it for). Cool idea! Just be careful of shooting it in the rain cause paracord can get heavy when wet.
I agree that on a compound they aren't worth much, but they do a lot for a recurve, once it's properly tuned. After shooting my recurves, I doubt I'll ever pick up my compound again. Night and day difference.
I think they both have their place, but I enjoy shooting my recurve so much more...not sure why, I just do! I wont get rid of my Compound, but it probably wont see much more use
great idea I never heard of using paracord but every bowhunter should have paracord. another thing, I read in the comments someone said that when they unstrung the bow sometimes the string silencer would come out and that is true. so one I timeline on I take dental floss or string serving the real thin kind and I crossed tired before I shoot the bow and hold them in place
Thank you for sharing awesome video! I wanted to ask since I cannot see how did you put the pieces of the Paracord on the string did you put one on top of each other overlapping or just the six individuals paracord strands on top of each other not overlapping and did you make tie them on to the bowstring? Thank you
Dude. I just got the same exact bow off Craigslist. The string was all jacked up so I just ordered 2 Dacron replacements. I noticed you had the Flemish. Have you ever used the Dacron? If so what's the difference in your opinion? What brace height works best for you? What size arrows do you use? Thanks. ( I'm a newbie) Sorry for all the questions
I hunted with compound last year and the sights were a pain. Taking the time to line them up caused me to miss an opportunity for a shot. I was so upset I went and got a recurve so I never had to mess with them again. I want to be able to make a shot without lining anything up. Just shoot instinctive. I'm happy I did...I really love my recurves now.
RevHiker Thanks for explaining that. Back in the day when I target shot, the compound was thought of as easier due to being able to hold it longer during aiming. Never having hunted with one, I didn't realize its drawbacks in relation to taking a quick shot.
+Lellobeetle Compounds are easier to shoot accurately, but lining up a quick shot is not one of their strengths. You have to clip on your release, draw, anchor, line up, and make sure you are not canted at all, or your shot is off. With my recurve, I see, I draw and release in one fluid motion. Takes about 1/5 the time of a compound. At least for me.
Having the guts in the paracord would make the cord fat and would not twist into the string as well as it would without the guts. I totally see the sense of that.
proper brace height helps with that a lot, but I have used the soft side of velcro, and more recently, wool held on by Ranger bands. I'm making a video on it soon actually
Where exactly did you put the paracord on the string? I have the same bow and I agree I love shooting this bow too I've killed a few rabbits and hit a few fish
how has your longevity been? i did this to a 40 lb recurve the top looks great and has stayed together the bottom has slowly thinned out. a couple strands at a time got "whispy" then fell out. i did use 4 different colors of different supplier paracord, i also noticed that one color was very slow to fray out. I am going to try again......deer need shootin'
I will be hunting when the season starts in a month. but I have been shooting nearly every day since the beginning of summer to be ready. I really enjoy target shooting and hunting. I am going to try to film a hunt this year... we will see how that goes lol
I tried this ... first of all ... it takes a hell lot of time and patience undoing those strands of paracords .... complete waste of time. secondly, the string that i'm using is the single color string so after i sort of put all those pieces of paracord in the middle, it just wont stay there the moment unstring the bow. such a pain in the ass !

SurvivalABC's nice!

Good job I’ve been looking for alternative for some time they’ve started price gouging for things that shouldn’t sale for a dollar
Thanks , followed directions and works perfect👍

RevHiker It is a night and day difference. I love them both for very different reasons. Thanks!

yep...a little serving will hold it all together
Nice, I like it. Water resistant too for those rainy days

Works great, thanks for the tip.
I will do exactly the same for muy bow! Thanks for sharing mate!
Nice I am going to make some out of my Camo Paracord
cool!
That's a cool idea. Did you post pictures of this anywhere? I'm interested to see how that turned out.
Excellent video and a great tip. Thank you 👍🏻
Awesome… you scientists!
Great video man, what material
Do you use for your arrow shelf?
I did this, it didn’t help quiet the string or deaden the vibration at all and after a few shots big chunks of threads started flying out

props for going recurve and not compound.

That worked great.Thank you
I have a questipn not that their is anything wrong with it but why did you get rid of the guts you could of use those as the string silencers instead?
+Brian Anuvattanachai I didnt want the white guts because I hunt with this bow. White shows up brightly to a deer.
Having the guts in the paracord would make the cord fat and would not twist into the string as well as it would without the guts. I totally see the sense of that.
tip.
Use a comb to fluff up the paracord. Really quick.
chris crashtest povey good call!
Would this work for a compound bow and if so how many pieces of cord should I use
Great idea, thanks
Hi there, what sort of straps did you put on the limbs to prevent string slap?. Thanks
proper brace height helps with that a lot, but I have used the soft side of velcro, and more recently, wool held on by Ranger bands. I'm making a video on it soon actually
Good video
Where exactly did you put the paracord on the string? I have the same bow and I agree I love shooting this bow too I've killed a few rabbits and hit a few fish
+Alek Vallejos I put it about 8-10 inches in form where the string contacts the limb
Awesome thanks

David Castle I haven't had any fall out yet...going on a couple years and a lot of shooting
Otimo video. Pode ser feito para compoud bow? Obrigado.
Yeah parachord is what i use.
Are you target shooting or hunting?
I will be hunting when the season starts in a month. but I have been shooting nearly every day since the beginning of summer to be ready. I really enjoy target shooting and hunting. I am going to try to film a hunt this year... we will see how that goes lol
“Evaporate and turn into nothing”, ohhh that’s where they go

you can save a lot of time by using a comb or stiff brush to unravel the paracord.
