It was surely a part of it, but sorry... The biggest problem was that she knew that he will leave her anyway. She told him later on that she hoped that he wouldn't leave her in Paris. She tested him and he ran to Hope without turning back. He behaved completely differently after Hope lost her baby and asked him to be with Steffy. He was waiting for months instead of committing to Steffy ;)
