Looking forward to part 3, keep ‘em coming!
Thanks!
Actually, the Abe Live Glue comp DOES has a low-pass filter right there in the filtering section (on the lower-right of the 6 options). 💡
Nice tuts, btw.

These are by far the best production videos on YT. Thanks so much.
Thanks dude!
ok first off Thank you for doing everything you do. This is by far the best video I've seen so far for getting started with the master process. Following these 3 series I've mastered 7 tracks in the past few days. Thanks Fabio. Can't say this enough.
You’re most welcome Amir 🙏🏼
Wow just wow. That’s why I always feeling emptiness in my tracks this really make it full Love u man. Thanks
Thanks bud! Glad it was helpful
Yo hold up the glue compressor definitely does have a high pass filter. I can see it right in the graphic you showed when you said that
You're totally right man - I totally forgot about the drop out menu
@@NoizeLondon If you wouldve known that prior to making this video, would you be pullin that up around 90hz or somewhere above of your kick?
I think that’s just for the sidechain, isn’t it?
@@jefgirdler7232 It is indeed just for the sidechain.
@@Lokua I just tested and it is for the compressor input - raising the high pass filter while playing a sub tone stopped all gain reduction
I love pushing my sub through the glue compressor with the makeup gain all the way up, Soft Clipping enabled, and adjusting the Wet/Dry to add that nice top grit on my sub.
That's a great idea - I gotta try that out :)
I would love to see a mini-series on gain staging/mixing to get to this point. really enjoy all your videos, they have been super beneficial to my growth as a producer.
2n d this - it would be great to see a mixing tutorial to make tracks sound more professional
Excellent video dude! The mastering stage can be a bit of playing the lottery for me sometimes.. this compressor explanation was really useful!
Glad I could help thanks for watching man :)
great tutorial best ive seen on this subject by far
Hell yeah, this was so fun to watch
Thanks bud !
Tnks fabio you really help me out......👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You're welcome Igal :)
not gonna lie, when you told what is going to do the glue and utility and you turned on and off my ears got goosebumps, like, wow
Great video again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks buddy!
Man great video, thank you :)
There is a hp filter on glue compressor ! it is on the sidechain window.
😎😎👍👍👍👍👍 nice Fabio 2nd part to mastering 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 great
Thanks Daren :)
Klanghelm IVGI is definitely my favorite free saturation plug-in! Worth checking out!
Sixth Floor Memories so true! Did a demo in it and people loved it!
Yeah I think I have that one - should blow off the dust and give it another shot ;)
The glue compressor does have a hi pass filter doesn't it? Under the eq section next to the sidechain section?
You're totally right man - I totally forgot about the drop out menu!
Thanks for these videos man,
You should probably do a vocal recording series
I already have buddy - check out my video called mixing your vocals ;)
@@NoizeLondon
Ahh alright, thanks man.
I also wanted to find out if you accept submissions cause I'd really like some advice
@@cedric6907 I do through my website ;) www.noizemusic.io
I think I preferred it before the compression and saturation. When you were A/B-ing at the end I felt I huge sense relief and openness when you turned the group off.
Really? I heard a lot more low end when they were on
@@nicholascowan1731 I'm not saying it objectively sounded better with it off. I just preferred it. But if you're specifically talking about the low end, then objectively speaking, there was definitely more low end before the compression.
With the compression and saturation I'm trying to bring the sustain of the track up. I agree that without it sounds more 'open' but remember this is not a professional master but just something to help you go and try out your record on different systems so that you can make any mix changes you see fit before sending out for professional mastering. :)
@@NoizeLondon I'm sure you have a couple more db of headroom as well, which means you'll able to push it louder into the limiter. I guess that's why keeping that 'open' sound while still getting it super loud in mastering is such an art.
@@TjMoon91 For sure man - that's essentially what I aim for when doing professional masters but I don't want anyone to get too bogged down in trying to perfect their master here, just create a good demo one ;)
Nice. Hopefully I'll have time to try out parts 1 and 2 before submitting a track for mix and master. Need that limiter tip! Thanks Fabio. 🔥
Great way for you to be able to jam out in the car prior to sending over :)
That's what I normally do. If it doesn't sound good in the car then I know I've still got work to do. 👍
Amazing tutorial Bro!
Thanks buddy!!
would love to see a mini series on your approach to remixing a song. How does your approach differ if you have no stems for the track, etc
As in just stems for the vocal? Or remixing a track that's in its final state? Because to be honest unless I had the vocal or at least one stem I wouldn't remix it at all!
Hey, great video!
What about a video on Multiband Compression? That would be awesome. Cheers
Maybe a little broad - multiband compression on what?
can you make another part using the multiband compression and how to open the stereo wide in mastering please! 🙏🙏 thank for your tutorials!
Highly informative as ever Fabio. You asked if there were any other topics we would like covered. There is something that has eluded me for years, that is. When you go to a midi website that allows you to download say 5 seconds of a famous song (for example.) How do you take that 5 seconds and do something magical with it to turn it into an entire track?
Thanks buddy - Do you mean a sample website rather than MIDI? Can you share some examples please?
@@NoizeLondon Here is a classic example. I love the track Loneliness by Tomcraft that came out several years ago. bitmidi.com/tomcraft-loneliness-mid that gives 30 seconds of midi notes from the song. What i would like to be able to do is turn that 30 seconds into something close to the original track. The more I sit here thinking about it though, the more I think the song itself isn't a loop of that 30 seconds... let me try from a different angle. How hard is it make an instrumental from an actual track? Those widi and midi convertors never seem to work for me.
Cool video and good explanation of what the different compressor settings do. 👍
But I did find it kind of odd that the threshold setting you used in your example was not even doing much, the compression needle/meter wasn’t even moving or barely even moving, so basically the main thing the glue compressor was doing to your song was applying the soft clip because I did actually see that light blinking. Lol
Sometimes u only need a little! Less is more :)
Thnks
great guy
So you are doing most of this on your NS-10s and switching to the larger monitors when eq’ing bass?
Yessir :)
Great videos!
I am wondering is better to use to return channels for say adding reverb or is better to add it on the actual track you are wanting to add the reverb? :)
Depends if you're going to be adding the same reverb to lots of channels then yes thats ok.
Can you add a part 4 for mastering for mp3 (such as for Soundcloud)? All the techniques I've seen tell you to have 1.5db of headroom but I've seen tracks that have not done that and still preserved high frequencies through the compression algorithm of mp3, so I'm wondering how they do it.
1db should be plenty - one master for all rather than individual masters for individual platforms
Thank you to everyone in the comments for pointing out that there is in fact a high pass filter on the 'drop-out' menu. I completely overlooked that section!
If you are High Passing I would try these 3 EQ freq points:
-40Hz
-70Hz
-120Hz
Right, so why is everyone saying that there is a high pass on the glue compressor?
From the manual: On the right of the external section are the controls for the sidechain EQ. Enabling this section causes the Glue Compressor to be triggered by a specific band of frequencies, instead of a complete signal. These can either be frequencies in the compressed signal or, by using the EQ in conjunction with an external sidechain, frequencies in another track’s audio.
@@evighvitveis so you would sidechain the track into its own compressor yes?
@@NoizeLondon not if you enable only the EQ part, and leave the sidechain turned off.
Do a miniseries for mixing
What’s the magic word bro
Do you still have the cheat sheet somewhere? That link is broken
I need a bigger screen... This one is so small, that it does not show the links above!
SOrry bro its because I forgot to add them - they're there now :)

Do you do private classes ?
Yes please head to my website www.noizemusic.io
What ergonomic wrist rest are you using with the Ableton Push? I"m running into severe "repetitive stress disorders" including Carpal tunnel and need to get one like that, ASAP. Thanks for responding.
the rest I'm using is actually just a foam monitor decoupler from gear4music - hope it helps!
@@NoizeLondon It does, thank you. Whatever works, eh? :)
i don’t get difference especially compression 😭
Very subtle - feels a little brighter and tighter
Of course no one dislike it's undislikable i mea'n i'm a frog
lolol
But you didn’t label this one Pt. 2 very disconcerting. I’m concerned. But keep up the good work.
happy ? ;)
I feel like you should re do the whole video and actually use the high pass to do what you want to do
To be honest I’m happy with the way it turned out regardless of using the HPF which wouldn’t have made a huge difference. Might’ve had to add another compressor to control the lows if I did so it’s great that we can keep it simple ;)
i didnt hear any difference. LOL. Only the the pumping compression at the start.
The saturation tho? You need to listen to the transients of the drums. Here I could hear the drums got a little more flat
@@R3BBiT saturation always. I love coloring the sounds.
Dude there is so much more warmth in the low end with the saturaste
