The Great One

The Hunter: Call of the Wild is an awesome game. There is no shortage of animals and lots of parks to hunt. One of my favorites by far is Revontuli. Silver Ridge being a close second. Like most Americans, my prey of choice has always been whitetail. While I enjoy hunting all of the animals, whitetails are special. Brings back memories of hunting in my youth.
This hunt for the great one has taken me 4 years to complete. Some days I might've killed 200+ over a few rotations. Others may have only been a few dozen. After every respawn, I hoped this is the one. After countless disappointments. Finally, just to see one of these on my map was awesome. My heart was pounding out of my chest as I crept closer trying to line up a foolproof shot. I was so afraid I would blow this chance. After so long.
As I crawled into shooting position, a strange calm washed over. To see this moment, to finally be in front of me. I wanted to savor it. Take my time and consider the thousands of others it took to get here. It was breathtaking.
I am so grateful it took as long as it did. Probably would have quit playing long ago if I got one earlier. I never remember seeing a great one, although the game says I harvested one before. I think it may have been a Red Deer. I had a Legendary Stag move, just as I fired and caused me to miss vitals. Maybe that was it? Either way, mission, finally, accomplished.

Yikes! I'm sure it'll happen soon. One thing I did was to recon all the lakes again. It had been over a year since I last did a full audit on all the lakes. I found 1 new zone and a half dozen stragglers mixed in herds I already reduced. Once I cleared those out, I had a huge diamond and 3 rares pop up. After taking those, that's when he appeared.
I recommend just changing things up every now and then. Flip your rotation cycles. Move your shooting herds to another lake. Anything can trigger it.
