OMG I loved this game...I was living in Los Angeles working as an actor...the friend I shared a house with had all of these old Hollywood actors stars pics on his long halldway walls...long hardwood floors...such amazing memories...I was working as Rhys Ifans stand in on the movie HUMAN NATURE...there was this sweet make up lady...she had the book...I had No idea who this "HARRY POTTER" was...LOL I was at a dinner one night and everyone was talking about Harry Potter....that week on the set we were shooting up in the alta dena mountains...much like the forbidden forest. The sweet make up lady finished her copy of the sorcerer and loaned it to me...as a stand in you have a lot of down time. I'd take the book and a HUGE blanket and sit in the nook of a tree not far from set. I got so into the book, that when they called my name for the set i'd get mad LOLOL blah blah blah...I was sick for a week and was playing this game back at my house...my room mate was off work and would come lay on the bed and watch me...we loved the background sounds...he got so addicted to watching me...he didn't want to play, he liked watching me...we were so sad when the game ended that we started over LOL :) ahhh the golden days :)

You know whats crazy about this game, if you look on eBay people are trying to sell this ga,e for pretty high price, people are trying to sell it for 30-60$ and that's a lot for a game that's just Harry Potter, so this game maybe RARE
yeah I was surprised too! so I went to amazon and apparently its selling at amazon for $97.99 for new and $69.99 for used. its getting very rare apparently. all this from recently starting a gamefly account realizing the game is still not available to rent.
It was actually common for licensed games to have different versions back then. This game also had a ps1 version which was different and so did the second game.
Berkay Demirci it was a game designed around mouse and keyboard and the transition to console would have been awkward. The PS2 was also not all that great with the Unreal Engine. A ground-up conversion could definitely have been done, but since EA already had Chamber of Secrets out on the PS2 from the previous year, it was ultimately smarter to just reuse the same game engine.
I remember abusing the Prefects in this game making sure I was only captured when I didn't want to run back to the common room for the 300 time and making sure it was the Gryffindor prefects so I didn't lose House points. ABUSE THE SYSTEM KIDDIES!~
I never had this version. I had the original playstation game--very blocky and pixelated. So I like this PS2 version a lot, though like others have said, saying the bean names out loud is rather annoying!

The sneak aspect of the game was reduced substantially where virtually every spell doesn't count (excepting Flipendo) and where the patrol paths make it impossible to congregate all prefects in one room. Running through them all is better, especially as they stop to cast their leg locker spell. So yeah, sneaking in this game is rather pointless, better to just run through.
i notice in the games both pc and ps2 they never mention the dursleys reluctance to let harry go, he's just there. scene skipped. idk if like that or not........i mean i guess it's good to get right into the story tho
So... I played the GBA and the PS1 versions of this game, and I'm considering streaming the PS2 version. Does this resemble...any? Like, does it have collectibles and secret passages like PS1? Or puzzles like PC? Or is it a complete overhaul? I'm skimming through the video to get an idea, and I do see it's different, but the details elude me xD

Even if one does live in the U.S.A. I think it is either because in the U.S. they don't use the term Philosopher, or because children prefer to see Sorcerer, rather than Philosopher, which all has to do with marketing.
I really wish these games were remade for the PS4, XBOX ONE, and Nintendo Switch but knowing how greedy EA is with the microtransactions we might not get it unless EA felt it's a good idea to add extra content we have to pay extra to enjoy. Extra: I'm not mentioning PC because you guys already have the current games you can access easily
Stanley54 unfortunately for the harry potter series it happened. the only case i know of. pc titles were shorter, slower and downgraded than the console versions.

Hes right, ps2 version was released in 2003 year after chamber of secrects. But the PC and PS1 versions came out in 2001.

It's called Philosophers Stone everywhere else, USA just decided to call it the Sorcerer's Stone, but it's the exact same game.

100% cannot truly be obtained in this game because of glitches. I will get all the wizard cards and shields though.
