I love Giant Trap Door Spider! I got him in a pack back in Ice Age and have been trying him in decks ever since! Always gets Bolted, never sees his true potential, but it's just so unique and fun!
I have a Drakuseth Deck and it does run Geosurge for that very reason. You can even get it earlier if you had earlier ramp. A turn one Jeweled Amulet, with a turn 2 Pyretic Ritual into Geosurge. If you get Drakuseth Turn 2 and it sticks. It can deal with any Dorks or Hatebears all while putting a early clock on your opponents.
Love this series. I learn a lot about new to me cards and reminds me about some other cards I may have relegated to my jank boxes but fit really well in something new I'm working on.
“They actually build these trapdoors, pop out and grab stuff and go back in, it’s really funny”. The spooder scared people are going to disagree heavily lol
I’m going to make a King Kenny deck, which is bad because 5 color, but I’m going to go through all these videos and see what I can run. I’m going to try to use as few “good” cards as possible. Might even pass on Sol Ring.
I have several decks that are super tuned, but are not such high power because of the card choices I've made, and, honestly, they are my most fun decks without a doubt. My Grand Warlord Radha elfball deck doesn't run Sol ring, same as my Yuriko deck. Just gives you more space to put cool af cards you wouldn't normally run in most decks.
You could meta the good stuff cards, that's how I build decks. Which is also why I use zombies. They are recycling, counter them, destroy them, run from them, they come all the same.
I actually built a mono red super friend/Chandra tribal deck, and glacial cravasses was I card I never knew existed. Ty so much. I already know it's gonna save me so many times.
Geth's Grimoire is surprisingly useful. Any kind of looting effect, or discards for payments your opponents run give you advantage. I've been running it in my Izzet spellslinger deck just because it breaks parity fantastically in any kind of wheel effect. Flux, Windfall, Memory Jar, Reforge the Soul as well as old-school wheels etc become even more powerhouse if you've got some infinite hand size cards on the field.
My friend just made a Toralf deck using all snow mountains, Glacial Crevasses might be perfect! Gonna recommend him Gideon’s Avenger for his Tayam counters deck, too. A steady source of counters keeps that thing rolling.
With cards like Flectomancer its actually better than what he was saying. People will actively play around on board effects way more than hand instances. You may actually get two or three deflections before you have to sacrifice the Flecromancer because people dont want to lose their cards.
Generator’s servant is definitely a good but unseen card. I run it in my rakdos deck because it’s an alternate source of the colorless mana type, it can give rakdos haste when I pay for tax, and it can give me a hasty eldrazi, but it’s also a 2/1 that I can swing at the shields down opponent. I also have a dargo/reyhan deck and it can pay for another creature as well as dargo or essentially sac itself for 4 mana.
I use Goblin Flectomancer in Marchesa the Black Rose! It's great to protect Marchesa before she has counters on her / right after a creature has returned but doesn't have a counter on it!
9:05 Goblin Flectomancer is like a walking Izzet version of Imp's Mischief you just slam on the table and make your opponents afraid to target you with their cool stuff.
You can use Genju of the realm on opponents lands right? Then when there's a Wrath of God or something you make it into a creature? Plus the enchantment comes back to hand, such a good utility card. Also, does Generator Servant actually work with Ydris? He doesn't take colorless mana, so can you say "I'm alotting 0 of my generator servants mana to my Ydris, giving him haste?" What am I missing here?
I use a lot of these cards in some of my decks. I'm a huge fan of cards that do things that usually don't happen in their peticular color. Case and point: the card DARKNESS. A one mana drop black card that fogs. I run it in my Greven deck and no one ever sees it coming.
Yep Everytime I cast it at least one other player swears then grabs it from my hand to read it. Never have seen anyone react that way to a white or green fog.
My Felisa counters deck is mostly subthemed around flying vampires, but given how easily Gideon’s Avenger can accumulate counters, it might be really good in other Felisa decks!
We have a guy in our LGS that plays Prosper with Aether Grid. The synergy is deceptively strong and imo is one of those cards that while it's causing a lot of trouble, you're not sure if you want to waste a disenchant on it, for fear that something bigger might come next.
Been debating putting Glacial Crevasses in my Lord Windgrace deck. Only has a couple of snow mountains but can search them up and play them from the grave.
I use the Globlin Flectomancer in my Kenrith deck. It turns into basically a reusable redirect effect for {4}{B} (or {1} less with the ubiquitous Heartstone).
Funny, I cracked a Goblin Game yesterday from a Mystery Booster. Nevertheless it will go in my "un-Cube", together with most of the other Playtest cards from mystery booster
It would be. I could see a 5 color enchantress deck, a deck all about enchanting and untapping lands for huge amounts of mana, or even running creature land tribal.
Question about Goblin Flectomancer- what if they try to target it with like a Swords to Plowshares? Can you redirect it then? If so that card is amazing 👏
when you were talking about Ghirapur Aether Grid. dude........why did i not hear the golden ticket commander for this card... and im talking about Toggo You play lands you get a rock which is a artifact so you landfalls you make a artifact for it and the rocks can be still be thrown when they are tapped because it gives the creature the abililty not the rock itself as a matter of fact Josh lee Kwai deck from commander legends episode did this exact trick ua-cam.com/video/latDzZF5yFE/v-deo.html
I actually have a janky legacy deck that used Geosurge n Irenclad Feat to cast Drakuseth n other big beefy boys. If Fury had flash like some of the other incarnations in its cycle I probably could run this in modern where itd be slightly better but for now Pyrokinesis n Cave-In r pretty crucial to defend long enough to play a 7 drop. It's such a bad deck but I love it n some day it may have the tools it needs to be decent
I have a jegantha deck with a five color tribal theme, and genju of the realms is a real beater in that deck, and can even be a surprise blocker if your friends forget about it would recommend
"Sunstone" is a colorless version of Glacial Crevasses that can go into any deck with snow lands.
I love Giant Trap Door Spider! I got him in a pack back in Ice Age and have been trying him in decks ever since! Always gets Bolted, never sees his true potential, but it's just so unique and fun!
Shout out for the Glacial Crevasses mention. Very happy to see that make it to one of these videos. Such a unique ability for red to have access to

I have a 5 colour Kenny group hug deck and I never think about sol ring. Doesn’t feel necessary for Kenny at all IMO
I have several decks that are super tuned, but are not such high power because of the card choices I've made, and, honestly, they are my most fun decks without a doubt. Gigabrain
I have one 5 colour deck, and I don't run Sol Ring because I don't want it. Colour fixing is more important that ramping with that deck.
I actually built a mono red super friend/Chandra tribal deck, and glacial cravasses was I card I never knew existed. Ty so much. I already know it's gonna save me so many times.
One of my favorite cards in Alesha made it on this list! Generator Servant is so good not only with Alesha but with other creatures
This channel was mentioned in a r/EDH thread and I am so happy to have found it. Keep it up!

Genju sits in my Sisay Shrines deck. Instantly gives her +5/+5 and provides blocker while i get my shrines out for the group hug.
Hey, you seen the card Mischievous Poltergeist? Seems right up your alley.
With cards like Flectomancer its actually better than what he was saying. People will actively play around on board effects way more than hand instances. You may actually get two or three deflections before you have to sacrifice the Flecromancer because people dont want to lose their cards.
Demo I just got into commander last month but every single day I come to worship at your UA-cam altar
First video in awhile I've seen less than half the Janky cards appreciate ya ( :
So many great insights with these suggestions. Thanks!
Goblin Flectomancer seems good against a turns deck. Many of those cards say target player.
Ghirapur Aether Grid is absolutely fantastic in an artifact deck. Holy moly. I have never seen Goblin Flectomancer, and now I want it so bad.
I run geosurge in my Yidaro, Wandering Monster deck to instantly have enough for my commander. It helps a ton!
Wait how does a Yidaro deck work lol. How do you build around Yidaro omg. Do you cycle him?
@@StarlitWitchy I didn't build him to cycle but just as an 8/8 trample haste commander. I put things to give him double strike or to pump his atk up.
I like that you chose to make him thiCCer
I'd play Goblin Flectomancer for the art alone
I concur it's quite beautiful
Could we get an Anti-Treasure deck? Probably also be anti token at the same time I suppose, but I’m not sure what commander to use for it.
Maybe a Yasharn deck? Yasharn prevents ppl from sacrificing treasures and selesnya has tons of good artifact/enchantment removal as well!
@@Ghamul I like this. I wonder how I could run the deck, seeing as how it could end up with light stax.
Eye of Singularity is a good option!
@@zackkelley2940 March of the Machines works similarly
Eloise can combo off with March, so that's an idea
Genju of the Realm looks fun with Cascading Cataracts.
My Felisa counters deck is mostly subthemed around flying vampires, but given how easily Gideon’s Avenger can accumulate counters, it might be really good in other Felisa decks!
Flectomancer is very good, I run a similar effect (Spellskite) and it's so useful.

I feel like you might give grinning totem a look over for one of these videos. It's super sneaky deck tech. It's basically a colorless tutor :)
There's quite a few colorless tutors my favorite is citanel flute
@@kingfuzzy2I've gotten good use out of mine over the years. Flute is a solid card especially if you're playing Hatebears.
Right on ( :
Did you ever include AEther Snap in any of these lists?? With all the tokens in the current state of the game, this card is absolutely amazing.
i did:
@@edhdeckbuilding oh okay nice, I'll have to browse for that one.
Edit: Episode 18 👍🏻
I have used Geth's Grimoire in my Nekusar, pretty good on a wheel.
Geth’s Grimoire is an auto include one any Nekusar deck.
I use the Globlin Flectomancer in my Kenrith deck. It turns into basically a reusable redirect effect for {4}{B} (or {1} less with the ubiquitous Heartstone).
Generator servant is an underrated card. My friend has an etali deck and its definitely an allstar
Engulfing slagwurm is another good version of giant trapdoor spiders ability except it doesn’t cost any mana.
Run it in all of my graveyard decks highly recommend
Funny, I cracked a Goblin Game yesterday from a Mystery Booster. Nevertheless it will go in my "un-Cube", together with most of the other Playtest cards from mystery booster
These videos make my day.
I've always thought Genju should be a commander :p
It would be. I could see a 5 color enchantress deck, a deck all about enchanting and untapping lands for huge amounts of mana, or even running creature land tribal.
I've seen players run it as a commander
Geth’s Grimoire is a HOUSE in zurzorh, chaos rider
Glacial Crevasses is the perfect card for my mono red Toralf Skred Stax deck!
( :
Genju of the Realms belongs on a Crawling Barrens imo!
Glacial crevasse is bonker in Windgrace....
And the card need for speed
I use Glacial Crevasses in my Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician deck!
Man ,Gideon Avenger takes me back to a simpler time in Magic
Question about Goblin Flectomancer- what if they try to target it with like a Swords to Plowshares? Can you redirect it then? If so that card is amazing 👏
Yes, put it in your graveyard instead of being exiled to be brought back out later.
Whoever targets it with a removal spell must obviously not know what the goblin does.
Almost as good as fblthp
Suggestion for a card: Spore Cloud
if ur playing Geth's Grimoire consider Geier Reach Sanitarium for carddraw in a land slot
There's a few draw artifacts i've seen other players play in mono white that are good additions as whale.
Your argument for flektomancer... But for Grip of Chaos?
Fun fact: Hunting Kavu is another version of Giant Trap Door Spider from Invasion
Generator servant is so dangerous. Only creature in narset?
👍🏼👍🏼
Ooooo I’m gonna add Gideon to my Heliod deck, just give him Lifelink every turn ^_^
Geth's Grimoire is fantastic with Words of Waste.
Yo goblin game is so good for Florian, Voldaren Scion so he can tutor so deep for what he needs
Geths is amazing i have it in two decks
I'm going to feel bad doing it, but i'm totally adding Geth's Grimoire to my locust god deck
Genju of the Realm could be fun in a mutate deck.
when you were talking about Ghirapur Aether Grid.
dude........why did i not hear the golden ticket commander for this card...
and im talking about Toggo You play lands you get a rock which is a artifact so you landfalls you make a artifact for it and the rocks can be still be thrown when they are tapped because it gives the creature the abililty not the rock itself
as a matter of fact Josh lee Kwai deck from commander legends episode did this exact trick
ua-cam.com/video/latDzZF5yFE/v-deo.html
Im playing trapdoor spider in my Ruric Thar deck :P
I actually have a janky legacy deck that used Geosurge n Irenclad Feat to cast Drakuseth n other big beefy boys. That was my urabrask hellion tribal deck until I could afford Mana doubler artifacts and enchants
Goblin game + wound reflection
trapdoor spider should be a morph
No. You cannot just pick a number. Go get items and hide them. Cheaters 😂😂😂
Just realized that goblin game is actually really good in Neheb the Eternal
Edit: He said this about 3 seconds after i typed it sooooo XD
First
These cards are ass
I have a jegantha deck with a five color tribal theme, and genju of the realms is a real beater in that deck, and can even be a surprise blocker if your friends forget about it would recommend
