"A Rare Traditional Craft: Kirikane" - Chage and the Kirikane Artisan

Do you know the profession of a "Kirikane-shi" (きりかねし)?
These artisans are skilled in a highly rare and special technique known as "Kirikane," which is considered one of the forms of Buddhist art that was introduced to Japan with the spread of Buddhism.
In July 2023, Chage visited the master Kirikane artisan, Kanami Ikeda, who is striving to elevate and pass on this technique that has been practiced for over 1,300 years.
Chage learned about Kirikane, experienced it, and discovered a world that he might have never known about if not for Kanami Ikeda's invitation.
Through this video, Chage hopes to introduce this world of Kirikane to all of you.
