Money can buy resources. Let’s not kid ourselves. She’s very talented but I’m sure there are many like her that just can’t afford the gym time and equipment. That’s what people mean when they say money can buy success. Yes she has the talent and willpower and that’s great, but so so many others that are less fortunate than her.

it's super easy to get offended on the internet, especially the youtube comments. you have to take each comment with a grain of salt. It wasn't directed at you, it wasn't about you, it probably wasn't even said to you; just because you took it personally. It was about the person who wrote it, spoken through the limited lens that is their perception of life. It doesn't have to mean everything and break your heart, let the 'mean' comments go. Assuming what someone else is feeling is always a bad route to take in life. If you're not sure ask them. if you think you're sure, assume the best, not the worst. Have a nice day! Tiff

What a talented little girl! She will be set for college. I am not good at anything like that, but I wonder what it is like for altheletes to have something like this their whole lives and it to be over. Gymnastics, cheerleading, and almost all sports take you so far. Usually done after college with gymnastics and cheerleading. It has got to be hard and I hope she finds other things that make her happy too. Injuries have taken people out of gymnastics and that is all they have known. This is fun and she is great but it isn't a forever career. It does open the doors to many colleges though. I hope they do make it an Olympic sport cuz this little one has talent!

The only reason people are commenting that she is “lucky” is so they can have an excuse to not achieve great things in their own lives. If you want something bad enough you work for it. Plain and simple. This little girl is working her butt off. Great for her!

I’m so torn for multiple reasons. She is very talented. I will not deny that. My problems are two-fold. 1) what is the price of being such an athlete at such an age? I know many many athletes live their sports. But if you look at them, their worth is often tied to their sport. If they aren’t thin enough, they’re pushed to diet, if they suffer an injury bad enough, that’s it. Your dreams are through. I didn’t go far in sports but I did to dance (including pointe) and gymnastics. I’m 41 and I’m paying hard for the little I did. Is she being pushed to do it? What about her siblings? Are they treated equally? 2) as for the scholarship. It’s one thing to earn it, it’s another to need it. While I quite obviously do not know her parents’ financial status (nor is it any of my business), and I am aware that videos have been shot in houses staged for the video, rather than the individual’s real home, it does not appear that she needs the scholarship. That means it would be taken from someone who really does need it that probably didn’t have the advantages she has. And before you come for me, I do believe things like that should be earned and as I said, she’s extremely talented. She could very well earn it simply by actually being better than someone else. I don’t deny that. But she doesn’t need it.

No days off = future problems with joints, muscles. We don’t stay young forever and that’s just asking to get arthritis as you age. Success in sports isn’t all about time. It’s about having the right set of skills, at the right time. There are a lot of Mary Lou Rettons and Simone Biles out there, but they weren’t in the right place at the right time. A lot of elements had to fall into place to get Simone Biles where she is at. The talent is just the icing on the cake. Please keep this in mind when letting your children participate in activities, no matter how good they are. And certainly don’t invest money in an activity with the expectation that the kid will ‘pay you back’. That’s just weird and crappy. If you put out the money, the money is spent. You are the parent and the decision is yours.
