- . . . a well-presented malt which shows all the benefits of 46% vol, natural colour and non chill-filtration.

A great malt. Dances on the palate and is very moreish. Great length to the finish that leaves your mouth watering. The 15yo is excellent also - it's line the 18yo but with the gloves off. Perhaps the 15 before dinner and the 18 afterwards - sounds like a nice evening.
Kudos to you and Springbank. Wonderful thing you folks have put together. Cheers to Ralfy, and cheers to Springbank. Fantastic!
a great distillery! I have a bottle of the 15 yo which is absolutely lovely, really worth the money!
enjoyed that one, both the dram and the review. Four roses small batch gives me the same feeling of tight integration: i often refered to both as a ball of flavours. Everything is so tightly and almost perfectly condensed and integrated in the mouth. So lovely to see someone else find the same thing! keep'em coming ralfy!
You are one of my favorite reviewers and I so enjoy your reviews.
George...go for the 15. It's excellent! I have 58 malts, many of Ralfy's top recommendations and the 15 is my favorite...though Ralfy has never reviewed. The 18 is more dense/thick/intense flavors. The 15 is more refined though exploding with flavor also.
cooked carrots...sour sauce...dry wood..FANTASTIC
Hey, Ralfy. I decided to make a home-made drink in a pina-colada style, and mixed a 40 cl of a canned coconut milk, 10 cl of a blended whisky and 15 cl of an agave syrup. Tastes good) Better to serve on the rocks)
Currently having a drab of the 15 year old which is just amazing! if you get the time or the inclination I would love to see a review of this too! Thank you very much for the work sir ;)
I feel like this is how whisky should be!
Ralfy you are just the best, mate. Are there by chance any new distillery tours / walk-throughs on the horizon?
It's good to know they're making good use of the money.
Where can I get one of those magnifying glasses?
Ralfy: This one's just a wee bit out of my price range. But I enjoy the 10 yo and would like to try another Springbank. Have you tasted the 15 yo?
Love the stories you tell along with the reviews! Excellent stuff Ralfy. Keep 'm coming!
Hey mate.
Its becoming increasingly evident that America has received the memo. it appears that most craft distillerys here in the
US of A are bottling their products @46%plus, unchill-filtered and w/o the addition of E150a...Scotland take note!
I have had correspondence w/a few friends @ 2distilleries & when I asked if they use E150a, tongue in cheek one distiller replied "what is that"?? We gotta love that attitude Ralfy!
Now thats greatstuff mate.
Peace
Ralfy are you going to be reviewing the new cask strength, un chill-filtered. No color added
Glenlivet Nadurra? I just saw it new at my shop for around $59.99 U.S looks like its worth a try!
"Such a lot of ime. Such a lot of videos.". And God bless you for Ralfy!
Great Review Ralfy! Springbank 18 is one of my favorites. It's a little expensive in the US. Actually, out of my comfort zone, but I liked the 15 so much I had to try it, and I wasn't disappointed. However, I probably won't buy another bottle due to me liking the 15 more and at a much better price. The 18 has a better finish in my opinion, the 15 is shorter but it's so amazing on the pallet I'm more than happy for the finish to humbly exit:)
Hi Ralfy, Whats your opinion on the Springbank CV? Its a good price on M.O.Malt, would you say its worth trying? By the way, has Malty Mariners been mentioned?
Hi Ralfy,
in Switzerland i just can get the 15 Year old Springbank. How you think is the quality on this one? Is it about the same level like the 18 year old Springbank?
Great review! One of the best whiskies I've ever tasted.
Can't have enough Springbank. After allot of introspection, I think my favorite distillery is Springbank (to include all their brands, longrow, Klikerran etc..) can't be beat. Regrettably, I've yet to try the 18, but I have an open bottle of the 15, and an assortment of younger single cask Springbanks. I gotta try the 18
Lidl are doing an 18 yo single malt Speyside for 19.99 this week. Well rounded tasty whisky.
Ralfy, in your opinion what would you say is the best Irish whiskey?
"making a mistake is never a disaster" Excellent advice for the whisky enthusiast, not so great for the airline pilot...;)
Hello Ralfy
I like grants blended.
I will try single malt what can you recommend.
The ileac have a good price in sweden 32 euro.
What do you think ?
Hey Ralfy!
I was thinking about trying Springbank, but I only have the 15yo available right now. It's at 95 euros (about 81 pounds)... Is it worth it?
quick question - best book about whisky? Looking for history, method, politics, sociology, legacy, modern developments etc etc
Steam. Punk. Magnifier.
My malt mishap is deff Bowmore 12, but I still have some every so often. It's decent but tastes very chemical(ish) and that scares me.
Do you automatically like a no chill filtered, no caramel whiskey? Name one you don't like next time!
Thanks for all the content!
Springbank is hard to find here in Salt Lake City, Utah too. That, combined with the fact that eBay in U.S. doesn't sell alcohol - that I've been able to find- and that alcohol can't be shipped into Utah --- TRUE -- I have to make due with what the State Liquor Store decides they will buy.
Hi Ralphy. What do you think of the 12 yo cask strength? Thanks Graham, UK
I love your reviews and look forward to them; I do wonder though why you don't do them cold by that I mean open a bottle fresh and give us your immediate thoughts as opposed to your scripted comments as it is obvious you read them cleverly nosing and reading simultaneously. Don't get me wrong I love your reviews I would be most interested in seeing how you feel from first tasting live!
not sure if you would say its the same but there is also 'craghoppers sherpa-lined shirts' own one myself lovely thing bought in gooutdoors, they also have a website
and the more attention you pay to every step of the process the better the product. Division of labor means efficiency and lower costs, but it doesn't imply a better product. Commercial malts are made to satisfy the requirements of blends. That's where the money is. If you are a true craftsman in any craft you will probably want to take a couple of steps back from commercially available inputs and create your own from scratch.
Ralfy, on a club tasting of 18 yo whiskies would you go for Arran, Bunnahabhain, HP, Springbank or Talisker as the islands representative?
Also Any recommendation re fully sherry matured 18 speysider?
Ralfy you speaking at the Toronto Whiskeyfest or u just hangin out??
Peace
Hi Ralfy,
What happened to the circular running man that was hanging on your wall ?
Perhaps a difficult question, but still, here we go: does anyone know if Springbank is suitable for vegans/vegetarians? And yes, I've contacted them; but so far I've got no reply. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
Good show
I just bought this edition of Springbank 18 for $100.00 Canadian. I believe it will be an excellent malt for the price.
Why am I not surprised you've got a bottle of Cardhu Pure Malt?
Who knows? I tend not to be too finicky about whiskey temperatures personally. As long as it's about the same as the surrounding air, it's usually not losing anything in terms of quality or complexity to my taste.
I've not heard that wee cat for sometime now . . . Manx or Cymric one assumes.
where can i find a jumper like yours? real sheep wool i assume... can you point me in any direction?
Makes me wonder what temperature he is drinking his whisky at?
Hello Ralfy. Do you know Lambertus and The Belgian Owl? Amitiés de Belgique...
Just curious, what's your favorite distillery?
Ralfy what about Middle West Spirits OYO Whiskey?
How cold is it in your house? I can see your breath!
Thanks. I'll give it a try. I just subbed. Love your reviews! :)
Thanks
I'll give it a try tomorrow
Great review as always
I love SB 18, but price inflation prevents me from buying anymore.
Hi ralfy are you on Facebook. . Love your reviews mate malty magic !!!
time well spent!!
The problem isn’t the whisky itself - that’s just three basic ingredients, neither of which poses a problem for vegans/vegetarians. But since whisky owes so much of its flavours from the various casks used during maturation, the final product is clearly more than just those three ingredients, which is the true cause of concern since producers of sherry and port - regular providers of casks used by whisky producers - use egg whites or gelatin to fine their own products.
He already reviewed the Nadurra. Ralfy rated it at 87/100.
Unfortunately not for single malts. Imagine six shelves high and four to five different bottles/varieties across each shelve and that a VERY generous description of my selections... Sad. Oh well.. ;-)
America has tighter regulations on adding coloring to their whisk[e]y. Bourbon specifically cannot have any at all.
Where are Fanny & Bobby??
will do. cheers
Incredibly rich stuff!
I really miss the puppies ...
Do you have a twitter account?
Okay, the missing T is because I'm on my third dram. It was a long week. ;-)
Sherry... sherry... raisins... malt....salt....seaweed...walnut....coconut...oak. 2009 bottling.
@kidsafe.
My point precisely!!
All my friends watch your channel Ralfy! Raly Rulllllleeeeesssssssssss
That's not his house. I think he calls it a "bothy." Cheers!
It is beautiful here though... ;-)
The dank reminds me of the dank I get from uigedail. Uigedail is sherried, springbank 18 is not. Another complexity from scotch whisky.....period....
what could be ''meaty'' 'bout a spirit?
