mate what a talent this guy is /was !!!!!!... great tune back in the day and still fresh now ... see we got talent in the uk too,... roots is the man .... !!!!.. nuff said ...
This is one of those time machine songs... takes you right back to parts of your life, where you worked, lived, who you were chilling with what girls were doing the rounds.
is anyone actually listening/knowing what hes talking about in this song!?... the lyrics/content are so creative... the pros/conc of being in an not being in a relationship... i love cruising around to this song. ROOTS MANUVA BIG UP!
recently watchd a documentry about British rnb/ hip fop and the genral conclusion that he is basically is British rap !!! this is an all time classic !!!
Roots is definitely a genius! all his albums are like "BAM!!! Love this song! BAM!!! Love tihs song too! BAM!!! Love this song too! every one a winner!"
one of the many very under rated british rap artist.....why do we make it so hard for guys like this to become the best and show america how we do/used to do rap shame really they will be forgot as the youth dont know about them klashnekoff roots skinny man ect
Dizzee is a completely different brand of hip-hop music, and to be honest I don't blame him for selling out. He is actually better than the large majority of grime mc's and for that reason alone he deserves recognition for being the most successful person to come out of that scene. Fairplay to him, nuff mc's from the same generation are still on the skids with no dough.
A major label needs to pick this man up, and push his shit. That wasy, he doesn't need to actually commercialise, whilst still enjoying mainstream success.
tell it bredrin. a can see yu an enlightened brother from d words yu write. yu ryt dow, we need more positivity in we communities. we need teachers, and healers etc. peace
oh man,it really doesnt happen very often i like a song so much, but here, ive heard it and cant stop playing it again and again...i believe this is the song, that god has in his mp3 player:)..
love it love it love gotta love it. The tune is so hard hitting, and raw, when i heard it first time, i just recorded last few secs from the radio to my phone, with real bad quality, and then spent like 5 hours looking for it xD..song of my live;)
I think Manuva is the Best Rapper out of England Ever, not counting the British born but US raised MF Doom and Slick Rick!! Another dude that kept me from sleeping on the UK scene -y'all got a few (and I do mean a few) that can rap circles around even the best of US mc's and this dude is by Far the Gold Standard for the UK scene - and also the first that made me go run out and cop his Catalog - Run Come Save me was a masterpiece!!
@seaniebwoy76 'This is my money, this is my pain, these are my drugs' I always thought to myself that this line was him referring to himself about a drug addiction, bn v depressed and his missus getting pist off over him taking so many drugs... ha... thats the good thing about lyrics... they mean something different to everyone.. great artist... seriously good.. Ive seen him live a good few times n he never fails to impress....
Actually it isn't even on that Album, I have it. Dub Come save me is a remix version of "Run Come Save Me" which is when this song was released. 13th August 2001 in UK, and September 18th in US. The single was released October 8th in the UK.
So can you see past the honeymoon, where you beat me with a wooden spoon. Got me sleeping on the couch thinking who's house is this? This is my money, this is my pain. These are my drugs this is my pain. And it's never gonna be the same - man all this talking on this track but these lyrics are deep. If you've ever been in a loveless relationship hits hard man. Heavy
Some say I'm arrogant, some say I'm laid-back / From a council-flat paying, higher-rate tax / Who's that, who's the Gheez? Must be me / Manuva MC, with a second-LP / For all of the girls I got the vitality. One of the best lyrics I've ever heard.
