- Learn how to use Funnel Exploration reports in Google Analytics 4.
Compared to Universal Analytics, GA4 funnels are a welcome improvement. They allow you to build funnel reports on the fly. If you have been tracking some events for a while, you can use them in your funnel analysis.
This sounds like a default thing, but for years (in Universal Analytics) funnels were one of the weak spots. Well, not anymore. If you want to check how people are dropping off in different situations, you can do that.
In this video, you will learn how to build funnel reports, how to view standard and trended funnels, how to configure breakdown dimensions and funnel steps, compare segments, and more.

These videos are incredibly helpful. Thanks very much for doing them. Clear, precise and to the point.
Great video as always!
One important thing to add is that you can't create a funnel based on an item dimension, so ecommerce websites that want to query a funnel for a specific product will not be able to do that unless they send the items data in different parameters.
Uaww! This video is excellent! The content is absolutely very useful. Thank you!
Awesome explanation - thanks so much! :)
Amazing detailed explaination - i have been trying to undertsand and learn GA 4 since long. Great work. Tanks a lot

Great video - thank you :)
Amazing!! This is very helpful ❤
Epic as always!
I think what you explained is even better than the official tutorial. Great job!
Well that's not hard at all....
Love your content ❤
Thanks for good explanation.
Great Explaination!
Thank you for sharing- the videos are so helpful! Question about open funnel given your example: if user entered in step A, skipped step B, and completed step C (not sure how that would happen, but i'm also not well versed in ecommerce), would that be counted as a "abandonment"?
Very helpful 👌
Hi! Thanks for your video! Did you try to configure the same funnel in Looker Studio? Did the metrics give you the same results? I made the same funnel in the exploration and in Looker, but the number of total users are different.
Great 👌👌👌
Thank You very much for this video.
Hi! Thank you for this video. You mentioned that one could add the property of the product to the particular event. How can I do that? When I'm choosing the event, I'm not able to add information about the product in the line.
Thanks once more for another very useful video! In a funnel, if I select a breakdown by traffic dimensions (example, by session source/medium) the funnels seem to have incomplete data. Do all event in the funnel only get the UTM parameters for source/medium in a session if there was a conversion? Meaning if someone went through all the steps but didn't purchase, source/medium will only be present on the first page view and not passed to other sequential events in the same session?
PS: It's so annoying that on the fields you have to type free text and wait for their autocomplete like Filters, you can't see more than a few characters - this bugs me so much, would love that google fix this somehow
Seeing the same thing. Any luck with this? Trying to see how many users are referred by email traffic and then make a purchase. First metric is measured by session default channel group, second step is event name: purchase.
Amazing video. How can I do this in data studio with GA4?
really Awesome I'm Top fan analytics mania
Thank you
Hi,
One doubt: According to Google when I select the option of previous step is indirectly followed by a new step, it means that can have other intervening actions. What is the scope of this?. This intervening actions are events of what kind? in the same session? How can affect the final purchase? Thank you in advanced
Hi, Another question: Is it possible to show the 'event name + custom parameter' as the 'Top 5 next action'? I have multiple events with the same name (e.g., click) and the only way to differentiate the events is if I associate the customer parameter with it (e.g., step 1, step 2 etc.). Kindly let me know. Thanks.
Could you do a video about funnel exploration of a content page instead of e-commerce page? Thank you so much
No plans for that. The video you are interested in is available in this course www.analyticsmania.com/courses/google-analytics-4-course/
How to setup events for each funnel stage? like view_item, added_to_cart, purchase, etc?
I do have these shopping behaviour event for Shopify on GA#/UA. However, I do not see the same in GA4 even after linking UA to GA4. How can I define the same events in GA4 so that I can create the sales funnel in Looker studio based on the event names?
Did you find a solution?
The only thing that I dont get it is: when you set it as "Open Funnel" the users count went from 13,714 (10:42) to 13,668 (10:46), why this drop? Since its open shouldnt the users count keep the same?
that is because some of the visitors will have entered through the added to cart, begin checkout, or just purchase directly. and the users count u see are only for those whom had viewed the product and proceed to the next steps. so those 46 ppl did not view the product and went straight to either of the 3 funnels.
Great vid!
I would seriously think about changing your shirt though. Or move the mic..
Hi, I have an event 'submit:{treatment_type}'. Using 'treatment_type' I am trying to capture which all radio boxes (e.g., X, Y, Z) the user had selected at the time of clicking the submit button. Question - how can I use funnel to understand which radio box was most selected? Kindly let me know. Thanks.
Do you know if theses funnels can be visualized within Looker Studio? I mean, does this data gets imported whin the built-in GA4 connector?
You would need to build funnels in LS from scratch
One video on how to create view item events in GA4 using GTM please
That is explained here www.analyticsmania.com/courses/intermediate-google-tag-manager-course/
Hi. I ran a traffic Facebook Ad campaign in a country (say England). Now I want to
know which are the top 10 cities (of England) that engaged with that Ad
campaign. Is it possible to track?
Not sure in gA4. but you can track it fb ads dashboard
@@Ayush-bc2kz Facebook doesn't show locations where purchases were made
The User 3 Will be Counted for the open Funnel or not ?
does GA4 360 provide more advanced analytics features then GA4 free version.
genius
I don't have the begin checkout event, how do I enable it?
You need to implement ecommerce tracking
@@AnalyticsMania Okay thanks, how is this done?
Apply button is inactive when trying to create a funnel with my custom events. I'm super admin btw.
It's been a year... But total elapsed time is still there 😏
Can we see revenue at the end ofa funnel.
Holy sh... is that complicated..
