The 1995 version cast with Alfre Woodard, Charles S Dutton, Courtney B Vance, Lou Myers, Carl Gordon, among many other excellent actors gave a stellar and memorable performance of August Wilson's beautiful work. I bought it from the Hallmark store (vhs). It was important to share with my children, mother, grandmother, and family. Classics of this caliber are vital to educating, honoring, respecting, and loving our beloved ancestors and our beautiful culture. I'm excited and hopeful that this new version will be just as honorable, with this cast of wonderful talent. Peace, love, & blessings!!✌🏽❤🙏🏽

The kitchen scene with the singing, foot and hand stomping of "Berta Berta" with so much passion, pain, hope, the many emotions, I felt down to my bones. It's one of the most memorable scenes for me. I'm so thankful that Mr. Wilson blessed us with his wonderful works and that we have a plethora of talented actors who capture the essence of his works. I've watched it so many times with my family, throughout the years, so like yourself, the younger generations can appreciate and understand aspects of it even ore as they matured. I like it, but I am a little concerned whether it can be pulled off well. Having seen a live production of the play in the recent revival in New York, I’m worried about some of the power being taken away from the flashback monologues by showing them directly. Jackson’s monologue on the family history paints such an incredible visual picture on stage well without having to use visuals, i’m worried adding would dilute it🤔

I caught the play in NYC in October 2022, and now I’m excited to see how the film stacks up. Honestly, I mostly went just to see Samuel L. Jackson and didn’t know much about the play. Even so, Ray Fisher and John David Washington really stood out. I’m a bit bummed that Danielle Brooks won’t be in the film, since it looks like they replaced her. On the bright side, most of the original cast seems to be returning. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the movie turns out fingers crossed it’s good!

The Piano Lesson is a classic and I am thrilled that they adapted it from stage to film. These are Black stories that must never be stopped from being told. White people tell their stories all the time and their celebrated but as soon as Black people do it the are met with "oh this is another struggle movie" even from small minded Black people who kno w nothing about what had to be sacrificed for the freedom they now enjoy.
The idiots who got to the comments sections first and were whining about not wanting another “struggle film”, infuriated me. First of all they had no clue what The Piano Lesson was all about anyway. Second they want some revisionist stories in which black people in America did not face any struggles.

w nothing about what had to be sacrificed for the freedom they now enjoy.
People; no matter the color; are not all the same. I'm white and I think this looks amazing. Will definitely be watching this.
The idiots who got to the comments sections first and were whining about not wanting another “struggle film”, infuriated me. First of all they had no clue what The Piano Lesson was all about anyway. Second they want some revisionist stories in which black people in America did not face any struggles.
