I don't ever catfish but I like watching you catch them. I gotta say it's impressive how many, and how big of catfish you catch even on a lake you've never fished before. Hell of a fisherman buddy. Have a good one.
Great video Dave. I love the James, the history of the river is awesome. Down river a little ways is the oldest continual business in the US. It was started in the 1600's and is still going today. You can see some of the housing and the plantation from Hopewell. It's right on the river.
Dave, The Biggest Cats Right now(last 10 years) are coming out of the Roanoke River System on the Va/NC border. 143 lber and several topping 100 lbs. The NCWRC shocked one over 100 lbs in the river. they have pics of it
Gotta love wing dams ! It's good to see ya out there ! Tennessee River is home but I've fished wing dams over some travels. Power plants are also great in winter.
Always cool to see an out of stater fishing some of my spots. You were really close to some good spots. Sidenote-there are lots of flatheads in the James. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
Your consideration of the tide is correct. Target the current strength. Shad size recognition is the key observation. Big bait big fish. that size of shad or the presence of shad is endemic in the Chesapeake. Potomac rapppahaanok James. Eel don’t come off of the hook unless you want it to
I'm new to catfishing out of a boat and a new subscriber. I watched your video on catfish rods and have a question. Is there one good all around rod, not the best at one thing but good enough on all things? Fishing out of a boat that is. Bank fishing is a all together different. Thanks for your videos.
Hey Dave two questions for you dou you plan on taking some eel back to Tennessee with you and can you use eel as bait in Tennessee. God bless you man I enjoy your videos
Know the bass fisherman get you,but the bass fishing on lower James is so good,if I'm not mistaken the bass masters classic was held 3 yrs in a row there, not sure where you are,I'd be in Hopewell for some bigger fish
Anytime you fish a new place you have to try different spots to see what's there. I'm sure there'll be a hole somewhere on that river holding monster's in. It may take a while to find it. But it's there. I'll beat on it. Take care, God Bless.
Oh look Catfish dave fishing in my neck of the woods. At one point i thought i’d get to meet him but looks like he didn’t really give a dam about fans 🤷🏻♂️ guess thats why i barely watch anymore. Guess it saved me some drama that he carries in his livewell..thanks !
Hate to tell you,it's kinda on downlow, but the number of 60-80+ blues that are in lower James would blow your mind, the food source is second to none, because of the huge shad, crabs, herring that come in from the ocean
It's not on the dl, lol Secrets been out for years. I prefer Chickamauga over watts bar. I think tennessee is a great fishery and plenty a fish to be caught but I'm honest enough to know the laws of averages. It's like playing the lottery. Would u prefer fishing a water with 10 50lb fish per mile, or 100?
Thank you for sharing and God bless you man. Your friend from Maryville Tennessee 👍

Looking forward to the time when your YT channel grows to the point you can travel all over the U.S. in search of huge trophy catfish.
As some others mentioned, I don’t cat fish but love watching your videos. You sure make it interesting, keep it up….

They grow cotton and have various other businesses on the property.
You are one of the best at new spots that I’ve ever seen or just plain ole lucky…which I don’t believe in…cause I’m a fisherman too. Kudos.

Slimey eels,
Thank you Dave.

There are boat loads of flatheads on the james
I got the bluegrass music queued up on another tab for that first fish so dont worry about playing any...
I live in Lynchburg VA middle part of James flathead capital of the James. Got decent Channels too not many blues.

James River is Better
Catfish Dave is the James River brackish water I guess it would have to be to have a tide
Yes. Getting near richmond is less of course. Farther down is more.
I ve caught flounder in my cast net a little down river from where he is, but they go up to where Dave is too. Not in bunches though.
Hey Dave two questions for you dou you plan on taking some eel back to Tennessee with you and can you use eel as bait in Tennessee. God bless you man I enjoy your videos

👍👍👍👍🎣
Get more eel for bait!😁
Different river, same results
Dang Dave your catching so many you can’t even eat a bite of cheese😂
I'm liking the James River videos and learnin' the tide bite. I notice there are no dogs barking. Is this due to their cultural lifestyle?
Take a hike
Great shows keep up the good work be safe my friend
Whats the water temp Dave
CatFishDave CFD!!!! Out with another banger!!!!🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅
Have you ever fished any of the Missouri lakes?
You might try wearing a damn boggan or hat on that head when it’s cold
THANKS!

Don’t mind me just thought I’d wave a hand and help the channel.
Nope. Scam. Cat fisherman don’t put sissy hearts on comments.

What’s a wing dam???
If a guy or gal likes catfishing, then you cannot do better than Dave.
The trophy catfish are going to be south of Jordan Point.

I’m in Richmond but fish at Gaston. You have any plans on hitting Gaston or Kerr lake while you are up here?
Hello Dave

Hello people

4 rods in the water, 2 fish on, and a missed bite, what's up with the other rod ?? Quit Playin !!
Nope... I'll take Tennessee catfish any day !
If I could only fish one body of water it would be Watts Barr lake for sure.
Hate to tell you,it's kinda on downlow, but the number of 60-80+ blues that are in lower James would blow your mind, the food source is second to none, because of the huge shad, crabs, herring that come in from the ocean
@@brianlangford7278 this may be so, but Watts Barr is nothing to sneeze at.
It's a great fishery, beautiful scenery and the fishing is awesome.
It's not on the dl, lol

@@packerjh2 since I live in Cookeville Tennessee I prefer Watts Barr. I do plan on making a few trips to Nickajack though.
@@packerjh2 more than that my friend,so many that the guides can't book everyone coming,me ,even if it was ,ill take 10 ,50's
Funny how there is no tide in the seas, not even the great lakes
Broke the boredom here at work again wishing I was out fishing today again 🎣
Way to go Dave
