Now, if Caitlin had shot those shots, and made 50% of them...that would be 9 more baskets...and that makes 18 points ( if all were 2 pointers )...minus the 12 SC won by...and Iowa would have won by 6. But you need to read the comment again that is here... it's about Raven shutting down Caitlin Clark... Clark scored 18 in the first quarter... that's a tournament record ( and another one for Clark ) and scored 31 points for the game...how is that shutting her down???

Yes, it was psychological, too, and she messed Clark up mentally and got all in her head. That's what a good defensive player can do regardless of how many pts they score.
Raven did do a great job defensively not taking anything away from her but it was the whole South Carolina defense. Anytime Caitlin got around Raven there were always two people on her. They had a good adjustment n way more talent. 37-0 bench points n Clark being flustered n off idk how it was as close as it was.

All the highlights on other channels are giving more air time to CC they don't even recognize the other players. Gamecocks have more than shooter's they played as a team. Raven shot poorly in this game, but she played more minutes than any of her teammates because she's the team's leader and because she played outstanding defense on Caitlan Clark. UConn--actually, Nika Muhl--made Caitlan a volume shooter (7 of 18 [38%] for 21 points). South Carolina threw a Top 20 defense at Caitlan, and while Raven didn't guard Caitlan exclusively, she became the primary defender after Bree struggled with her. South Carolina also made Caitlan a volume shooter (10 of 28 [35%]), and if Bree and Chloe hadn't fouled Caitlan on three-point shots early in the first quarter, she probably wouldn't have finished with 30 points.
Raven picked Caitlan clean two or three times--the first swipe kept Iowa from getting off a good shot to end the half--knocked the ball away twice during Caitlan's dribble, blocked her shot twice, and frustrated her all game long. While flawlessly running the nation's third-best offense. Raven only shot 1 for 11, but she only had 1 turnover while getting 4 steals. And led the #1 team in the country to a perfect season and a national champtionship in her first full season as a starter. South Carolina's Revenge Tour was a tour de force!

That's how you play defense on that girl. Nobody was really challenging her and getting physical with her. Of course she could score with weak defense and constantly going under on a screen. Bigs not stepping up contesting shots only leaves her wide open. She can shoot the ball I won't take that from her but she finally got challenged. Great job Raven!
