@7:18 - Yep. I remember when all devices just had the plastic clip back when I was a kid in the 70's. All it took was for a few unsupervised toddlers to swallow a handful of batteries later, and now we all have to pull out our screwdrivers to replace them.
I was interested in one for a minute til it was a NES rom. I've noticed from other UA-camrs that some of the newer My Arcade now actually have genuine roms, altho they seem to be adapted in some way.
This reminds me of when my sister got the Pac-Man mini arcade game for Christmas and I got a microscope when we were kids. I was really disappointed. 😅
This one joystick jank is the reason I never buy products from these "retro experience" companies. They always reveal they have little to no actual understanding of the product's appeal. People need to stop impulse buying nostalgia bait so these companies can go under and open a market for quality product.
It's most likely due to the abundant cheap and legal NES glop-top hardware re-implementations, vs. the cost of something more custom and less prevalent that would be capable of emulating the arcade hardware.
Karate Champ was ok enough in the arcade, Yie Ar Kung-Fu is a much better game. I like these mini arcade games. Not so much for playing, but for displaying. I have the Galaga and it's also the NES rom which is disappointing. Nice review.

Loved the arcade but the control system used 2 joysticks, no buttons.

That's interesting to know, I'll have to try and get some of those!
@@TheLairdsLair I think it's Gen X Grown up who had them. A handheld Galaga and a tabletop Ms Pacman.

Oh dear, hahahaha, shouldn't laugh!

This is really cool!
Do you think they realise how many more people would buy these things if they used arcade ROMs?
Why do they do that?? - crappy NES version. Can't be cost of license or whatever, it has to be sheer ignorance

Releasing the NES version is fine but they shouldn't mislead buyers. That's just wrong.
what a shame

Totally agree with everything you say there!
