- Turning A $5 Pizza into a gourmet $50 pizza in this food prank with Logan Jr Chef.
With 3 billion pizzas consumed each year, it's a staple in many households. What happens though, when we take this favorite and let Chef Logan Guleff, winner of MasterChef Junior 2014, do his magic.
Stuart Edge and Chef Logan ordered $5 pizza and show the simple process of transforming it into a “gourmet” entree, with ingredients from the local grocery store.
Can the average person tell the difference between the original and the same pizza dressed up? The “gourmet” pizza was taken to the public for an on the spot taste test to find out.
Stuart and Chef Logan set up a booth at a trendy local Farmers Market, under the pretense of offering samples of “gourmet” pizza from Legends Artisan Pizza. While there, people raved about the delicious pizza, but what happens when they find out it was $5 pizza all along

if you add 'gourmet' toppings, it becomes a 'gourmet' pizza. and if cooked well, the crust would be no different from a 5 dollar pizza and a 200 dollar pizza, because crust is made from yeast, flour, water, sugar and a pinch of salt, Even 'Gourmet' pizzas use the same exact recipe. There's no such thing as 'gourmet' pizza dough.
Agreed.
But there actually are different kind of doughs: sourdough crust, carbon black pizza dough... but a regular crust is always a regular crust. However, the awesomeness of the crust depends more on the how than the what. My friend actually bought a “tombstone” to place in his oven to recreate the bread oven effect of many pizzerias in Croatia.
I've had a wood-fire pizza oven in a previous house and the difference in taste between a homemade bass and store bought is minimal. Especially if you buy bases that only use the staple ingredients.
I can guarantee if you put gourmet toppings on one, it would taste near identical to a pizza made from scratch. Maybe even better.. because the perfect dough mix is tricky, yet when purchased, you'll know it will be consistent.

Sounds like Legends Artisan Pizza is going to have to go to a local homeless shelter the Christmas time and give some people some awesome pizza.
I have to say that I'm writing from a city called Naples in the south of Italy which is , by the way , the city where pizza was born . Watching this video ,at first , made me think right away : " Wow here we eat pizzas that are much better and "good-looking " than those ,( even compared to 50 dollars pizzas 😁) but at the end I reconsidered myself and actually I think that this video shows , at least under my point of view , how wonderful is the meeting of different cultures , in this case food-cultures, and the capacity to create different conceptions of what , seen from the "outside"(in this case I feel like I'm speaking for Italy in particular), might look strange, gross and terrible even to smell . Thanks to this video I've understood the beauty of the differences between us and maybe this comment can also be an incentive to come taste a slice of Neapolitan pizza ☺

+JOSEPH FERNANDEZ the crust and sauce is still the same. Most people criticize $5 pizzas because of the weird flavor the crust has. We decided to take one, dress it up to look gourmet, and see if people would think it tasted better.
