I loved this video so much! You inspired me to get a hobonichi! As a zine maker myself, it’s so much fun and can be whatever you want it to be about, the only “rules” in the community is that they’re affordable + usually handmade (they can be digital too and brattyxbre has an amazing procreate template) because the zine community is all about making art accessible and affordable to be able to showcase yourself more! I think you’ll have so much fun with it, brattyxbre has some amazing videos on UA-cam about zines!

I was wondering; the pen you use in your goals section of the video looks like it writes so smoothly I was wondering what type of pen it is!!

Paloma, thank you sharing your art. This video is a nice ease into the new year and I found it comforting because sometimes the stress put on resolutions/goals in creative practice makes me not want to put myself out there. The way you expressed how that fear feels was familiar and it felt nice to give space to think about it.
Best wishes into the new year 🎉

What a lovely vlog. I loved how calming it was is - the music. The shots that take their time. Your easy, chill voice. I resonate with your more personal goals too. Hiding myself all the time. I hope 2024 is the year we celebrate ourselves more ❤

Really enjoyed this video. It felt like such a daydreamy wonderful way to be mindful about the new year. I especially resonated with that comment about memory and work. Also, I was excited to see that Printkeg does small batch 4 x 6! That's what I've been needing, so it was a perfect suggestion.

This was so inspiring! I would have never known that you struggle with authenticity!! As an artist myself, I look up to you and your style of videos! I hope to one day make art content similar to yours but I struggle with wanting my content to be fresh and posted as soon as it's filmed or I feel like I'm lying when really it doesn't matter and batching content is the easier way to create videos. Anyways I hope 2024 is a good year for all of us. Thank you for being you!

i also have that “lying” issue!! idk i struggle so much with presenting myself on the internet! showing my art is a breeze but appearing on camera, talking and showing who i am feels so scary

Paloma! Love your videos. Have you considered working with a local printer?? I own a stationery company and we also used to print and score all of our own greeting cards but moved to working with a local printer. It’s great to work with an actual person and then we also got to spec the paper. Just something to consider! Keep up the good work. Tempted to get a Hobonochi after watching this lol.

Where to begin? Thank you SO much for this video and sharing your thoughts and feelings! I wish I'd been so insightful when I was younger! I have always been really introverted and was diagnosed late for ADHD, I have anxiety and a list of other things, but what I'm getting at is that I've become something of a "Wallflower Artist". I don't know if that's a thing, but it's how I refer to myself because I see all of these really successful artists, especially young ones in their 20s living my dream. I think it is amazing, I hope I don't come off as mean saying it. I'm not really great at articulating my thoughts and feelings... definitely not concisely so hopefully this doesn't bother anyone reading this ^^; I feel like I'm getting closer to my dream and really it's to be able to do what I love, art, full time and sustain myself. I don't feel the need to be rich and famous (not that that's a bad goal, just not for me), but just so I can live a slower, comfy/cozy life.
The reason I mention all of that, is I've only ever found consistent success in fanart which is really demoralizing. I have always had more of my original art available, but it seems to always go unseen if I don't have something people are familiar with. I can't get any eyes on my original work. I am not complaining (sorry if it sounds like that!) I'm just not sure what to do. I don't want to sell fanart, mainly because it's not mine and if you don't have permission or are familiar with the copyright holders terms then it's illegal. However, I've made sure that I can safely sell mine, and once I can get my original pieces selling consistently I intend to phase the fanart out completely. I guess I am envious of you and other young artists in that way - but nothing toxic, I am far more pround and excited for you. I've spent decades trying to figure out what I'm not doing. So, having said all of this, I can relate to how scary it is making new art, wondering if it will catch anyone's eye. Experimenting is so fun, but will others enjoy it? I have to check in with my art side regularly to make sure I'm not allowing too much of what I do to be influenced by others as opposed to what I want. I strongly feel that art should be done for oneself first and foremost. Create freely and if others like/love it, or it becomes something to sell, awesome, but create first. I also feel like gig culture strangles artists in that so much more is expecting allowing less time to contemplate and create. If an artist can keep up with the hustle, that is amazing, definitely genuine kudos to them! I can admit maybe it's because I'm considered an Old Fartist ^^; that I can't seem to keep up as quickly with all the equipment, videos, trends... I feel like I'm always one step behind, moving in slow motion. Please from my heart I say don't be scared! True fans of you and your art will love what you do BECAUSE YOU created it. I forgot where I heard/read it, but someone said that artist literally create something from nothing. Whatever it is that you do is so extremely special because you brought something into existance, that's pretty amazing. Nothing will ever match it if hundreds of people tried. You could think of each piece you make as a miracle. That may sound grandiose or maybe even cringe, but think about the statistics of that coming about? Maybe that's a bit too existential ^^; I apologize if it sounds weird. Again, I can see my block of text and my brain is like, come on Danni, wrap it up!
I hope that you find comfort and motivation and inspiration from your fans though. I'm so inspired by your creativity and how you're able to do so much! I have tried some other creative endeavors like polymer clay, crocheting, and more recently embroidery, but it's going much slower as I tend to get distracted easy. I think watching vids like yours helps keep me focused though. I think your journaling and your reset is a wonderful process - thank you so much for sharing. All the best to you in the coming year - you got this! ^_^b
