    I’ve had Glass for around 7 months now and being totally honest in the beginning yes there were more than a few issues but as time has gone on Sky do seem to have fixed the majority of them. Issues with the ITV hub have now disappeared, the tv no longer switches off whenever it feels like it and it doesn’t freeze anymore either. I’m more than happy with it, it’s a great tv with fantastic picture and quality sound. Not being able to record things to watch again a year later isn’t a problem for me personally. Most things that I watch tend to stay on catch up for more than long enough. Never had any issues with the Glass pucks either, they work absolutely fine. A friend who is a Sky engineer has told me that the next generation of Glass tv’s isn’t that far away and current Glass customers will get the opportunity to just upgrade to it, give back their old Glass tv and renew their package. The new tv’s will more than likely have even better sound, picture and added recording abilities I’ve been told 👍🏻 so if you’ve already got one like me don’t worry as you’ll be able to upgrade, and if you dont already have one then you may want to wait until the new version comes out.

      i've noticed they have 4k tv now. but i've got sky stream was cheaper than Q and worked fine for me there has been loads of moaners about stream but mines off a three 4g dongle and works HD fine on all channels. only downside if your bothered is it takes a while to start up and sometimes says wifi not working when i have it wired in, and changing channel takes a while sometimes but thats probably down to my internet. but other than that it works great and the layout exactly the same as glass. i've noticed the picture quality on my stream is way better than my Q box was and its only down as 1080p atm not UHD.

    Make sure you allow the delivery people to unpack and assemble because it is very heavy and has a very complicated stand that needs two people to put together
    This is on a rolling contract now so you can cancel your sky subscription at any time after a month
    I got the 43” and will pay £13 a month for it and £26 for the tv, so £39 a month when I needed a new tv and was paying Sky £31 anyway for hardly anything you pay the £13 for 48 months to purchase the tv, if you cancel your subscription then it becomes a smart tv with freeview but not sure how that works if I would need an aerial?
    Or if it just gives the free sky channels
    It does “record” so not sure why people say it doesn’t you add programs to your playlist now instead of actual recording so far I’m happy with it because as I said I needed a new tv and when I move house now I can’t just take the tv and no waiting 4 weeks for sky to come and put a dish or box in

    Thanks! I was intrigued about the TV but also felt it would be a downgrade due to lack of recording etc BUT worse if we lose internet which we regularly do, we lose Sky. I feel this is an approach to lower hardware expense by finally removing the dish in the near future. Our internet just isn't reliable enough. Although counter intuitive if say this TV could connect to our Q box like the mini box in our bedroom it would be a cool bedroom TV but as it's one or the other, sadly it's of no use. Nice effort though it's very early Imac in design.

    Sky still ripping customers off as usual.
    Majority of houses will or soon will have a games system that won’t work properly on this system. The tv is a tone in weight and you will need a really good wall mounting bracket and a really thick well built wall to hang it on. £5 to pause and rewind is a joke.

    Thank you for a clear and informative video on Sky Glass. We have an LG TV with a separate sound bare. We have a basic package with Sky and after we redecorate we want to have a TV in the alcove on a remote control bracket and will be looking to get a new TV doing away with as many wires as possible. I have Fibromyalgia which effects my eyes too so I need a picture quality to be as crisp as possible too. There is so much out there now and I just have no idea what to look for 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t want to ask in a store as I just feel fobbed off with what ever TV’s they are trying to shift! You’ve raised some great points so far as we can’t bare adverts and always fast forward so if we got Sky glass we would pay the extra. Not being very tech minded I’m just doing my best to research and try to decipher which is best. We won’t be doing any gaming for sure so I guess 60 kHz would be ok, again🤷🏻‍♀️The picture quality is a must and a good quality built in speaker (husbands hearing nit as good) but being in a bungalow not a huge room it shouldn’t take much to achieve what are needs are. Any pointers would be great fully received 🙏🏻 Thank you so much 📺😊

    SKY Glass is a con.
    I bought Sky Glass, not on a credit agreement, I stupidly bought it and paid in full in March. The TV was at first faulty and got replaced in July. Between then and now I've had a growing frustration with it.
    Ultimately this product is inferior to Q. You can't record. You get less channels. So I decided I wanted out.
    The problem is this. When I did the research I discussed the TV with a Sky Rep at a stand, and gave him the hypothetical situation that if I wanted to change product in the future I could sell the TV (the benefit of buying it outright) and someone else could use it.
    They said yes, this was possible.
    Well. That is a lie. You can't.
    When you sell the TV no one else can use it and attach a Sky Glass subscription to it. Basically it is useless. You ae essentially painting yourself into a corner as you now have a TV no one wants to buy as it can't be used as the thing it is advertised for.
    Needless to say I am now seeking legal advice on this. As SKY clearly must have the ability to attach anew subscription to a TV. They are basically just limiting the free trade of the TVs on the open market (people wanting to sell as they want a new product) but buyers not being able to use the TV.
    I'm now raising this with a number of consumer bodies. SKY must have the ability to change TVs to new owners as they did when they sent me my new one - and let’s face it they will have sold on the faulty TV after they had fixed it.
    People need to be aware of this limitation with Glass. An inferior product to Q. And ultimately an inability to be able to sell on for the purpose it was intended.
    I tried to resolve the mis selling with SKY and they have washed their hands of it.

    Just switched to sky glass from virgin... I was paying £89 with virgin on there old ultimate oomph bundle but now they have stopped it I have to upgrade to different packages and it would put the cost upto £167 a month!!! That's right neally double the price 😂 so... Iv looked at prices ect... Stay with virgin for just broadband (I can't get fibre from by landline yet in my area so have to be with virgin if I want good speeds and I really need it with kids gaming haha) that's £31.50 a month for 500mb... Then £62 a month for glass 65" with 1 puck, total's £93.50 then take out a 8gb SIM (in replace for one iv lost from virgin) £8 so in total that's £101.50 ... I'm my opinion that's better than paying £167 a month to stay with virgin haha.. and tbh we had a 50inch TV that's was LED so picture quality defoo better.. we had a standard sound bar (which will now go in my room) so I think I done okay haha and stops my son pulling on the virgin wires through the house he's only 11 months lmaoo

I was hacked off with Virgin, I'm not a gamer and I could not be arsed with the other stuff like sound system. Plus is came in pretty colours like a phone. I had thought the loss of recording might be difficult, but to be honest I'd record whoe series on my Tivo box and never watch them. So it did not matter in the end and I’ve had it almost a year. Works for me, as really only need something to watch TV, Netflix etc.

  • @NeonVisual
    @NeonVisual 2 роки тому +2

    You also can't use Hue lights on the back of the tv either, as they need an HDMI out from the source, which the TV doesn't have, and as you've rightly said, no bluetooth functionality means no more headphones, and if you want to use the TV without a subscription you're pretty much getting a monitor only, you can't even plug in a fire stick as the USB can't power them. It's just solving one set of problems and creating numerous others in the process. It's as if sky think their customers don't buy expensive equipment to go with their expensive viewing subscription.
    Like 99% of other people who take one look into the details of glass, we'll wait for it to come in a set top box as this isn't the sky over broadband anyone asked for or wants.

    People are missing the point here, sky brought the tv out so people that are unable to have dish’s on their buildings as in high rise flats, conservation areas, listed properties can have sky, what happened is people liked the concept of it, as in removing the dish from the walls and cables everywhere that they purchased it, then moaned, I got it as I now have one plug used instead of 3 , I can remove the trunking around my wall that carries the cables from the dish, and I do t have to fork out 400 plus for an Atmos sound bar, and then fix that to the wall etc…. It doesnt help that none of the TV adds are about solving the problem of having Sky on a communal system. I think if uptake is less than expected from communal blocks they can do a tailored advert.

  • @paulmcgeever5343
    @paulmcgeever5343 2 роки тому +2

    The concept seems ingenious but in reality it is a very expensive solution to sky making satelite dishes obsolete. Although sky now do 30 day contracts and seems like the tv is a good buy. The 48 month plan sky are pushing to make it look affordable is slightly onerous as they only offer a 24 month warranty. My question would be if it breaks down after the first two years how much will it cost to get repaired or will it be a case of you buying another tv on another 48 month plan. This would mean you may for instance have 2 years left to pay on the first tv that no longer works and another 48 months on the new tv. It will be one way of sky ensuring they are earning money from their customers and keeping you tied into them for the longer term. You also have to bear in mind that inorder for sky to attract customers the tv has to be resonably priced but what will be the cost in the long run. I am an ex sky customer as was fed up of all their price increases and have a much better quality tv and sound system costing not much more than their 65 inch set costs. All in one solutions are not long term viable solutions.

    Two points not mentioned regarding the Playlist.
    ITV Hub to where SKY Glass shunts you for ITV catch-up when you want to view your Playlisted episode of Emmerdale
    is in poor quality SD. Other problem is that a Playlist episode broadcast on say, a Geo Graphic broadcast might only be available to be streamed on a different channel where you don’t have a subscription.
    Noted, your highlighting that if you leave watching an ITV Playlisted item and wanted to return later you would have to wade through the adverts all over again.

    18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Fire stick will be powered by the usb c with the correct connector. IpTV is the only reason you would complain about the fire stick as the tv is basically a 65 fire stick… Bluetooth isn’t built in but you can add this (apparently) via hdmi l and Tv backing light also doable using usbc again with correct connector usbc/usb. Sky brought this out because they are a business not because they think of the needs of it’s customers. Think about it, a sky TV from sky displaying sky interface in your living room. Why have they done this? It’s another step in them getting people to become reliant on their service. They don’t give away free tvs. I’m guessing you don’t keep the tv when the contact ends? Where does this leave you when you switch to let’s say free sat? It leaves you With no tv and to save hassle of getting a new tv just to switch to another provider, you don’t bother and keep paying sky as it’s less stressful. This company ain’t daft, they want to control its customers by getting them excited by having a new tv but then leave them trapped and reliant upon them to keep up with the subscriptions which inevitably go up and up. Don’t be fooled, stick with your q box and your OWN tv.

    Two of a few reasons I won't buy SKY GLASS is there's no ability to record things and the channel list is the exact same list on SKY GO which has a lot of channels missing.
    They claim their solution for not having the ability to record is pure bull. When you miss a program you wanted to watch only a small percentage allow you to watch from the beginning and if there's two programs you wanted to watch at on at the same time your SOL.

    I am just thinking if you have the TV and paid it off in full so you own it now but don't want sky anymore and want to use lets say virgin or freeview will the TV let you or if you cancel the sky will the TV just brick it self that is what i want to know. As having that all in one sometimes means you have what is in the TV and you cant use anything else. And will the TV even work still if you cancel Sky on other things like a game console or is it only for TV.

    You say it doesn't need a satellite, yet the sky website says:
    "Sky functionality requires two satellite feeds. You must get any consents required (e.g. landlord's)."
    For someone that doesnt have or want a satellite feed due to me not paying for a TV licence, can I still use this TV and its smart features?

    I can tell you the streaming quality is nowhere near as good, you only.have to look at the picture quality of the itv hub, it's completely second rate.... Most streaming services are not good quality, including the BBC.... Basically lowered and lower the quality over the years...

    ITV hub adverts are the worse . They even put adverts over the top of live TV so I turned into ITV 1. Had 40 or so seconds of adverts then it joined the live feed which then went to an advert break lol.

    Also think of it this way…. Sky are offering redundancies to all their engineers phasing the installation engineers out so how long will sky q be reliable and what will you do to fix issues? Instead they are employing broadband engineers. I’ve had nothing but problems with sky q boxes just breaking down and waiting 2 weeks for an engineer. How long will this wait be in a years time?

    This is sky glass version 1.0 so all the extraslike "only 60hz" means nothing because if theres the demand they will build the future generations with the most in demand features. This video was from 4 months ago and most of these bugs are either fixed or will inform the design of the next version. You get your first puck for free when you take out whole home

  • @paul28177
    @paul28177 2 роки тому

    dude... for the most part this video is good... but the pricing is way off.
    You chose a 2 channel 40w sound bar at £149 (although now £89) - sky glass has a 6 channel set up with up to 215w output with built in dolby atmos compatibility --- these are not on the same level... it would be like comparing the samsung a series smartphone speakers with iPhone 13 speakers
    but it's interesting about the TV comparison.
    I was looking at upgrading our second TV -- i just dont understand why sky couldnt add a harddrive or even an option to plug in a portable one - the fact the usb-c port is power only means there is no way around this. If your internet goes down you are screwed and limited to terrestrial TV, which not everyone gets a great signal the old fashion way, hence sky. They could easily have it so episodes can be downloaded (just like on sky q they download for better-uninterrupted watching) - it's a very strange move.
    They could also have built this so it could be linked to a sky q box
    I might look at the samsung tv instead now

    I do not see why the refresh rate of 60hz should be an issue for gamers? The human eye cannot tell the difference between 50hz or 60hz, so how can I tell the difference with a faster refresh rate? BlueRay DVD and some HD channel’s refresh at less than 30hz

    • @ItsSamuelJones
      @ItsSamuelJones  Рік тому

      There's a few reasons. It is definitely not as big an issue for most people though. I think VRR is more important and it reducing things like screen tearing etc. but for 90% of people 60HZ will be fine.

    Just waiting to have Sky Glass taken away.
    The picture is vague and washed out, we have the 65in tv and it’s really poor.
    Compared with the LG 55in we had attached to the old Sky +HD box….the picture is not just rubbish.
    The sound a good. That’s not an issue.
    The playlist stuff is rubbish. Having to log in to ITV hub and BBC iPlayer etc is a pain, you then inherit all the adverts that come and it’s a pain.
    So we’ve gone for Sky Q and are plugging the LG back in.
    Honestly the premise is okay, it is what will happen and how we are going forward…..but this isn’t up to snuff yet. Maybe in three to four years.

    Also, think about negative comments about the picture and sound standards. Its not fair to compare sky glass to a £10000 hoke cinema setup. You'd be connecting a puck to your home cinema equipment so you can have your cake and eat it.

      You can compare it to a TV of similar price though. And in a lot of cases you can get more for your money. Sky glass works best as people can incorporate the cost into their plan which makes it affordable.
