- My friends and I went on a travel-by-glider adventure. We flew from Hollister to Warner Springs, in California. The next day, we'll attempt to fly back.
Discover what flying sailplanes is really like. This is the story of a full glider flight, from take-off to landing, shown in time-lapse. It includes voice-over commentary, 3D visualizations, instrument overlays, statistical overlays, 360 video, and post-flight analysis.

Awesome flight Ben! You got me thinking that maybe it’s time to get into gliders after 50 years of powered flight.
@@rickh4310 you absolutely should! It is so addicting.
Very cool...really like your context and analysis of the flight and decision making process. Camera work is awesome too. Really enjoy your flights... thank you!
Bloody fantastic! Thanks for bringing us along! Cheers from Down Under!
Wonderful video. I always feel that we are riding along with you on your adventure.
Great adventure Ben . It must have been very gratifying to make it after a few iffy situations. Thanks for your tips on how to incorporate SportsTrackLive into videos.
Great adventure. I learn a lot from watching these and seeing your decision-making in progress.
thanks Ben for the thorough commentary. I'm looking to travel by glider this summer and I know my biggest problem will be unknown terrain. Fortunately we have a lot of landouts here in the alps. Gonna try to see southern France and come back to my home airfield in Switzerland. It's supposed to be an easy distance for my skill level (300km) but the sole idea of traveling makes it sooo thrilling!
Sounds like a great adventure. Good luck!
Fantastic video, thank you so much for sharing. This is definitely different from a long Ercoupe adventure!
What's the vapour from before you land? Were you jettisoning water ballast for landing, or something like that?
That's right, I was dumping the water ballast
That’s awesome! I like the narration and detail in the video. Thanks for posting.
Nah man if you land out, you're not own your own. We'll make sure you get back.
a great adventure thanks for sharing. can you give a few more stats from both flights in the next video. cheers from Australia
Epic stuff!
Awesome!
I want to be able to fly like this some day!
My dream I love to learn Glide travel in CA
Great vid!!
Great teamwork! It was really fun to see this video. Thanks for sharing the trip, looking forward to see the next video when you try to fly back again.
What camera do you use?
Regards from Sweden and a LS8 pilot ❤
Nice flight, nice edit! 6:27 is epic.
Magnifique ! I came across one of your video last fall as I was about to fly my first solo. Your videos are so exciting to watch and keep me motivated as I train for my first solo cross country flight soon. Cheers from France !
Thanks! Good luck on your first XC flight.
enjoyed watching your video a lot! thanks!
Nice!
I was very happy to be able to fly north with you the next day as far as Crystal before I returned to Warner as XΔ. (Video available on that)
Looking forward to the return episode.
What camera are you using ? My older generation 360 doesn’t have near the resolution
It was good to fly with you, Bill! I use the Insta360 X3, but I upscale the footage to 4K using Topaz software.
@@BenHirashima thanks, looks Great!
I just soloed in a glider for the first time today at CVH. Thanks for the inspiration!
How many hours have you flown to be comfortable with XC adventures like this one?
Congrats on the solo! I guess I'll see you around the airport. I have about 700 hours.
Very entertaining and amazing adventure.
Just please balance volume of music and voice, had to fiddle with volume quite often.
Thanks for that feedback
