FAMILY! is so important in EE! But David and his son Joe were only Wicks by name. Simon was just a cousin. Who in their right mind would get that upset over someone dissing their cousin?
And on top of that its not just about blood. Nature vs nurture. Its the way the Wicks' behave which affects their kids, the environment theyre growin up in. Like Kevin's uncle raised David so David is the way he is coz of that environment. If Pete Beale raised David he may have been really different.
@@gh0510 I still think it was an unhinged reaction by Dean, but that suits the character, as he would later develop... I agree about the nature / nurture, but that is not the same as loyalty. David had no loyalty to the Wicks. He hated Brian. He was abusive. So why would he give shite about Wicks family (apart from Simon and his family, of course)? I think the writers understood this. When Shirley told David she was married to Kevin, like she expected a reaction, he simply said hadn't had anything to do with the Wicks in a very long time.
