Alice should've been set up as the second strongest brawler, just below Dan. None of the Darkus brawlers in the show are ever nice people, so seeing a powerful Darkus brawler that was actually a nice person would've been sick.
Alice was absolutely robbed of that win against Shadow Probe! Seeing her make such an amazing comback and still lose was infuriating even as a kid. Specially becaise Alice is my all time favorite character from this franchise.
My boyfriend worked for Bakugan a more than a decade ago, and it is true that Alice was considered to have a more relevant role in NV, in fact the Bakugan that was going to be a cyborg was going to be Hydranoid, and Hades was going to be its final form. In the style of Mecha Ghidorah, but this was discarded because this forced transition was not going to be seen well in Canada or the US for an animated series for children. That's why Helios took the role of a bakugan who voluntarily becomes a cyborg.
since Hydranoid worked very well as a villain in the first season. The fact of adding Alice with the objective, motivation and frustration of recovering Hydranoid from the hands of Shadow Prove, when she had barely fought in the first season, would be a very difficult journey for Alice.
@@KateKwiat001Wait, so they did actually plan to initially include Alice as part of the main lineup? Man, now I feel so robbed. I always felt she was the most wasted potential. Her fighting to take back Hydranoid as well as deal with the residual trauma of being Masquerade would've been the best and most compelling arc in the whole series.
@@KateKwiat001 I know that Bakugan was a show meant to sell toys, but it really had the potential to be something really good. If only they had the guts to take the risk and add some slightly darker themes. It would've made the show so much better.
@@samengelage3521 There were several ideas for the second season, initially, the protagonists were going to be the same as in the first season, but it was decided that, since the target audience of Bakugan was mainly boys and not girls, they would feel identified more with boys as bakugan brawlers, that's why Baron and Ace were introduced.
@@samengelage3521 There were many ideas discarded, which gave a great role to Alice, one of them was that at the end Hydranoid became a 100% mechanical Bakugan (Hades) and Alice has to defeat it. Then the ancient warriors (Apollonir, Exedra and the rest) restore his body, though, in the form of three separate single-headed hydranoids, each a little different to differentiate themselves.
Love the title card you use for the full video. Ace honestly does not deserve Percival. Both may be edgy bois, but Percival is just naturally edgy while Ace tries too hard. Alice and Percival balance each other out.
I liked Percival, but never liked Ace at all. He was just so smug and really didn't have any major struggle for him as a main character. So I loved this What if as it really does Alice justice for getting the majorest shaft and did more for her character. I really hope you do more What ifs in the future like that "What if the Original 6 continued on adventures throughout the series". It would be amazing!
My thing is that I liked Ace on a surface level, but it’s hard to say I loved him because he really doesn’t have any development. I feel like they had ideas for Ace but ran out of time to really do anything with him, because they gave him a lot of focus in the first few episodes and after that it was almost nothing. The only thing about Ace that’s really important is that his relationship with Mira is a perfect foil to Gus’ relationship with Spectra, which sucks because I always liked his design and I love Percival.
I love this "What If...?" story of yours, especially since Alice Gehabich is my 1st favorite female character from "Bakugan Battle Brawlers". I still wish she was a main character in New Vestroia as well as the Darkus battler of the Bakugan Brawlers' Resistance.😍💜🖤
Another curious fact about Alpha Hydranoid is that in the original version he was called "Demon Emperor Hydra" and is still called that in the Chinese version.
9:08 Masquerade(Alice) has fought both Dan and Shun back in season one and yeah I ship Shun and Alice, I'd think they'd be sweet to each other. Shun's two other romantic options were either one sided or weird. Also, Dan could develop some jealousy about their relationship compared to his and Runo's. Alice having Percival compared to Hydranoid is thematic pleasing when I think of her relationship with the brawlers.
I like the comment about Billy and Julie still being capable. Everyone seems to forget that, despite their Team Rocket tendencies, Billy and the other main rival battlers were, you know, THE top ranked battlers besides the main six themselves. Klaus and Chan Lee even becoming mentors for Alice's rehabilitation.
Honestly I don't remember much of Bakugan, it's been a long time since I've watched it, but what I do remember is thinking that the show would've been so much better if they actually continued to use the original female cast, and Alice in particular. She was Masquerade for crying out loud... but then again, this sort of extends to the show as a whole after they started only using Dan, Marucho, and Shun as the continuing characters from the original cast.
22:10 I think Alice going up against Spectra could work as it can show her determination to set things right after her crimes as Masquerade, with her saving Drago being something of an apology for sending the big guy to the Doom Dimension. It could also emphasise the stakes since Alice losing only shows how far Spectra is willing to push Drago, and seeing that the situation is becoming dire, Apollonir steps in to help the kids win their friend back and save Vestroia from essentially imploding on itself again.
I loved this as someonw who just LOVED the og bakugan, alltoght one thing that i allways was curios about was what if helios ans spectra were in gundalian invaders as helios theoratically was a gen3 bakugan, just a suggeaton toung still LOVE your work holy daym, founf you today and will watch every single video from now on
You know what will be funny? If Percival was hydronoids student maybe drago can ask "Hey what did hydronoid told about me?" And Percival having internal panick cause hydronoid told that drago was annoying
So I wasn't the only one who favoured the original brawlers. I am not a feminist, but when the first season aired some female friends got interested in the show and enjoyed it because half of the protagonists were girls otherwise they wouldn't even give it a chance because in these boy targeted anime/cartoons the girls are either love interest either support. I enjoyed the girls more than the replacing, sorry Mira fans she just doesn't reach Runo, Julie or Alice level for me. Elfin was a great Bakugan, I liked her.
maybe instead of having alice replace ren entirely for a theoretical alternate gundalian invaders, just have ren use a different attribute. dan has a main rival that uses darkus (masquerade), pyrus (spectra), aquos (anubias), and haos (gunz), so maybe make ren a sub terra battler instead of darkus in your version. would even make sense since he and linehalt lived underground.
i like hydranoid and alice far better than ace and percival alice was unironicly why i chose darkus when i played the ds and why i colected darkus bakugan as a kid
I actually think one of the earthlings should have been replaced with one of the girls. It would have given a more balanced demographic to the resistance. I think any of them would have worked you’d just need to shift around some of the vestals attributes. I think the best choice would have been marucho. He’s a great character but that overshadowed Mira as the leader and the brains of the resistance. She’s already the smart one we don’t need the walking encyclopaedia. He’d play a major role in part two aswell so he wouldn’t miss out on much. And not having a new partner the writers wouldn’t have a reason to cut Diablo and Angelo. I think Runo would have been the best choice and could have added some great character interaction. Baron moving to aquas could have definitely worked as comedic relief is a very aquas trope. I think it would also be really interesting to see how Runo would react to Baron loosing tigrarra and getting a new Bakugan.
Hmmmm. that Percival evolved instead of Hydranoid from being gifted the darkus energy would probably really annoy Hydranoid. Because he is one of the original brawlers team, and didnt have a chance to defend himself with his chosen brawling partner when he was petrified. Edit: oh you did bring this up in the next episode, maybe it could be sprinkled in beforehand? ....wait a second, didnt they already get the atribute energy in season 1? so it would naturaly be better to be with hyrdanoid since he evolved when he got it?

I always did think Ace was just a worse Shun, a side from what we learn about him when he battled Mylean, he just wasn't that interesting.
Honestly that could have worked it's just that they brought Shun back and even put those two side by side so Ace was just there

How they never did anything with Alice will forever plague me. So much wasted potential.
Glad the community is still having fun with what ifs tho.
Honestly they should have brought back everyone when they were on earth
I don’t hate Ace, I just wish Percival was like Hydranoid’s Apprentice, like how both Preyas and Tigrerra had them in MECHTANIUM Surge.
You know what will be funny? If Percival was hydronoids student maybe drago can ask "Hey what did hydronoid told about me?" And Percival having internal panick cause hydronoid told that drago was annoying
Only reason she wasnt part of the main cast is because she wpuldve taken Mira's best girl title

Very good video! But honestly, after the destruction of the BT system, NV becomes a mess.
They need to sell toys for survive tho, although they need better writing for original brawlers
If Ren was replaced in gundalian invaders would alice still have hydranoid?
If you decide to do up to Mechtanium Surge, Mascarade could replace both Spectra and Dylan's roles in the plot
