- Przed meczem siatkówki Serbia i Czarnogóra - Polska odegrano dwa hymny bardzo podobne do siebie. Hymn Polski i Jugosławii (potem Serbii i Czarnogóry) oparte są na motywach tej samej melodii ludowej do której Józef Wybicki napisał w 1797 roku tekst Mazurka Dąbrowskiego a później słowacki poeta Samo Tomášik w roku 1834 napisał tekst wszechsłowiańskiej pieśni rewolucyjnej "Hej Słowianie". W czasie II Wojny Światowej była ona jedną z ulubionych piosenek jugosłowiańskich partyzantów a w 1945 stała się oficjalnym hymnem Jugosławii. Dzisiaj zarówno Serbia jak i Czarnogóra mają inne hymny. Serbowie wrócili do historycznego hymnu "Bože pravde (Sprawiedliwy Boże)" z nieco zmodyfikowanym tekstem. Hymnem Czarnogóry jest teraz pieśń ludowa "Oj, svijetla majska zoro (O, jasna majowa jutrzenko)".

Moja najmłodsza siostra, rocznik 1990, pamiętam że będąc dzieckiem stanęła na baczność gdy zaczęli w TV grać hymn Jugosławii (jakiś mecz był)...

Tito picked the song with his members as the official anthem because we were the slavs of the south and that song unifies the slavs outside of russia and the north east where we come from. We slowed the tempo down so we didnt copy from your lovely version. Much love from your brothers and sisters to the south.

Prawie identyczne. Melodia Hymnu wszechsłowiańskiego "Hej Slaveni" była wzorowana na melodii naszego Mazurka Dąbrowskiego. Stąd to podobieństwo.
Moim zdaniem Hej Sloveni brzmi inaczej od naszego ale nieco podobny jest.

TVIndokistan Polish was composed in 1797....
The Polish anthem "Dabrowski masurka" was created in the 18th century, and the melody is a Polish folk dance with a much longer history. It was very popular in the first half of the 19th century, especially after Polish uprisings (Poland was invaded by Austria, Prussia and Russia and divided between these three countries at the end of the 18th century - for about 100 years). "Dabrowski masurka" became popular generally among the Slavic nations who suffered under the occupation of Austria. First, one of the Czechs transformed it into the anthem of all Slavs, writing new words to the Polish melody (so that they would have the same attitude to fight for freedom as the Poles), and then it became the favourite song of the Yugoslav partisans during the Second World Century. After the war, Yugoslavia decided to add its own words to the Polish melody. For 250 years, the Polish anthem has been played in a lively, optimistic rhythm of the mazurka. Yugoslav Hymn - at a slower pace.
Funny thing is that this song with a bit different text "Hej, Slováci" was a national anthem of puppet Slovak state in 1939-1945. It was one of the most popular national songs in Slovakia and at that time during the war, there was no Poland or Yugoslavia, so there was no confusion. After the war and re-establishment of Czechoslovakia, the Slovak part of the anthem returned to Nad Tatrou sa blýska, which we had before the war and have until now.
The Polish Anthem ("Dąbrowski mazurka") was created in the 18th century, and the melody itself functioned in Poland for much, much longer, as a folk dance from the Mazovia region (the same that inspired Fryderyk Chopin). During World War II, the Germans killed Poles for its execution. And Slovakia invaded Poland together with Hitler in 1939. Can you explain the reasons why Slovak fascists had the idea to just take the Polish anthem?

Hi, perhaps I might be able to answer your question.
The song "Hej Slovaci" was NOT an OFFICIAL anthem of the Slovak Republic during those difficult times. However, it was often played during official state events due to its lyrics and relatively long tradition.
The thing is that the song "Hej Slovaci" was written in 1834 and became an important part of the Slovak nationalist and patriotic movement and culture, especially during and after The Spring of Nations (Wiosna Ludow). At that time there was no Poland Republic and therefore nobody in Austro-Hungary could perceive the use of the song as somehow conflicting with the Polish national sentiment. Also, "The Song of Polish Legionnaires in Italy" was officially recognized as the anthem of Poland only in 1927.
And in 1927 the pretty much identical song Hej Slovaci, or Hej Slovania (Hey, Slavs) was already very well established amongst the Slavs in the Habsburg Empire.
So, the usage of Hej Slovaci as an "unofficial anthem" of the First Slovak Republic was kind of natural, considering that at that time it was sung by the Slovak patriots for more than 100 years.
Also, Slovaks have very pro-Slavic sentiment. The song Hej Slovaci was almost immediately changed to Hej Slovania (Hey Slavs). And that naturally covered ALL Slavic nations, including the Poles.
As for your comment about Slovakia invading Poland in 1939, please remember who attacked Slovakia just a year ago in 1938. Yes, Poland.
Pilsudski's Poland in brotherly cooperation with Hitler's Germany attacked Slovak and Czech territories and stole some of Czech and Slovak historic lands. In 1939 Slovakia, in cooperation with Naci Germany, took it back.
At those times, before 1939, the "national socialist" Germany and the "near-fascist" Second Polish Republic were good friends. As declared by the Pakt Pilsudski-Hitler in 1934.
"Divide et Impera" worked very well for the Germans. They managed to put Slovaks and Poles against each other very easily. The final demarcation of the borders between Czechoslovakia and Poland was done in 1956. At least I think it was in 1956. From that moment on there are no territorial disputes between the Slovaks and the Poles.

No, it wasn't the favorite song of the Yugoslav partisans. We just couldn't agree on our anthem so this panslavic anthem was adopted as a temporary measure till we figured out our anthem. A couple of other songs were proposed, some of them really awesome, but never managed to get universal acceptance, or to be more specific, Croatian representatives opposed every proposed anthem on the ground of those being supposedly too Yugoslav nationalist for something as ridiculous as mentioning Yugoslavia in the lyrics as often as once. In the end, after all the proposals failed and this temporary anthem being our anthem for something like 40 years of it being our temporary anthem, it was recognized as our official anthem in 1988 and stayed official till 2006. It was a nice anthem, much better then the current Serbian one which I'll never gonna learn and sing this one instead.

@JamJestMikolaj To nie nacje decydowały o wyborze hymnu Jugosławii gdyż głos decydujący miał prezydent Tito urodzony na terenie dzisiejszej Chorwacji, którego ojcem był Chorwat a matka Słowenką. Dopiero po jego śmierci i wojnie wewnętrznej Jugosławia się rozpadła a Tito spoczywa w stolicy Serbii a wówczas całej Jugosławii Belgradzie. Sceny z jego pogrzebu też tu dodałem (widać tam Gierka). Byłem 26 razy w byłej Jugosławii i mam wyjątkowy sentyment do tamtego kraju mimo, że był sztucznym tworem.

Chciałem zauważyć, że ten pierwszy hymn nie był hymnem Polski. Jeżeli część pierwsza, owszem, była podobna (może mimo tego, że bardziej przypominała walca niż mazurka) to druga część to jakiś nowotwór!!! Inny rytm, zmieniona harmonia, inna melodia w końcówce... Ludzie... Jak się gdzieś jedzie, to powinno się zadbać o to, aby symbole narodowe (flaga, godło, hymn) były poprawne i zgodne...

W oparciu o melodię Mazurka Dąbrowskiego słowacki poeta Samuel Tomašik napisał pieśń "Hej Słowacy", którą już jako "Hej Słowianie" w 1848 uznano za hymn wszyskich Słowian. Strasznie był podobny do naszego hymnu. Zgadzam się też z AKTOKTO1 nie przypominało to hymnu Polski, oczywiście ta druga część. Kibice z Jaworzna pozdro dla nich.

Not only did we steal their song, but we also slowed it down, put some extra stuff here and there, tweaked the orchestra a bit and it turned out much better than the original. If I were Polish, I'd be really pissed off. Though, to be honest, it wasn't completely our fault, in reality Stalin made us pick this for our anthem and after that we couldn't change it because some federal subjects, primarily Croatia, didn't wanna change it since the lyrics actually have nothing to do with neither Yugoslavia nor Yugoslavs, not even the South Slavs, the lyrics are only about Slavs in general, though most of us really viewed this 'Slavs' from the lyrics as referring only to us Yugoslavs. Anyways, the song I'll link at the end was written and composed to be our anthem, and was used as our unofficial anthem domestically, but some, primarily Croatia, hated it since it used the word Yugoslavia too much for their liking, so they insisted it was nationalist. Really dumb stuff, would have been awesome if it really were our anthem, though Hej Sloveni was still revered and still is with many people. Many of us, especially born in the early nineties and before that don't even know the words of the new anthem or even the color arrangement of the new flag.
