I have a roughly 6-8 inch comet goldfish with dropsy in a 10k+ gallon pond. None of the other 40 or so fish in there have any problems but this one has dropsy. It has bloated slowly over several months, i originally thought it was eggs until the scales started to pinecone. I do not believe the problem is anything other than bad genetics because it's a comet based on none of the other fish being affected for several months. But I want to relieve the bloating with salt. Once I remove him from the pond and put him in a quarantine tank what kind and how much salt should I use to suck the water out that is swelling him?
That will be 1kg for my 200L tank? It seems like alot of salt.. Can i still add the salt to my tank that already contain Prime and Stability from Seachem every time i do water change? I like to ask u abt water change too.. i don't hv a spare tank or container to pre-fill the water.. Can i just fill water from the tap to the tank directly? I will add Prime and Stability to the tank right before i fill from the tap.. anyway my tank only house a single juvenile arowana for now.. I'm using the tap water in Sg.. Thanks!
That's perfect. Detailed but easy to understand. Thanks a lot! What are the affects of salt to filter bacterias and should we always keep the thank bit salty? How about the plants?
Thank you. Glad its useful. Firstly small amount of salt we are using to treat our fishes wont harm our beneficial bacteria, as for plants some are more tolerant than others but at these low dosage we do not have to worry.
What about for goldfish?is ok to i use?if one from my fish have a red mark on tail, and another have something underskin close to tail, like a bubble under skin with something brown or red...
hi , Yes you can use for goldfish. Red marking on tail could be a slight infection (so yes can use) but something under the skin could be parasites, Look for anchor worm medication.
Bro , Hi! New subscriber here! I jst wanted to ask if its okay to add salt on my main aquarium , i dont hve extra hospital tank, and i only hve 1 injured fish , while the other fishes are fine? @@TheSimpleAquarist Alright thank you! Do Arowana tank need salt as well? I was hoping to setup an Arowana tank in the future but as of now my knowledge for Arowana is still not good
Well we should only use aquarium salt when our fish is in stress or injurd. Well if you want during first few days of the new tank when you just introduced your fish you can add salt . Keeping asian arowana is quite simple they are hardy fish. 1. Make sure your aquarium has sufficient filtration and fully cycled. 2. A strong cover - these guys will jump sometimes for no reason. 3. Regular maintenance. Simple as that. All the best.
Let's count how many times he touched his nose!
Haha yes if you get it right ill do a give away on my next video.

@@TheSimpleAquarist if İ want to keep the salt in the tank all the time for general defence what should be the percentage per liter?
@@Delehmes Its not recommended to use salt as preventive action but if you must do it then 1 gram per liter would be more than enough.
@@TheSimpleAquarist what about copper? İs it possible to share your experience?

Hi Yes, it's no problem adding salt in the main tank but just make sure you don exceed the required amount.
@@TheSimpleAquarist thankyou verymuch, do i have to water change everyday after i put some?
@@user-ut9vi7fu8v nope just do regular water changes and top of salt for the amount water changed until your fish cured
Do we need to put salt again after water change?
Hi yes , you need to add salt to the amount water changes you added.

Does salt affect beneficial bacteria ?
At low concentration it wont effect that much. Low = anything below 0.5%
Hi....How to treat for internal parasites?
Salt treatment only work for some parasites- you can use same dosage stated on the video.
250l tank, use 50g of salt water!!
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too technical.
Not technical, if you use the right amount you will see the diff because most of ppl dosing too little to make any difference.
