I look forward to these outstanding videos. Thank you all for the work you do. I’m retiring at the end of May and heading out with my son to see these places I’ve only read about since I was 7 years old.
Guys, now you are in my neighborhood 😎 I am so happy the Atlanta Campaign is getting the spotlight in this series. Decision In The West by Albert Castel is the most comprehensive, most detailed account of the campaign. Thank you for all you do for Battlefield Preservation!!
Kris, You might not have thought that someone from Utica, NY watches this series, but here I am. I grew up about a half-mile north of where General Herkimer and the Tryon County Militia crossed the Mohawk river on the way to relieve the siege of Ft. Stanwix. In 1860 Utica had a population of 22,529. Utica is part of Oneida County, which supplied five infantry regiments to the US Army (14th, 26th, 97th, 117th, and 146th NYVI Regiments) as well as filling out many other mixed regiments. A little known book written by a soldier from the Utica area is "Dear friends at home, The Civil War Letters and Diaries of Sergeant Charles T. Bowen" of the 12th US Regulars. He participated in 15 battles and was never wounded.
Great work as usual. Going to visit as I have family that fought in several of the Atlanta campaign battles on both sides. Been to Chickamauga, Kennesaw Mountain and need to visit the ones you are covering.
LOL on the monologue about eating dinner with Joe Hooker. I do not know. i may believe what he says as long as it is not something he is promoting himself about. I happen to like Hooker as a soldier. He has a better record than many of both sides who have better modern reputations.
There is a movement, mostly by one individual, to reclassify Pickett's Mill as a Union victory. The basis is that because Johnston eventually retreated after a week on the lines, Pickett's Mill should be seen as a Federal win. He even had the "Confederate Victory" sign removed from the park. In my opinion, this is a flawed interpretation. The Battle of Pickett's Mill fought on May 27th was a Confederate victory. Yes, the action that occurred on the park's land after May 27th should be interpreted more, but that doesn't change what happened on May 27th. Look at it this way. Should we consider Kennesaw Mountain to be a Confederate victory because Johnston retreated a week later? Of course not. We should not let modern politics influence our interpretation of history. I'm all for re-examining primary sources and new data, but reclassifying Pickett's Mill as a Union victory doesn't pass that test. Chris Cash has done a great job in researching the role of the cavalry at Pickett's Mill and bringing more sources to light. They fought harder than previously given credit for, especially in light of newly found casualty figures. Go visit the park if you can. Its a great battlefield and excellently preserved!
Please stop staying on the camera shots of the guys and stay on the maps and the story about the battles. They’re wonderful guys but we need information and not camera time.
Mackowski you may interrupt That Philadelphia "Yank" anytime, to speak of any Honorable Southern Gentleman. Mr. White is knowledgeable but still a 'Yank" all the same. Interruptions are acceptable.

These three Battles really should be considered apart of the same Battle.

Hea, and John Bell Hood is the reason the Confederates won the Atlanta Campaign.
@@cwf081166 lol. they did not win the atlanta campaign.
Brushy Mountain, not bushy mountain

Gustav Mackowski😂
You did fine pronouncing Oostanaula but you need to work on Resaca. It's not Re-Sock-A, it's Re-sack-A.

How I film my video tours. I very selfdom appear myself. Let the surroundings occupy the eye of viewers, not my old man physique.
Awe- don’t take away the people shots! I happen to like seeing their gestures and they’re also pretty cute! 😍
Albert Sidney Johnston was the highest ranking Confederate General killed during the war not Polk
It was said ''during the Atlanta Campaign."
I thought it said during the war not campaign but small oversight

Mackowski is a "Yank" as well and Mr. White is not from Philadelphia. 😆
Well unfortunately in2023 we maybe on the eve of the second civil war revolution all rolled into 1
Probably the worst video presentation of this group I’ve ever seen…..all over the place in this description
