  • Finally! After 2 years on the road! Tour our renovated 1997 Lance Legend 990 Extended Cab Truck Camper! This truck camper has been serving us well, as you can see, we made it all the way up the Dalton Highway of Alaska to the Arctic Ocean in it!
    We purchased the truck camper in March 2020. On day 1 of renovations, we found extensive water damage in the bed area of the truck camper. It was all rotted out! What was supposed to be a quick renovation, turned into a nightmare as Nick had to figure out how to rebuild the bed area of a truck camper all on his own. There were no UA-cam videos like ours back then. We documented the entire renovation process and posted the videos on UA-cam.
    Nick rebuilt the bed area. Cut off a cabinet. Installed a new house sized sink. Installed a new toilet. Installed new flooring. I redid the coach with new foam and material. Sewed new curtains. We painted the entire interior. It was a lot of work. We hit the road in October 2021 and haven't looked back since.
    If you have any questions about the truck camper or renovation, please leave a comment. If you could take a sec and hit the "like" button, that would be great! If you are new to the channel, subscribe to follow along on our travels. We're exploring Alaska, and its absolutely incredible here!

    I actually went and looked at the first video when you bought it. Wow the amount water damage. I would never buy a any type of RV or Truck camper built in the 90's. All the seals are rotted. Both of you got skills but Nick Nick baby you got mad skillz. Lol

      lol thank you!! Honestly, if we knew the extent of the damage, we definitely would not have bought it either. Nick is still trying to recover from the trauma of working on that truck camper bed 🤣

    You guys did a very good job on this camper. Because I am handicapped, the bed would have to go the other way so I could get in & out more easily. And I would have a convection microwave so I could have a small pizza. I am 70 & a little jealous of this camper. I really like it. Have a great time traveling around the country, take a lot of pictures, & make a lot of memories.

    You could just pull that microwave, and drop off at thrift store.
    I was surprised out how heavy it was :)

    13:30 another great idea that I am going to employ! It's a pain to reach over the sink to the original faucet hose deal.

    WOW. I thought I'd seen every truck camper renovation video out there, but just came across this video today. I subscribed to your channel; and I am looking forward to reviewing all of your past renovation videos. Yours is definitely the most beautiful and intense renovation I've seen. Congratulations on taking an old Lance and making it so roomy and beautiful! Your ideas for adding more floor space is genius. I have a 2000 Lance 1030, which is essentially the same as the 990, but rebranded. I have been "updating" mine as well for the past two years, but I won't be doing all of the work that you've done (I like my propane). A couple of questions: When you removed the "step" under the kitchen table, did you encounter a bunch of wiring and some fans going to the generator? I went to convert this step area into storage, but encountered this mess, so I left it alone. Also, I want to install a new, larger toilet and was wondering which model did you replace yours with.

      @@NickandJulie yes I agree should have done the same. I’m always messing with it. Drives me crazy. We used a peel and stick style vinyl flooring too. Same exact problem, always have some Garila glue handy to fit it when it pops up. Love your content continue the amazing work.

    You can clean off the black squiggly glue oozing from the window frame with a little glass cleaner and a flat "flat single edge razor blade". Its very easy to do and satisfying and you will be pleased with result. Need to just spray it to get wet.

    Very cool rebuild! I love the use of space! The front bed area, and storage areas up front are really cool. will have to watch the original build. Just recently started following you guys. Unfortunately, a lot of "RV Lifers" went to Alaska this year...still following the adventures, but not a fan of cold weather. Loved the Caribou episode though! You guys did a great job remodeling the camper! Enjoy Alaska, and be safe!

      Hello! Welcome to our channel 👋 that is true about a lot of RV Lifers going to Alaska this year. Maybe bc it’s the first summer without any restrictions in terms of what’s been going on in the past couple years. We definitely saw a lot of RVs up in Alaska that’s for sure!
      The caribou herd was just incredible. Just one of those once in a lifetime things we’ll remember forever.
      Thank you for the kind words about our camper remodel. It’s been a lot of work but also so many beautiful adventures with it 💛

    • @NickandJulie
      @NickandJulie  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you 😃 one of the things we love about this lifestyle is we can move if we don’t like the weather where we’re at. We don’t like cold and we avoid it. But if we get stuck in a place for some reason, we have an electric space heater and a buddy heater. We were thinking about a diesel heater but we don’t spend time in cold weather long enough to justify getting one for now.

    • @NickandJulie
      @NickandJulie  2 місяці тому +1

      We don’t stay in cold places. We were out of Alaska at the end of August. If we choose to do cold camping (which we probably won’t since we both don’t like cold) we might consider getting a diesel heater.
