To be very truthful, you have not damaged the shrub, you have lopped it back. That means on the branch you cut will get more thicker with more stems growing under the cut. The cuts you are making will never ever kill a willow shrub or tree,me myself,i like to cut to a twenty degree angle,so water will not sit on the cut..
Nice work, I like the flat top natural’s with the groove cut/ filed in like that, be making up a few more myself that way. I have been using the old school bands and have just got myself a 2m roll of GKZ. Interesting choice of tree, (Salix capria... Goat willow) but I prefer the Latin name bellow. It’s ok, I was a tree surgeon for thirty years. Great video’s you are doing👍 Mark
Thanks for sharing You can’t beat a good natural fork I am old school ....... love making them and my grandchildren love them too not forgetting my sons thanks guys 👍
Great!! Just how I do my own although I have difficulty holding a good zero with em please could u help me with my Band lengths im shooting 10 mm steel with GZK black point 72 my draw length is 29 inches im just cutting them at 4.5 cm tapering to 3.5 cm ...Could i be getting better speeds with thinner band dimensions at all please get back to me cheers..ps Willow coppice makes great forks and is easy to work on !
I think naturals come with the dna of cattys not in the sense that’s that were they originally came from ,, but no matter how much time passes me anyway always go back to a natty making and shooting them to the best that I can. Nice few there great bag 👍🏻🍀😎
Depends on what you want it for, silkys are the best imo but you have a few different teeth sizes.Course teeth are great for cutting alot of fire wood but struggle a bit getting snagged on finer work. Silky pocketboy is a good all rounder
Catapult Carnage When I was your age LOL I would make mine out of olive tree forks and my father would put a nice round stone in side the fork and tie up the two fork ends then leave it in a low oven for a few hours to dry out the timber ( cure it ) the once dry cut the wire take out the stone cup to right length and would have the perfect half circle ⭕️ shape . I thought he was clever.. My be one you can try..!
@@CatapultCarnage Thanks for reply. In my younger days, I would instinctively aim the slingshot "gangster", and I recon that's still going to be my preferred grip. I also like holding the fork grip, if that's what it's called. So I recon it doesn't matter much if the handle is thin? Already made some decent ash forks. It will only be for target practice as hunting with slingshot in Norway is forbidden. Slingshots in general are illegal here, UNLESS it is home made... Strange rule, but works for me. Don't tell our suits they all shoot the same. ;) I'll stay subscribed, enjoying the content. :)
so what would you recommend the bands for a natural i am just starting out i am using looped tubes with tabs the tabs on a old milbro i found on a walk because it looks like it makes it go over the fork rather than though it can i do this with a natural fork ? i was thinking a nice hardwood fork with a 4mm hole a 4 mm bolt with some leather tabs then bands or will it just come and it me in the face?
Hi Chris, i have only found your channel this weekend, but i live literally 5 minutes from where you're at there!! Don't suppose there's any chance of you teaching me?! More into competing/hunting with shotguns, but wouldn't mind learning something new! Love the videos, keep them coming:)
Tough question because it wouldn't be something I've much experience with start with 20-15 then go up to 23 to 17 and finally 25 to 20 I'm sure one of them will work
Love the channel! I'm doing a lot of study on this before i buy my first catapult. I have lots of experience shooting so understand range and trajectory principles. I'm torn between starting with a sight like on the hammer or getting no sight and learning that way. What would you recommend please? Thanks in advance. Stay Frosty!
Absolutely unreasonable saw cut of trees. I do not belong to Green Peace, but I feel sorry for these trees. Why do you need so many slingshots, because you will use only a couple of all.

Nice video I was cutting a fork off a tree today too lol
Good video.. I'm on the lookout for a new saw. Noticed that you had a few different one's. Which one would you rate as the best . ??

What type of bands did you use to hunt?
Hi Mate

Do you ever season your natural fork after making it into a catapult..?
Cheers Famo59.👍🤓🍺⛏

What's the pros and cons on a V cup vs a U cup Tree fork? Just started out, out looking, and making. Just ordered som Terra band. Can't wait.
They all shoot the same try to find the shape that's comfortable to hold

In your opinion it is better, green or orange gzk, for 8 and 10 mm steel balls, my draw is 75 cm
Green
I thought you was gonna shoot that butterfly you savage 😅
Nice vid as always. Which ammo and bandset were used to take down the rabbit?
8mm steel i think it was the old anti cold. 55 precise I'm not sure what the taper was
@@CatapultCarnage thanks, I supposed at least 9.5 steel because 8mm would be too light... Nice news, you too use 8mm with pigeons?
@@canalealeable use 8mm for everything now it has great penetration power, I much prefer 8 to 9.5 now

Chris if i was shooting 1mm bands with 12 mil steel at a 28inch draw what should the taper be for squirrels

I know it’s been a year since you commented but I recommend no sights. I bought my first one with now sight and I think there is no need for sights.
Great vid, managed to bag a sycamore fork myself the other day. It seems to be quite similar to ash.
Could you please tell me what size and where you got the posh bolts and coloured washers for the hammer pro please😊
