Sharing my sonic findings with you guys is my favorite thing. I'm just really happy that you enjoy it and that you learn something new. Makes it all worth it. Thanks! ❤
I love to add a slow trem before my drives. The way the gain reacts to the rising and falling input volume can be heavenly. I’m so going to add vibrato and reverb to that after hearing this!
Can't believe this video does not have more views. Every piece of music you made are so touching and beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us, love your channel mate!
Thank you so much for the kindness! And hey, every share, comment and like means more than you could possibly think for spreading the word about my videos. So if you like them, then please share them with your partners in tone. Would mean so incredibly much to me ❤
just coming back a few hours later to say that this was the missing element of my pedal board!! I previously had wah > tremolo > boost > fuzz > delay > vibrato > verb. I had played around with many different orders before but nothing ever clicked like it did this time with my drive and fuzz at the very end. Its also the first time i've ever had all my pedals on at once and it still sounded cool.
Thanks for this video! I just bought a Dispatch Master, and I've been thinking about doing DM -> Julia -> Overdrive, but I wasn't sure how it would sound (I'm not home so I'm not able to try it right now). Then I found this video, and it's exactly what I was looking for. I'm definitely going to do this!
Had to watch this in 240p because of bad internet, it feels double lo-fi :D Amazing video as always Stefan! Been your fan since Tc Electronic times! You really inspire me to delve into those ambient tones!
Hahahaha! I need to try that, man. Things can't get lo-fi enough for me at the moment 😂 Honored to hear you've been following since the TC days, and I'm stoked to hear you dig the content I put out here on The Pedal Zone. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤
I just had to laugh out loud at 4:55 when you started to smile. No doubt that you totally love that sound man! Very organic and trippy! You should talk about your amp too, I have a Fender too, it all starts there.
I keep my dirt section last as well. I like it to mimic everything straight into amp. And by chance had my modulation after my verbs and delays and found out how great it sounded there! Great video as always man!
Why does that not surprise me? :) Stefan - what is the synth you're using in this video? I love the result... reminds me of Flood-assisted Depeche Mode from 'Songs of Faith and Devotion' era! Awesome stuff, as always... keep it up and many thanks!
love what you do with music, great tones and textures.....thanks for sharing your journey of inspiration...its always great to discover something new ...the William Basinski Disintigration loops are off da planet beautiful
You're a beast dude. An inspiration to me and I'm sure plenty other people. Keep doin what you do brothaguy. And I love that organelle, that's next on the list!
I just love how the drive amplifies each little characteristic of the dispatch and shallow water. It really brings it to life in a whole different way. I'm so glad you shared this as I'm sure like many, I've always put my drives first in the chain haha
Thanks, man! Yeah, I'm a big fan of Guillaume's work. Meet Maude is also one of my favorite analog delays. He always manages to pack his pedals full of soul. And awesome to hear you're going for the Shallow Water. It's just incredible ☺ Thanks for watching and commenting. Means the world to me!
Yes, Stefan! You know… no one ever talks about how delay repeats after a vibrato pedal turn it into a chorus effect. And I don’t want a chorus effect. But putting vibrato AFTER delay keeps the vibrato intact! Even more so after reverb, too! I just got a Walrus Julianna (stereo vibrato), so now I can finally achieve the above on my stereo pedalboard. 🙌🏼 Btw, you should edit the title of this cool video. Something like “…Using vibrato after delay and reverb.” Or something like that. :)
This is such an inspiring video, I don't have a guitar but I ran a wurlitzer electric piano through similar effects in my DAW to amazing results! I am definitely going to experiment with other instruments and synths.
Really happy you liked the video, and awesome to hear it inspired you even though it was presented in a very guitar-centric way. This trick works wonders on any instrument and you can do some really cool things with plug-ins and automation in your DAW. Have fun, man and thanks a ton for your kindness ❤
The first time I heard the Disintegration Loops (TDL IV especially) the margins of my understanding of "music" ....disintegrated. Sorry. But for real, TDL was a sonic awakening for me, and TDL and his other works continue to inspire (and humble) me with every listen. I'm catching his performance of TDL with the Chicago Philharmonic in February, and I couldn't be more stoked on it.
Same here. Completely changed my perception of what music could be, and how powerful sound can be. I could feel myself changing along with the music. Like something suddenly clicked into place. Stoked for ya that you get to experience it live. Wish it was me 👍
That genuine and contagious joy and enthusiasm for sounds and creativity. It's what keeps me coming back: it helps revive and feed those qualities within. You've given me another way to work with what I have and explore set-ups I hadn't considered yet- even a new way of THINKING about pedal chains. So much to explore. Thanks, my online compadre of soundmanship!
I’ve watched this video a dozen times and bought a vibrato and a distortion pedal thanks to you! I would watch hours of video of you experimenting with this effect, but I guess I’ll have to do it myself :p
It never occurred to me to run a synth through guitar pedals. After watching this, I can hear it clearly in those 2000s indie bands like Death Cab for Cutie.
@@thepedalzone would you suggest running a guitar and synth through a mixing board then into the fx sends, returning back out to the master mix for live?
This is an absolutely magnificent video and I love the texture you're able to create here. I'm gonna try and recreate it on my Multistomp but I doubt I'll get the depth and clarity you're able to capture. Thanks for this
Awwww, man! Thanks! Super honored to hear you enjoyed the vid and that you learned something. Let me know how it goes with your recreation of the tone with your gear ☺
Hey Stefan! Awesome stuff, first video that I saw and I think I'll watch every single video you have post! Love the mix between demonstration and explanation about the pedals!
So lovely, Stefan! Similarly, one of my favorite combos is the echorec into the shallow water into the SSBS f*ck overdrive...hazy, worn out lucid dreaming! Very inspiring stuff, man! Nice work.
Sounds like a wonderful combo you got going there. Killer pedals 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m happy to hear you liked the video and that we dig the same tones!
ThePedalZone definitely! Not only do we have/like a lot of same gear, but definitely the same musical aesthetic too! Plus I think the f*ck overdrive is a must for anyone making disintegration loops tones!
Normally I never comment on videos but good job man! I love this tone creation series that you have been doing though this by far is my favorite. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great work! I'll be looking forward to hearing your future tone ideas.
Honored to hear you like the Tonal Teamwork concept. I really enjoy making them. And I’m happy you liked this one in particular, definitely one of my favorite sounds as well 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting. Really means a lot to me ❤️
My pleasure, man! I'm just super stoked to hear that the videos provide you with value. All I could ever hope for. Thanks for watching and commenting ❤
Well this is cool. It made me rethink my whole approach to pedals. I'm not sure I will adopt it on guitar right away, but I might do it on synth. Thanks a lot for showing it ! P.s. : tycho da best
really enjoyed your your emotional impression and enthusiasm ( I am not a guitar player more into sequencers and synth programming and use pedals) I saw Tycho few years ago and I agree it was a very colorful sonic mapping. Thanks for making these demos enjoyable. Keep on the great show. Dont change :)
Ah man that sounds amazing! I used to use two Westwood’s at the end of my guitar chains in my hybrid guitar band but I gotta try adding a vibrato kinda thing before it, sound so gooooooood. shallow water is incredible!
i like to use this philosphy on the masterbus of a session, the warble over everyhing and the overdrive / saturation to the tame highs and transiants almost like a compressor.
yes and to go a step further you can automate the 'warble' OUT of the time/bpm/meter so that you get those inconsistencies opposed to a fixed rate modulation
Damn it, Stefan...i have to rebuild my pedal board everytime i watch...great stuff, mate
Pedalboard tetris is half the fun. That's where all the dream sequences happen ☺
Right? LOL Very true.
your enthusiasm is low-key one of the best things about this channel
Awwww, thanks! I’m a nerd, I can’t hide my excitement when it comes to cool sounds 😊🤘
You should make an EP with these sounds. I would pre-order it before it was even made, these tones are amazing.
Thanks, man! And thank you for wanting to listen if a record existed 👍
Basinski was a genius and those recordings are truly 'the feels'.
Such a brilliant ambient mind
This guy's enthusiasm is infectious
Awwww. Cheers, man 🙏
Man, i feel these videos like a sort of path in searching of "tones for souls"
Thank you! I like that title. Could be your new album title ☺
About albums... it's an off topic but could be cool to know the top 5 albums inspire you the most in your "tone quest" during tese years...
OK i tried this with my DD7 and Polytope into my DL4 and I couldn't be happier
Happy to hear the video inspired you to give the sound a go with your own pedals. Really cool to hear you dig the results. Thanks for watching, man! ❤
It's great that you share these findings with an audience, this one in particular was super cool.
Sharing my sonic findings with you guys is my favorite thing. I'm just really happy that you enjoy it and that you learn something new. Makes it all worth it. Thanks! ❤
Do you have a band or something I could check out, you write just the way I like man.
Stefan seems like a legitimately good dude.
Awwwww. Thank you ❤️🙏
Really dig that lofi grainy sphere. Thanks for sharing the recipe, mate! Btw your channel is just awesome.
My mind just exploded too, thanks man!
Cheers! Happy you found the video helpful
I love to add a slow trem before my drives. The way the gain reacts to the rising and falling input volume can be heavenly. I’m so going to add vibrato and reverb to that after hearing this!
I am not an ambient guitarists but man you get some beautiful sounds! Easily the most creative guitar channel on youtube currently.
Awwwww, man! That's too kind! Thank you very very much. Honored to hear that you find my content helpful and inspiring ❤

I love the random pitch-modulation from the Shallow Water
Me too. It's just incredible, and sounds so damn organic ❤
absolutely, I was a bit sad when I could not get it quite right with a vb-2 :(
Thanks for this video! Damn. We’re desperate to see the lo-fi demo in HD, what were we thinking.
Switching to 144p right now
Your enthusiasm is contagious!! Love it!!
Thanks, dude! Really happy you found the demo enjoyable. It was fun to make 😊
I absolutely love Basinski! Excellent video, man. Always love your channel.
I just had to laugh out loud at 4:55 when you started to smile. No doubt that you totally love that sound man! Very organic and trippy!
You should talk about your amp too, I have a Fender too, it all starts there.
That effect literally always has me in tears
Sounds like you and me are very similar ❤️
You have a beautiful sensibility that can be heard in your playing. Thank you for your videos.
Awww, man! Thanks! Utterly humbled by your kindness here ❤
Beautiful and inspiring. Just listening to these tones alone makes me dream of the music I'd want to write.
Honored to hear that the tones inspired a dream sequence in your mind. Highest praise possible ❤
Dude I love your channel so much. I remember thinking I should start a channel myself, but now I don't need to. You're doing what I'd do but better xD
I keep my dirt section last as well. I like it to mimic everything straight into amp. And by chance had my modulation after my verbs and delays and found out how great it sounded there!
Great video as always man!
Definitely my preferred order
Awesome!
I love your infectious excitement!
Awwww! Thanks, man!
Oh my God that piece was so moving!! Awesome!!
Wow amazing effect definitely going to try it out thanks buddy

Thanks for your passion and instructions. I was able to follow-along and create a low-fi sound for a recording, and it is sweet!

Wow. Just wow.
Happy you enjoyed the vid 🙏
Sounds awesome!
Thank you!
Great as always. I have to try that too! Long live the PEDALZONE👍🏻
Thanks, man! Really cool that you got some new inspiration from the video ❤
Eno and Lanois. Scrumptious.
Two of my biggest heroes ❤
Why does that not surprise me? :)

I completely understand your first sentence of this video. Takes me to another time
You're a beast dude. An inspiration to me and I'm sure plenty other people. Keep doin what you do brothaguy. And I love that organelle, that's next on the list!
Dude! Speechless right now. I hope that a simple thank you will suffice ❤
oh my god, blew my mind
Happy you enjoyed it!
Really enlightening stuff here. Making me rethink how I want my board arranged.
That’s really awesome to hear 🙏
I just love how the drive amplifies each little characteristic of the dispatch and shallow water. It really brings it to life in a whole different way. I'm so glad you shared this as I'm sure like many, I've always put my drives first in the chain haha
Keep this inspirational material coming - I love the sounds and love your enthusiasm! All your videos teach me something.
Sounds good!
Thank you!
Great vid! Guillaume's pedals are so good. The four eyes is just amazing. And you just convinced me to get the shallow waters....
Means the world to me!
you've opened my ears
I'm honored, man. Thank you!
Stefan this is so cool. I set up my board for this :) my pads are gonna sit around like the 90s tapes in the attic😂
Thank you so much. I reorder my pedalboard and very happy with the result.
That's so awesome to hear!
Awesome !!!
Happy you found the vide informative and inspiring ❤
3:26 the exact same face I did when I tried El Capistan. Definitely trying this config!
Haha! Awesome! The El Cap can do some nice lo-fi sounds as well if you max the mix and dial in some wow & flutter and tape crinkle. Have fun, dude! ☺

Yeah, it is a lovely sound that just feels alive ☺

exactly
Great tip, thanks! Will try it with Avalanche Run >> Warped Vinyl Hifi >> Westwood
Thanks, man! And yeah, that should get you very much into the same sonic ballpark. Have fun ❤
Nice pedal !
Indeed. Happy you dig it
I’ve watched this video a dozen times and bought a vibrato and a distortion pedal thanks to you! I would watch hours of video of you experimenting with this effect, but I guess I’ll have to do it myself :p

Wow. Gonna try that with my Shallow Water. Thanks for the tip!
Awesome!! Happy you found the video helpful and inspiring. Makes it all worth it. Shallow Water is just incredible ❤
Stefan, I love this. I run my Digitech PDS 20/20 from the 80s into an overdrive pedal for a similar effect. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thank you so much! I'm so stoked you enjoyed the video 👍
Some great honest enjoyments goin’ on here and for good reasons. Nice 🤘
Glad my excitement was visible. It's such a fun and inspiring sound 😊
love the vibe/idea here
Thanks! Happy you got something from the video ❤
Beautiful playing. Great material. Best channel - Greetings :-)

Going to try this with my Julia! I have the same pocket piano.
Go for it!

I’ve been trying this today. Polara > Canyon > Julia > Plumes. Mixed results so far, but I never expect mine to sound as good as yours
Love that Tone, So good.

Honored to hear you found the video insightful and inspiring. Means a lot. Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️🙏
So surprised i got this tone on a budget zoom fx,im a bass player and i really love your videos,,thanks for the inspiration
Love this setup. A quick shortcut would be one pedal -- Clarinot by Midfi electronics. Not the same but very, very similar.
This is the music Robocop hears in his head when he visits his former home
Raaaaaaaad!
Great concept!
Thanks, man! Happy you enjoyed it ☺
Ah man that sounds amazing! I used to use two Westwood’s at the end of my guitar chains in my hybrid guitar band but I gotta try adding a vibrato kinda thing before it, sound so gooooooood. shallow water is incredible!

this almost made me cry
Awwwwwwwww ❤
Nice video. I am new to Lofi and electric guitar. Thank you for the video and your passion for music. Cheers. Subscribed...

i like to use this philosphy on the masterbus of a session, the warble over everyhing and the overdrive / saturation to the tame highs and transiants almost like a compressor.
Yes! Awesome trick to add some warmth and movement to a final mix. Very cool, dude!
yes and to go a step further you can automate the 'warble' OUT of the time/bpm/meter so that you get those inconsistencies opposed to a fixed rate modulation
like how a space echo is different from one tape to next , all out of time-like
