The whole "do it" section in the song is about wishing someone was more courageous and open with you. I think nothing is more attractive than someone who is able to show you all their cards. This song is another Vanessa masterpiece. She puts out quality music lyrically and sonically.
I can relate so much with the lyric-- "You went back to that ghost, I went back to what I know"-- from a friendship that ended with the other person chasing a fiction and I went back to the things I knew and loved without that friend.
I also love the lyric: "I tried to remember. There's no future, there's no past." It's over, so there's no future, but the past is a tainted one so it might as well be non-existent.
Can't wait for Liberman!

I agree ! Those producers have some of the most generic , uninspired , bland bullshit songs lately ! Vanessa's new songs are pure and authentic.
This girl tho... I started listening to her music 12 years ago, when I was 12 years old, never stopped and now, at 24 I'm still admiring every word, every sound and every note of her music. She's amazing! And 12 years later I'll get to finally see her live in January, just got my ticket and I feel in heaven!!! Thank you for keep delighting us with your impecable talent!

I first started listening to Vanessa Carlton's music in 2002. Still listening to her music. Even her new songs too. I enjoy her songs and she is also an incredible and one of my favorite piano players and vocals. When l had my rough days. Vanessa's songs cheer me up. And it's good to listen to music if you are feeling down during the week. Especially her music. I'll continue to listen to Vanessa Carlton's music. Even when l go take my walks during the week too.
