Man one year ago, in 8th grade, I was forced to do xc, and little did I know what it would do to me lol. I found it fun but I wasn’t very fast. I was a soccer kid and ran like a 7:28 mile, and by the end of my 8th grade xc season my mile was 6:45. I did winter training on my own and not consistently but became a lot faster for track. In track I got a 5:52 mile and a 8:52 2400. In that last meet I got spiked and was done for like a few weeks. Freshman xc was better training and I found out what mileage was. Recently finished my 9th grade xc season in ~5:00 shape and 18:04 5k (worst conditions ever, one of my teammates who ran a 17:15 on a really hilly course only got 17:24 on the flat course I did.). I’ve learned a lot and i was inspired by Evanruns and you
Last year, I had the worst winter training known to mankind but still pulled off a 5:11 as a freshman This year, I am doing 35mpw with some speed work and I am trying to break 4:50 in the 1600. The only problem is that my XC times only fell from 19:25 to 18:52 so it might be tough to pull off
yo, he's back! One of my friends (7th grade) ran a goofy 5:44 with no training, he does soccer, I have no idea how some people do this, I recently ran 5:57 after like 3 months of training, new goal: sub 5:40
@@Bartle_RunsHe does soccer a lot, but I don't really do sports (a few months ago I started running casually) but I've been on a long break so I don't know, maybe I'll go back into running again, maybe sub 5:40 is possible, you're mile guide (the previous one) did help me to get sub 6 when I got it
@@nerdhead123 that’s awesome to hear! The purpose of this new one was just to improve on before because I think the quality was lacking a tiny bit. But glad you found use in the video I love hearing that
@@Bartle_Runs Hmmmm Well we will need to see you do the Track mile under 5 seconds for conformation. (Now you have nowhere to run, pal! Where's the proof?) 😏
Another Bartle Banger. I'm also trying to be faster, beak 6 in the mile and 20 in the 5k. My strategy is 7.5 miles every day at 8 minute pace, but I'm afraid I'm pushing myself to hard, heartrate averaging 204 and high of 208. What do you think?
Those are some great goals! But 7.5 miles a day is definitely pushing it you should probably lower it to 3-4 a day. Especially if you’re averaging 204 hr that could be dangerous. Try lowering intensity
Good goal, but lower the mileage. More Mileage + Faster speeds lead to a lot of extra unwanted intensity, You should prob do like 4 miles at 8 minute. If your experiencing a lot of pain, just make sure to slow down. For me I would go for a time, not a distance. (Ex. I would run for 30 minutes instead of go for 3 miles, knowing what my pace should be if I want to get 3 miles done in 30 minutes.) So keep up, don't overdo it, and stay injury free
@@zeeksfreaks602 and @Bartle_Runs Thanks, I don't think I'm pushing hard though, but I also have a high V02 max so I feel comfortable sustaining it, I'll lower mileage.
If you can make sure to a watch to the end (it really helps out the channel)
Great job explaining how Mileage and build-up training works, also I LOVED the minecraft music in the background beyond peak bro keep it up 👍
great video man! these r very good tips that i’m sure r going to help a lot of runners old and new. as always continue making banger vids bro
Thank you so much bro I appreciate it!
Love the Minecraft music man! Amazing video
So I'm not the only one who noticed, let's goooooooooo!

Another big thing is genetics because I run 50 miles weeks and I can’t even run a sub five minute mile 😢
Do you do any speed work because I jumped from 15 to 30 miles a week but only noticed differences in the 10K

I think you’ve got it. Mile is a lot more speed based then people realize so XC times isn’t enough to determine it.

I walked 1:27 as a 4th grader in College
I did a -2:08 mile in kindergarten with Canada strapped to my back. Still good though ig but could use some work.
@@Oucherz I did the same but in the womb. (God did it, not me) 🗿🗿🗿

@ I ran a 3.2 second all out last year😈 it’s on milesplit as well
another great vid
I run 60 km a month, 1500m-4:58 and 3K-10:53 13y
great job man! u goin to the meet on the 25th?
Which meet?
