I shot my best round ever and not even 5 days later it was like I had never played golf. I am still trying to find my swing because I have try outs for my high school team next week. I hope this helps me find confidence and my swing back !
Hope you get it going again Connor
Best, Adam
Hope you made the team my man!
Did you make the team?
@@tom_pretends I made the team and now I’m walking on next year at a D1 level school!
No what you are going through.. I shot 69 70 70 71 in Aug Sept 2022 and haven't hit a shot since ... strange game
So glad i found this video.. i contemplated giving up golf after my last 3 rounds. Worse scores ever.. and yes everyone at club tried to be my coach which made me feel worse!! Thank you for making me feel human again :)
Glad you found it helpful.
Best of luck in the coming weeks.
Adam
That quote about "your swing when you are playing well and when you're not looks about the same" is very reassuring. I had a rough round today just 10 days after one of my best ever, and I could swear my swing feels exactly the same. I'm not gonna overthink it anymore, no more videos for now, that's what I needed to hear! Thanks for the advice!
Glad you found it helpful
That's a great quote
You’ve literally just reassured me it’ll be all good in the end but that’s exactly how I feel, as if I’ve totally forgot how to swing at a ball
Keep plugging John

I got into golf 3 months ago, couple private lessons and playing 4 times a week I went from 54 hci to 31hci, last week shot my best round of 99 on the money.
Today I had my first club tournament. Shot 131 I kid you not, duffed every. Single. Ball. I lost it I was on tbe brink of crying.
Thank you for this video, I'll be back on the course saturday
Cheers
Keep plugging Bodhi!!

Thanks for the comment Luz.

Great video! I shot my best round ever (4 over par on 9 holes) the other day. Took a lesson the next morning and it completely ruined me. I had so many swing thoughts and was all worried about my knee "collapsing" during the driver backswing. I played the same 9 that evening at 15 over par because I lost so many balls OB - that lesson had completely shaken my confidence and, in turn, my timing and rhythm.
Sometimes we just need to go back to basics and work within our natural athletic tendencies (if they work for us) rather than trying to craft the perfect looking swing. I needed this reminder to let go of the thoughts! Thanks Adam.
Thanks Rob, keep plugging.
All the best, Adam
I had to quit golf after my lessons. I went back to being worse than a total beginner. I’m completely lost.
I’m a 5 hdcp and been gearing up to get my score better but lost my swing completely this week! I feel like I’ve lost all confidence and rhythm & timing. This game will humble you! Will use these for shure! Thanks
Hope you get back on track!

Hi Adam. I usually find I loose my swing for periods mid to late season (about late July, August, September) as you say loads of things running through my mind and get frustrated. If I’ve been playing a lot I find a weeks break from the course kind of resets this, and a couple of trips to the driving range helps keep my hand in. Kind of takes the pressure of playing with colleagues.
Sounds good, thanks for the comment.

Thanks Adam. I really enjoy your videos. Always find them really helpful and simple to follow.
Some of the comments in here completely mirror my game at the moment. I’ve gone from shooting 5 consecutive rounds under 90 (which is good for me....I’m a 22 hcp) to 5 rounds in the mid/high 90’s (and even 100 on my last round).
I felt my swing had completely gone!! Then, I played 9 holes on my own, took my time and relaxed. Started off playing 3/4 swings and clubbing up if necessary and shot a 46. Not great, but 8 shots better than my prev front 9 on the same course. Just got to hang in there. Swing easy is key but can take some getting used to on the course.
Thanks, and hope it keeps turning around for you.
All the best, Adam
i feel your pain brother lol. I went from shooting high 80s, low 90s to 110 round. I am frustrated as hell, hence why i am here. Golf is a son of a bitch lol
I've definitely lost my iron swing and not my driver for some reason. Almost every single shot is a shank and it's extremely frustrating. I recently started playing pretty decent and now this.....I have to give props to the people hacking it up every time they go out and continue to play no matter what. That's something I could not do.
I hear you Cliff, hope you can solve it
Best, Adam
Cliff, this same exact thing has happened to me twice this year. The last time was this weekend. My iron swing went away on the third hole. Started birdie, par. Pulled my 7 iron for a 165 yd par 3 and hit a 90 yd shank. After 3 more holes of shanks and chunks, I choked down on my 22° hybrid anytime I needed a shot from 100 to 175. That doesn't work that well either but it was better. It's so weird and frustrating how it just disappears.
I had a mild stroke a couple of years ago and lost my swing entirely. Before my stroke I had about a 4 or 5 handicap, now I don't know what it is, I'm all over the board. I've been working hard getting it back and learned if I slow down and concentrate on contact (ball, then turf) I've been slowly getting better. My yardage is about 15 - 20 yards shorter per club, as I slowed my tempo for better contact, but am finally starting to get my accuracy back. I'll eventually get my yardage back, contact is my primary concern at this time and slowing my tempo has helped a lot. My short game has always been pretty good and didn't lose much of that so now I'm leaning heavily on my short game while I improve the rest of my game. It's certainly been a struggle, but hitting the driving range at least once a week and slowing my tempo has helped immensely.
Hope you continue to see improvement, and thanks for watching the video.
All the best, Adam
Excellent
Thanks Larry.

Very useful....since this happens a lot! Lol. It’s a real battle out there some days on the course with *your* own mind! I like the “feels” that aren’t technical such as trying to skip a stone (throw).

I've lost my swing on the range on the course. No idea what has happened, so frustrated.
Sorry to hear it. I'd try hitting smooth half shots. No swing thoughts, just play around and hit some different shape shots. You might get some feel and confidence back.

did the same except went from almost every day to didn't go for 4 days and went back out and didn't know what to do
@@nolanharker4809 exact situation as me!
Adam...thank god I watched this. I had a massive mental block that I couldn't overcome, then I did as you said, ie neutralising my brain and letting my subconscious do the work. I achieved this by focussing on slowing everything down, which meant I did not consider ANY other aspect of my swing... just swing slowly. Ive just hit 100 balls down the driving range faultlessly, I feel elated. This has been ongoing for months now.
I'm in a comp in 2 days, and I've gone from utter trepidation to eager anticipation and excitement at the prospect!
Thank you.

Glad you found the video helpful Jack

@@Scratchgolfacademy "The technique of golf is usually simple, but difficult to perform! I really enjoyed your observation:" ... you did not unlearn the technique that works, it remains in your mind, but you can not access it. .. "! Your classes are always enlightening! Thank you so much!"
Last Sunday, I played great. I was hitting everything straight and I was striking the ball well. I went to the range last Wednesday and I tried something new with my 100 yard shot, I tried this new technique which had me swing very fast on the downswing which caused me to completely lose my iron and driver swing. Every time I hit the ball it goes straight right with no distance. I try to do my old but for some reason I keep doing the swing I saw online and I am chunking the ball straight right on every shot. I feel like I lost my swing and I am very frustrated.
Sorry to hear it. Hang in there, and think (fix) less, it pretty much always comes back.

Thanks for the advice!
The same thing happened to me today!! I went online in desperate need. I'm glad Im not the only one but I hope you got your swing back!
haha damn, same issue here. straight right with no distance at all, all of the sudden😂 i love golf
I have the same problem. Whay fixed it?
I was blading and topping almost every club yesterday. The icing on the cake was my swing path looked to be drastically out to in according to my divots.
Hope you can get the feel back soon.
Best, Adam
Watch how to train your right elbow by Russel Heritage. Provided everything else is ok. Like right hip rotation. This may help lock that path back in. This one was a game changer for me. When I’m off I thin and pull the ball left.
Thanks Ryan, glad you are back on track.

Good title, but a little misleading. I really forgot how to play golf for a couple of years. I was basically just going to the golf course and swinging my arms. My average score had descended from 90 to over 100. Of course, sometimes I got lucky and made a good connection. A couple of months ago, I took a video of me at the driving range. It was horrific. Really, really horrible. Absolutely everything was wrong. My body was wobbling all over the place. So I studied a couple of stack and tilt guys (Tom Saguto and Nick Taylor), opened my stance, lowered my left shoulder on the backswing, kept my head in the right position, made a fuller swing and Bryson DeChambeau-ed my arms. Huge difference. I literally had forgotten everything I'd been taught and the video showed that, so I think that should be everyone's first move. You can rebuild a swing.
Fair enough.
Thanks, Adam
i was new to golf like half a year ago and from the beginning on, i only hit straight bombs, was really really fun.
recently, i lost it completely. face way too open on impact, hitting the dirt way too early. slicing every iron like maximum 50 meters in distance, no point to even try playing tournaments at the moment.
really frustrating.
whats mindboggling and also giving me hope is that i WAS ABLE TO hit it very vell, it has to come back, even if it takes a year.
I hope you get it sorted out Lenny
Best, Adam
I’ve had zero consistency in my swing for about five months now. I went from steadily progressing and dropping about 15 strokes to hosel shanks, toe shots, tops, and a plethora of other things. I can go in my front yard and completely return to my regular self and then go back out a few hours later and completely lose all fundamentals. Looking forward to applying these tips.
Hope you make progress!
Appreciate the help! Identified my problems and feel more confident in my game already.
I am so discouraged with the way i am playing. I never was a single digit golfer, mostly 12 to 18 handicap over 35 years. Now i can't hit my irons at all to thin to fat. Driver is fine putting is fine. Lost all confidence in irons practice, practice, practice has done nothing. I was asked the other day while on the golf course was i a new player. I am ready to just quit a game i have loved for so long. ( not fun anymore). Hopefully this will help thanks Adam, will give this a try.
Hope you make progress Stanley!
I’m a 7 handicap & everything has fallen to s**t for me, it’s like I’m just after taking up golf. I’m questioning myself “am I practicing too much ? Do I need a break for a couple of weeks?” Etc. Don’t know what’s ahead of me, because it’s the only game I love & now I’ve lost all confidence, I hope it will come back
Keep at it, it’s rarely as bad as it seems
I've been hitting golf balls in my back yard with the PW, 9 & 8i and been killing it with no thought process, even putting a slight draw & fade with them when I want to. So, today I take my 68 degree wedge out back and couldn't get it to work at all....Then I grabbed my P Wedge to see if it's the club or is it me. Somehow messing up on that newer club killed my golf swing...Like thinning the ball every time!! So diminishing...
Hope you can sort it out Matthew.
All the best, Adam
I had an over the top swing that worked, I’ve tried to create a more neutral plane to move to draws. Completely lost it all, I feel like day one, I can’t hit a good shot on the range in a session… hope these help a bit
Hope you make good progress. Reasonably straight ball flight is the goal, I wouldn't try to draw the ball consistently
Best, Adam
Lost the plot this past month after a good start to the season, 11 handicap, it's so demoralizing, been working really hard in the range etc but it's just vamooshed. No confidence at all standing over the ball and over thinking every shot, good luck to anyone else suffering, I feel your pain.
Hope you can sort it out!
Best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy Thanks . I'll try and simplify it like you say. It's happened before and then suddenly clicked back, might have a day or 2 off and ride it out a bit , probably trying too hard now and paddling against the tide, it's something slight I'm doing wrong, but cant pin it down.
Lost it completely during a fitting. The fitter turned into a teacher and confused the hell out of me. Walked out without buying clubs! Heading back to the range to try and reset the muscle memory! Great video!

Hello from Thailand.
Hello. I've only been to Thailand once, enjoyed it.
All the best, Adam
When I lost it I turned to my emergency swing. Swing with feet together or even swing from one leg. Either leg will do. Focus on good impact. Greetings from Thailand too.
Right now throughout the entire summer I have been shooting 80-90 and recently I’ve gotten to a point to where my swing is worse than when I first started

Finally made my way to a legit 4 handicap at my home course this summer. Playing better & better over the past 3 years. On a roll. Then all of a sudden at the end of summer I got the shanks, tops, lost distance, can’t even full swing & or make average contact. I quit for months. Idk what to do. I’m afraid to swing. I can still chip & putt, that’s it.
Relax and get back at it, starting with half shots. If you’ve been a 4 you’re not far away from decent play again

I've been practicing golf for 2 years, my irons were pure for the last 3 months and just a week ago I am losing my swing just after hitting like 15 balls at the range, at any range practice day. I#m not doing anything different but i think that after like 15 - 20 golf balls at the range i start overthinking for some reason.
Hope you can sort it out.
All the best, Adam
Almost broke 80 for this first time ever 3 rounds in a row. Those scores motivated me to practice but my game has now been destroyed. I hit around 100 balls a day at the range for the last few days and I cant remember a single good shot. No idea what happened and it's very frustrating.
Hang in there!
Best, Adam
About a week ago I went on vacation, I had been practicing for a week after finally deciding to switch from an EXTREMELY cupped wrist, to a flat wrist. So anyway I go on vacation and I practice everyday until I hit the course. For the first time ever I break 100 and get a 97, my swing feels awesome. 1 day passes and I only had time to chip some balls and go inside. I come back, the next day and go in my backyard and my swing feels foreign. This has never happened before, it only happens if I miss 2 weeks of practice or more. The problem is, I cannot feel the club head in the back of my swing, if it’s shut or open. My backswing feels completely awkward. I have been trying to get my backswing to feel good for 4 days and it keeps getting worse. I didn’t change my tempo, release, grip, swing path. I don’t know what to do. I probably changed my grip without realizing, but it feels and looks the same. The only time it doesn’t feel awkward is if I stare at the club in the backswing, but I have to keep an eye on the ball. So I don’t know what to do. I’m pissed that this happened.
Hope you can sort it out.
Best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy I figured it out, all it took was watching a few “mistakes amateurs make with grip” videos or something along those lines. Crazy how your grip can look and feel the same as it did before but it’s the smallest things that affect it.
Is happening to me a lot. I don't know if is the perspective of different golf course. I went to Dorado Beach TPC Golf Club Sugarcane and shot a decent 78. Then i went to another golf course a much smaller one and shot 89!! I didn't find my swing. Sometimes a felt like i was going over the top and when a try to swing from inside i top the ball or hooked it. I said the my muscle memory is weak.
It's a hard game to be consistent at for sure. Keep plugging.
All the best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy Thanks!! Great video with an information that no other pro want to give.
Happened to me and took me 2 seasons to get it back.
Sure I had some good days but mostly I had 2 really poor years went from 10 hcp to 19.
Once I got it back I had to figure out how I regained it and it was all about my tempo.. When you swing it badly you do tense up (involuntarily) and that kept creeping back into my swing.
On my way back down the handicap ladder again now but it's a horrible feeling when you think you can't swing a club properly.
Glad your game is on the mend Adam

I went to the driving range yesterday and hit 120 balls. Maybe 4 decent shots out of it. I’m so frustrated. I shot 85 last summer
I’ve been playing pretty well the past 3 months fallen apart a few times but then I got it back the next day but this time it’s different, my swing doesn’t feel right and I can’t hit a single thing I’m so frustrated 😔
I hope you can sort it out.
All best wishes, Adam
I’m 4 months into Golf. Just started to break 100 consistently and my drives were my best shots typically during a round. Starting yesterday at the range, I completely had a brain meltdown while swinging my driver. All of a sudden, it felt like the grip was uncomfortable and moving around a lot in my right hand right before the down swing on the driver (I’m right handed , btw) but ever since that thought in my head, I’m literally topping ALL my shots now! Can’t seem to get under the ball anymore and I feel like I completely lost my driver swing. This was my specialty too! Got so frustrated at the range today that I didn’t even finish my bucket of balls and literally almost quit Golf.
Hope you can get back on track!

It’s a tough game Danny, or rather a low margin of error game. Improvement will show itself in better scores, not so much in a smaller scoring range
Lost in two club semi finals back end of last year and can’t get it back at any price I have slowly got worse and worse my swings look great but I top or get to heavy fell lik😢e giving up the ghost

Just went out yesterday and I couldn’t hit anything...driver, long irons, short irons. It was awful. Most painful 18 I’ve ever played. I was hitting my driver 250-300 early in the year and now I can’t hit it straight, pop it up....can’t figure out what I’m doing different.
Mike,
Sorry you're struggling. Hard for me to try to help without seeing your swing I'm afraid.
Hope it shifts soon.
All the best, Adam
This happens to me regularly. I’m in a vicious cycle with golf. I start out playing good and striking it really good and shooting 74-82. I play good for about a month then out of nowhere in the middle of a round I’ll shank one. Then I’ll chunk one. My driver and irons completely get lost. I’ll come back the next day and it’s worse. I’ll come back the next day and I can’t even hit a single solid shot. So I have to quit for 2-4 weeks. Then I come back and I’m good again. Striking it really well and posting good numbers for about a month and then all of a sudden I’ll shank one and then proceed to hit nothing but shanks or chunks for 2-3 days in a row so I quit again for a few weeks. It stinks because I love playing and want to play 4-5 days per week but I refuse to play when the only shot I’m seeing myself hit is a shank or a chunk. So I’m literally playing for a month then taking a month off.
Hope this helps you sort it out Jake.
Best, Adam
Same here Jake (except I go from shooting high 80’s to not even being able to step on the course). Thought I fixed the shanks but they inevitably come back. Has anything worked for you?
@@patrickbur5929 yeah I just can’t play very often. If I keep it to once a week or once every other week I can play pretty good. If I start play 3-4 times a week my swing goes to hell. My Problem and I know it well, is I was a 7 Handicap Player, had an accident that put me in a Wheelchair for 15 Years! I have had 20+ Surgeries in that time and have been told I'd never walk again! I'm back on the Golf Course Hitting well into the 100's, but My Problem is I know how to hit the Ball and had My distances down on every Club. Now I'm a Senior Golfer, 67, then I was My 40's and Lower 50's! Sometimes, not often, but sometimes memory will take over on a Hole and it's like the Old Days, everything works and I'll Par or Birdie the Hole! What can I do, now that I'm a Crippled, Older Golfer to Help Myself to at least get to the Lower 90's, upper 80's?
Lynn,
I'd get coaching from someone who is really qualified, and just see what you could accomplish. Short game would factor in also, it does for all of us, especially as we get older.
Thanks, Adam
Thanks James.

Short game. 2 month ago i played with a senior golfer who was almost 77 years old and his longest drive was 190 yds and he shot 71, -1 y shot 79 and i was driving 255 or 270 yds of the tee. He beat me easily with his short game.
Seniors' Championship today. I have no swing with the driver. The only way I'll get in the top 5 is if everybody else dies of heatstroke in the 30 degrees that's been forecast.
Not sure I can morally wish you good luck based open that, but I hope you find your form!
All the best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy I lasted until the 14th when I lost a ball in the rough without playing a provisional. It was medal, so DQ'd
My every swing on the course I play like my swing could go at any second. Rhythm, tempo and tension. Omg. 2/3 swings, club up up one, until dialed. Hang in there fellow golfers.
I hear you Marty.

I was a steady player and improving until I “lost it”. I tried for a couple years to find it, including lessons. My frustrations overcame my patience. Now I play quit golf.
Sorry to hear that Steve. Hope you can get going again.

What if I never had a swing in the first place :(
Well, that's a different matter. Hope that's not the case.

I have lost my swing, no clue why, payed for lessons then after 2 it completely destroyed my swing, I am so freaking annoyed!
Sorry to hear of your struggles! I’d hit lots of half shots, and some shots at half speed, see what shows up for you.

I finally found my personal perfect swing a week ago, everything was perfect. I had proper lag, weight shift , ball first then turf, even to the point where I could finally hit the 3 iron 210 yards carry finally perfectly all day (Btw I play mizuno blades). Then two days ago I started shanking the golf ball EVERY SINGLE SHOT. Not once every couple swings, no 98 out of 100 shots. I have put blood sweat and years into my golf game, I'm just really upset and honestly I feel like crying that I made astounding progress to be hitting my knife of a 3 iron 210 yards carry to be shanking almost every single shot. I really need help I'm so sad and angry
Sorry to hear it Joseph.
I have a video on shanking at the channel, I hope you'll find it helpful.
All the best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy thanks Adam I will definitely check it out! I actually ended up going to the range and I'm not shanking anymore, but I'm back into old habits again. Thanks so much Adam!
I completely understand how you feel man. I was able to shoot mid 80’s last summer. Now I’m trying to fix my swing and overthinking. The last two times on the range, every shot has been a shank. I’m so depressed right now
Clean your mind!! Many thoughts at stance spoils your swing!!
I agree Luis.

When I think of things I should do with my swing my thoughts have an English accent.
Hope it helps Daniel!

Golf is weird.Usually, when I get some thing I've got it and that's it,it doesn't change.
It's an elusive game for sure Steve.

This video showed up in my feed on the same day I shot the worst round of golf in a long while... coincidence ? Probably not...
Hope you start playing well again.

Can u believe I just quit working out after the early 80s. You must really like naples
Greg,
I do like Naples. Where are you these days, Boca?
Best, Adam
Ormond beach just north of Daytona but it gets cold up here in the winter. The weather probably better down there
If you lose your swing its probably because you're not rotating your hips enough. Wind your hips up a little more in your swing and develop your extension length. When fully extended the inside part of the club head should be flush with the ball.
Thanks for the comment.

Everyone knows how to swing! Impact is what we are never taught about: OGF12. Learn that and you will progress, and never lose your swing again!
Thanks, though having taught golf for 35 years I'm not sure I agree with 'everyone knows how to swing'. I have a number of impact related videos at this channel
